Dear Friends,
Today marks the end of another year! In my lifetime, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have several very wonderful years filled with the love, kindness and thoughtfulness of so many people.
December 31st can also be a day of great reflection. Often people review the year mentally …and the different paths that took place in their lives. For ME, this was definitely a year of CHANGE. My life and career went from one amazing stage to another…from being the very accomplished professional athlete that I was…to now becoming a broodmare. Hopefully, though, throughout all of these life changes for ME one thing has remained constant….that I have continued to be a TRUE FRIEND to ALL OF YOU….the wonderful people who have shared so many of these experiences with ME!
Additionally, 2011 will always mean a great deal to ME personally for another reason… thanks to ALL OF YOU, MY DEAR OWNERS, and MY DEVOTED FRIENDS AT BARN 55….I became the 2010 HORSE OF THE YEAR last January! I will always celebrate this moment and cherish it! In all sincerity, it did mean the world to ME to be recognized for ALL of my racing accomplishments with this honor. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for your part in helping to make it possible!
I know many people are celebrating tonight and making their 2012 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS! Mine are quite simple yet specific….I want to eat right, stay healthy, and become a terrific MOM! I also want to be a loving friend to ALL of YOU and a great role model and inspiration for MY SPORT! It is so special to be able to ‘give something back’. Each of these goals encompasses a very high level of importance to ME!
TASTY and I, TEAM ZENYATTA, BARN 55, and our LANE’S END pals, ALL want to wish EVERY ONE of you a GREAT 2012….blessed with lots of love, great health, happiness, and the joy of realizing your dreams and cherished special moments.
With Love,
Hugs to All~(HAPPY, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!)

Oh, this is TOO CUTE! We also wanted to start the NEW YEAR with a HIGH HOOF to celebrate our BRAND NEW WEBSITE DESIGN. My dear ‘tech’ friends, TYLER and KYLE, are working on the final details of it at this moment! The site will be down for maintenance for some time on Sunday. Depending on your timezone, the new site will be online Sunday night or Monday morning. I must say, I think it is going to be ONE FUN and VERY EXCITING NEW YEAR!
CHEERS EVERYONE!
Debbie G/Kentucky
I’m still on the fence on whether I like the new website or not. The older the get, the harder it is to deal with change, but I’ll get used to it.
@Kari Bussell – Have you been watching football today? With the exception of the Georgia/Michigan St game, the SEC has been kicking butt. It’s good to have somebody to cheer for since neither UK or UT made it to a bowl game!
Kimberly Potter/Montana
Happy New Year Zenyatta and Team Z~ At first glance, I love your new site, but I need to take some time to navigate around.
So much to look forward to in 2012!!!

Dear Zenyatta / Dottie – Is there a quick way on this website to view Zenyatta’s facebook page? Dear Followers/bloggers and experts – forgive the question, but I’m just not seeing the link like it was on the old site. Thanks for any help!!!! and it’s ok tohave a good laugh on me if it’s right in front of me and I don’t see it!

Sorry, got the wrong reply button lol. My answer is one comment lower.

The facebook logo is the blue “f” on the homepage where it says “keep in touch.” it’s also all the way at the bottom right of every page.

Dear Zenyatta: Happy New Year to you, Tasty and all your wonderful friends at Lanes End and Barn 55.
Happy New Year to all my Z friends! I have been out of the country since December 27 and had some problems getting into the internet. So excited to see your new website.
@ Hello Trina, Karen, Diana and Judy from the island of Cebu in the Philippines. I am having a wonderful time and quality time with my family. I am here to visit my mom. She is still in the hospital due to respiratory problems but improving. Hope you all enjoyed the holidays. Will be back in town January 17. Until then regards to all.
Take care! Marilu

Wow – nice new website look! I especially like the pixs which seem larger and the navigation seems easier….I do miss the stronger color contrasts on the comment part, but I’ll adjust.
Did anyone catch the wild mustang rescues entry at the beginning of the Rose Parade today?
Really beautiful horses and great to see along with all the tons of other horses in the parade.

