Dear Friends,
This is truly the season for GIVING and SHARING!
MY JOHN captured this photo of my dear baby sister, EBLOUISSANTE, while she was trying to encourage STEVE to really get into the “spirit of the season” and share his sandwich with her.
Steve not knowing E’s taste in these types of things was taken a bit by surprise! A horse…wanting a sandwich….HMMMM!
After chuckling for a bit, and acknowledging the fact that this type of ‘people’ food might NOT be the best for “E”….he was prepared to give her her favorite treat having a big bag of carrots by his side.
“E and STEVE” you are both TOO CUTE!
I so enjoy SHARING so many things with ALL OF YOU each day! Thank you for allowing ME to be a part of ALL OF YOUR LIVES!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z
Dottie and John want to THANK YOU for the numerous Anniversary greetings! Your kindness is deeply appreciated. SOPHIE also wanted ME to tell you ….she loved all of the “SHE IS TOO CUTE” comments as well! Again…many thanks!

What a cute photo of Steve and E…she seems to have the fun personality of her big sister, Z. What a wonderful job being around horses all day!! If I had my life to do over again…horses would be a huge part of my life. I took horseback riding lessons when I was 60…now am 65 on Jan. 5…and I loved every minute of them. I got to be around the horses over at a farm near me for a while but things changed at the farm for the owners…so do not get to go there now. I miss it…I used to go over and feed carrots the horses. When they would see me they would come right on up to the fence…if I had my hat on …they recognized me faster and came faster. Oh how I miss it…oh I said that. Hugs to you Z… it is so much fun to see your post and the pictures every day…and oh how we love Dotti!! :)

Merry Christmas to you Queen Z! and all your wonderful family! I am headed in the spring to Canada to race however, I have been thinking of your bundle of joy that will arrive for 2012! Montana is snowy but once Christmas is over, it begins to feel alot like racing season – even though we have to wait for spring. Enjoying my long winter break. I am so excited to see your baby! God Bless your crew and you dear Zenyatta!! – your sister is so darn cute!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Debbie from Ohio
One of my thoroughbreds liked to eat glazed donuts. You would hold it up to his mouth and he would gobble it up. I had another thoroughbred that liked to drink hot chocolate from a styrofoam cup. I would make him wait until it cooled off enough and then he would put his lips up to cup and I would tip the cup up and he would slurp it up (never spilled a drop). “E” is going to be just like “Z” – wants to check everything out. Congratulations John and Dottie on your 8th Anniversary. Thank you for keeping all the “Dumplins” informed on all things pertaining to “Z”. Merry Christmas!!!

Great picture of Steve and “E”. Queen Z, your baby sister is too cute begging Steve to share his sandwich. I can hardly wait to see her first race. I love you!

What a cute picture of Steve and your little sis. Dottie do you know if there is any chance that Eblouissante may run in the Apple Blossom this year? I would really like to make plans to see her and finally get to meet the Z team if she is. Since I will be traveling the rest of the week and may not get to check in Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Z fans and to John, Dottie, Jerry and Ann Moss and all of barn 55. Hugs and Kisses to you Zenyatta

Zenyatta, your baby sister is almost as beautiful as you are. You are both so elegant. I love you so much!
Marty R / Colorado
Wow! E. can sure stretch out her neck. That could come in very handy on the race track.
The other day I was trying to get a little ahead by filling in some things on next year’s calendar and it occured to me that soon we’ll be able to say it’s just xx weeks until Z/B is born instead of so many months. Time is passing quickly.
Won’t it be a year tomorrow that you were let free in your paddock? When you were running full ahead toward the corner I thought you were going to try to jump the fence, but you put on the brakes. Whew! Watching that whole experience for you made my heart sing.
It’s almost your second Christmas at Lanes End. I hope it’s a glorious time for you and your extended family everywhere.
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
@Jan Doyle, the Apple Blossom is for fillies and mares 4 and up, so Eblouissante would not be eligible to run in 2012.

