Dear Friends,

Today marks the end of another year! In my lifetime, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have several very wonderful years filled with the love, kindness and thoughtfulness of so many people.

December 31st can also be a day of great reflection. Often people review the year mentally …and the different paths that took place in their lives. For ME, this was definitely a year of CHANGE. My life and career went from one amazing stage to another…from being the very accomplished professional athlete that I was…to now becoming a broodmare. Hopefully, though, throughout all of these life changes for ME one thing has remained constant….that I have continued to be a TRUE FRIEND to ALL OF YOU….the wonderful people who have shared so many of these experiences with ME!

Additionally, 2011 will always mean a great deal to ME personally for another reason… thanks to ALL OF YOU, MY DEAR OWNERS, and MY DEVOTED FRIENDS AT BARN 55….I became the 2010 HORSE OF THE YEAR last January! I will always celebrate this moment and cherish it! In all sincerity, it did mean the world to ME to be recognized for ALL of my racing accomplishments with this honor. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for your part in helping to make it possible!

I know many people are celebrating tonight and making their 2012 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS! Mine are quite simple yet specific….I want to eat right, stay healthy, and become a terrific MOM! I also want to be a loving friend to ALL of YOU and a great role model and inspiration for MY SPORT! It is so special to be able to ‘give something back’. Each of these goals encompasses a very high level of importance to ME!

TASTY and I, TEAM ZENYATTA, BARN 55, and our LANE’S END pals, ALL want to wish EVERY ONE of you a GREAT 2012….blessed with lots of love, great health, happiness, and the joy of realizing your dreams and cherished special moments.

Oh, this is TOO CUTE! We also wanted to start the NEW YEAR with a HIGH HOOF to celebrate our BRAND NEW WEBSITE DESIGN. My dear ‘tech’ friends, TYLER and KYLE, are working on the final details of it at this moment! The site will be down for maintenance for some time on Sunday. Depending on your timezone, the new site will be online Sunday night or Monday morning. I must say, I think it is going to be ONE FUN and VERY EXCITING NEW YEAR!

    Thanks to the beautiful Zenyatta and her amazing team for continuing to make the world of horseracing something that the average horse lover can enjoy and actually feel a part of. So many of us came to this sport because of our love for the horse, and so many of us felt pushed away because it had begun to seem so exclusive. Zenyatta and her “news” briefs have allowed us to feel like insiders in a very special industry, and it’s a feeling that you simply cannot put a price on….

    Have a very happy new year, everyone wishes you nothing but the best in 2012. 2011 was a wonderful year for you with so many changes and 2012 will be no different! Thank you so much for allowing all of us to share your life on and off the track. You are an inspiration to everyone Z, and we all love you so much!     Happy New Year Z! To you, your team, connections barn pals & Tasty too! This past year has been a little tough for me, but many of the highlights have revolved around you. Your Eclipse Award, pregnancy, meeting everyone at your Breeder’s Cup party & getting your ornament for Christmas. I can honestly say that if it were not for you, I probably would not have the level of interest in the sport that I do. Because of YOU, I really started paying attention and learning SO much. I even play the Race of the Day handicapping contest every day (ok, most days) just to learn more about handicapping. For those who really know me – this is a radical shift in my thinking – but in a great way! ;-)

    January 1, 2012 Happy New Year/Happy Birthday, Zenyatta. I have learned that all race horses turn to their next year on 1-1…But, I do realize that you were born on April 1st. Wouldn’t it be lovely if your baby were to be born on April 1st?

    @Barbara Wood-Your redneck status is now in doubt. January 27, wnhile not an “official” redneck holiday, commemorates the death of Thomas Crapper, reputed to be the inventor of the flush toilet. His death is commeerated, bnecause no lone is sure of the date of his birth. @signofthetimes, Rosemary McCauley, Denise in AZ, Diana S, Debbie G, Marshall, Judy Berube, Sue Fredrick, Sally B, Susan in Tn and especially Kari Bussell, you are the reason I persevere with these silly jokes. Just imagining you laughing at them brings me pleasure. NO redneck jokes until next week, but I will end the year with a Lone Ranger story. The Ranger had been scouring the plains for some time looking for Tonto, who had been missing. He came upon an outhouse located in an especially remote area. Upon hearing some muffled sounds coming from the outhouse, the Ranger decided to stop and investigate. Upon entering the outhouse, the Ranger found Ton tlo stuck down deep in the hole, almost covered. Upon using a rope to haul him out, the Ranger asked Tonto what had happened.
    “Outlaws capture me, tie me up head to toe, and placed a gag in my mouth so I could nlot cry for help. Just recently I was able to loosen the gag and make some noise.” “That’s terrible, Tonto,” said the Ranger, “how long do you figure you were in the outhouse?” Tonto replied, “Many moons.” Happy New Year to all who post here.

    Ah, Zenny, another adorable pic of you with YOUR John. How special is that! I wanted you to know I almost gave up watching horse racing after Barboro and Eight Bells. I also saw Ruffian and was terribly hurt when she had to be put down.
    But…YOU brought me back to something I loved and I thank you for that. When I first “found” you in 2008 I was hesitant to fall in love with another horse but you would have it no other way! Soon, I was “all in” as they say and I have never looked back. If only every horse had owners and a team like you do. You are blessed and we are blessed to have a close association with each other. What you and your team have done for the sport is nothing short of amazing. You earned every award that was bestowed on you and then some. I am anxious to see what changes will be made to this site but I do know one thing…it will always be a haven for those sharing love for a magnificient mare and a welcoming place where all are welcome. Your expansive team…including thousands of fans from all corners of the globe are special people. I am proud to be one of them. You seem to bring out the best in people. A special thanks to Dottie for being your muse.

    That was indeed a beautiful post baby girl. This year has been very hard on me, one of the worst years that I can remember. The highlight of this year for me was going to your party on November 4th, you have no clue what that meant to me. Although you were not there, just being there with your connections and fans was an unbelievable experience that I will always cherish because it was all about you. Thank you, Zenyatta, for being the greatest inspiration in my life during these difficult times. When I’m down and need a pick-me-up, I look at your 2009 Breeders Cup win. You have been my life jacket this year baby girl. I hope that you and your family have a safe and wonderful new year…love you baby girl, again thank you.

    My horses have been my life ~ you have been the most incredible role model for TB racing Zen because as much as I love your breed and the excitment of the big races I worry every time the bell rings and “They’re off” … I worry …

    You have brought willing folks along your path from total ROCK STAR with the team of humans that took such incredible care of you – to now broodmare .. how lucky are we to have you share this world you live in with us. I’m grateful because it means I get to see your beautiful face (I do have a lovely broodmare who has a white marking on her Morgan face that is very similar to yours .. you both make me smile).

    A healthy bouncing baby ~ no matter whether its a filly or colt will be so welcome into this world and the cycle begins again

    2012 is just a few hours away and we send you great joy and health and happiness all the way from Vermont – to you – thanks for all you do Zen

    Happy New Year to all of team Zenyatta, and Dottie for helping us all continue to share our sweet Queen Z, I await the new arrival coming soon and will be like a nervous father until the little one is here and Mommy Z and baby are both well and healthy. I am so glad everyone recognized the greatness we all were blessed to see, and finally gave Zenyatta the accolades she deserved. I think what we all witnessed is greatness we will never see again, since what we see in Zenyatta is not just Horse of the Year, but Horse of a Lifetime!!! Happy New Year sweet Zenny, I love you