Dear Z,
Goodnight and Sweet Baby Dreams. Love you lots, Judy and Russ

Good evening Zenyatta,
I feel awful for missing the Rose Bowl Parade. I came onto it in the very last moment when the Dale Evans float was shown, which was beautiful and all the horses who came with the float. I bet it was just beautiful.
Wow, the new site is REALLY different, it’ll take some getting used to, I love the pictures, especially the one with your big shnootie. You’re too beautiful :)
Have a restful night and dream sweet.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Several have mentioned the Rose Parade. Does anyone know why it was postponed to a day many were back in their regular routines? I don’t remember a time when the Rose Parade was scheduled for any other day than New Year’s Day. In ’05, we were in Pasadena to see it, and we’ll remember it always.
Good night, dearest Z.
I saw how cold it is in Lexington tonight. You and Tasty stay warm and protect those babies, ok? Love you always.
Marty R / Colorado
@ Barbara Wood- On the HGTV coverage of the parade, Nancy O’Dell said that in the 1800s there was a rule made that there would be no Rose Parade on Sundays. The reason was that people going to church needed their horses for that and the horses were what pulled the floats.
Eveline / Maryland.
Thanks for the info, I missed most of it. I taped NBC, but I should have taped HGTV. Seeing the rose parade life is definitely on my bucket list. I participate in local parades with my dog. The Greenbelt Dog Training Drill Team. It’s a far cry from the rose parade. It never hurts to dream though.
Cynthia H./Santa Anita Girl
Marty is correct. There is never a Rose Parade on January 1st, if that date happens to fall on a Sunday.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@Cynthia and Marty–that must be true if you say it, but I just don’t remember that. It seems hypocritical when every Sunday is taken up with football games, etc. I would have liked to have seen it. Didn’t think about recording.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Yep, the Rose Parade is never on Sunday the 1st. But for those who missed it, there are video clips here, enjoy: http://www.ktla.com/entertainment/roseparade/video/

I LOVE the new website design! Very clean and bright and easier to navigate. I enjoyed browsing through all the wonderful photos of YOU at work and play. I hope there will be an album documenting the progress of your “baby bump” at some point. Now that would be TOO CUTE! :)

Absolutely love the new website… Great job… Happy New Year Zenny!!

Zenny, love the new web site, with the additional (and great) pictures of you to start off the fun. Happy Birthday, precious, for your shared birthday. You are truly an inspiration to so very many and look gorgeous all the while! I enjoy everyone’s posts a great deal, but don’t always get to respond myself. However, with a brand new site, and being as it is (one day after) your birthday, well here I am. Also, I’m the other dumpling who shared the wonderful trip to Lane’s End Texas with Jan S, a dear friend I met through love for our glorious Zennyatta. It was a beautiful Texas day with the sun shining and happy temperatures. The folks there were so very kind and helpful. Hey, even the farm dogs looked happy.
Sally B. (cherish Z, Wi.)
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you sweet Z, baby z, Tasty, your Z family, Barn 55 and Lane’s End and friends who post here!! May you all continue to share the happiest, and healthiest 2012 with those dear to you. It is Monday evening, the first I could read and post. When I reflect on 2011 you have been a major contributor to my happiness. I love you Zenyatta for ALL you are, for ALL things you have helped do for others, for ALL the good you bring out in others and for your faithful friendship. May I add how beautiful you are and how I love your dance!! YOU HAVE A FRIEND IN ME.
Bless all in the New Year.

@Terry Crow; Happy New Year! I bet the Lone Ranger would have traded his mask for some nose plugs, at least for awhile. ha ha

@Peggy (N) It has bothered me that I was not able to let you know how happy I was to hear of the good news from your doctor. Yippee!!

Dear Zenny
Just watched the 2003 BC juvenile filly, awesome
Win by Storm Flag Flying. Her dam For the Flag and
Grand Dam Personal Ensign, all won this race. Everyone
Commented how she was like Personal Ensign. We are
Going to hear all about your children when they win
In the Breeders Cup. It was such a touching moment!!

thx for all th links you posted :)

Happy 2012. I hope it is a wonderful year for all.
There are some things about this new site I really like. The colors in the pictures seem much brighter, sharper. I think archiving the posts by month is genius.
I love that we can reply to another post! However, I don’t think the poster knows there is a reply without going back to their original postings. (Hope that made sense) I have made two replies and afterwards I ended up back at the beginning of the diary entry. The same thing happened when when I looked at a link that was provided. That meant a lot of scrolling to get back to where I had been. Has anyone else had that experience?
I think it’s interesting that some names are coming up in teal and the others are in black lettering. It’s easier for these Sr. eyes to see the black. I don’t mean to be a spoil sport, but maybe there needs to be a little tweaking done.
Sandy
I think the teal names are ones that have provided a “website” when posting. That makes their name a link to their site.
Marty R / Colorado
Thank you, Sandy. That makes sense.

Hi, Zenny! Love, love the new web site. So many nice links to see all your races, all your stats all in one place! Wow! How cool is that! Love the archive of the past Diary entries. Would love to see more “live” videos of you, sweet girl!!! Miss you so much. Hope they will post the live video that was shown at your Breeders Cup Celebration! How great that would be to be able to watch that from time to time. Big hugs, sweet girl. Love you bunches! Ann Maree