@signofthetimes, true that. John takes very good care of his charges, doesn’t he?

TO ALL: Happy Holidays to everyone here. I have so enjoyed reading everyone’s posts this year. Your stories are wonderful, the sad and the happy, and I’ve learned so much about horses and compassion and people just from reading here. Never have I seen a website with so much kindness and love from EVERYONE! Just amazing and unusual. I may not post often, but I look so forward to reading here for another year and more! What a wonderful place to come to! Thanks Zenyatta for making this a happy place to be.

@signofthetimes–thanks for the info. on Steve Willard. I’m so glad he gets to stay around the barn with the horses. It would be devastating to leave all that behind. It looks like a happy barn from the videos. How could it not be with such a great staff and horses?
@Diana Hanson–a thousand amens to all you said. And He was born among the animals too!
@Casey–absolutely love draft horses!
@Debbie from Ohio–I’m with your horse. I never met a donut I didn’t like. It’s a good thing I never worked in a donut shop!

Definately, if I had a race horse, I’d have
To move to CA. Have you watched Carl Hester
The Olympic Dressage Champion on HRTV?
He is a character about his horses diets. Very
Enjoyable program.
Donna from Baltimore
Ebby is showing signs of being as beautiful as her “Big” sister. Looks like she’s got personality, too! Can’t wait to see her run!!
Joanna from TX
I saw the link about HRTV having some special holiday programming. They are also having a special program about A.P.Indy that I believe airs on the 26th. Should be very interesting. Zen’s ‘father-in-law’ so to speak…Bernie’s dad.

Hi there sweet Zenny, TT, Dottie and, of course, my Zenster family!
What an adorable photo — I just LOVE the look on Steve’s face. He seems to be saying to himself, “Where have I seen THIS before?!!!!” Just back from a trip to New York City for my birthday where I saw War Horse (the play). I remain speechless about it — such an AMAZING feat of puppetry, acting & staging. One of those experiences that will stay with me for my whole life. Those of you who can consider going really, really should. You will be delighted, moved and filled with wonder in a way that no movie — with all due respect to the great Stephen Spielberg — can ever hope to do. Definitely a WOW! event. We also saw Samuel L. Jackson & Angela Bassett in The Mountaintop — a play about the last hours of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life, written by the astoundingly talented Katori Hall. We got tickets @ the Box Office in the 3rd row centre, making it possible to “breathe in” Samuel L. & Angela word-by-word. It was an equally amazing experience and the acting was just superb! It was a great way to spend my birthday and I loved every moment in NYC, although I did come home with VERY swollen feet — LOL!
To DOTTIE & JOHN: A very Happy Anniversary. You were married one day after yours truly’s birthday — imagine that. I wish you both laughter, love and prosperity & many strolls with the ADORABLE Sophie Sherriffs! Love to all…..

What a cute picture of your baby sister. When I was doing horse shows many years ago, I was taking a break and eating a hamburger. I was holding my horse’s reins, when all of a sudden he reached over and grabbed the hamburger out of my hands! Down it went! I was shocked. I’d never heard of a horse eating meat. LOL!

Zenny thanks for sharing that adorable pic of Steve and the exquisite “Ebby”. She is truly as beautiful and classy as her daddy, and has mama’s ears a curious personality that you got too. If we can’t have you running it will sure be fun to watch her!
@TERRY CROW Oh boy, WRF, does this mean we have to have zebras (officials) at the meet? If that’s the case then I’m selling tickets and making some money, course that will mean a refreshment stand, should we sell beer and brats or just soda? And where are people going to sit…..we’ll need tiered seating! Oh and then what are Sally and I going to wrestle in……wait a minute don’t answer that, I’ll think of something. This is getting very complicated!
@DALLAS From Texas, Happy Birthday to you have a wonderful day.
@MARY HALE tell your Bear friend they have a lot more to cry about than we do,HA HA. Keep your chin up I bet it is hard to live with a bunch of bears.
Love you Zen and kisses on your nose
