Dear Friends,
This is truly the season for GIVING and SHARING!
MY JOHN captured this photo of my dear baby sister, EBLOUISSANTE, while she was trying to encourage STEVE to really get into the “spirit of the season” and share his sandwich with her.
Steve not knowing E’s taste in these types of things was taken a bit by surprise! A horse…wanting a sandwich….HMMMM!
After chuckling for a bit, and acknowledging the fact that this type of ‘people’ food might NOT be the best for “E”….he was prepared to give her her favorite treat having a big bag of carrots by his side.
“E and STEVE” you are both TOO CUTE!
I so enjoy SHARING so many things with ALL OF YOU each day! Thank you for allowing ME to be a part of ALL OF YOUR LIVES!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z
Dottie and John want to THANK YOU for the numerous Anniversary greetings! Your kindness is deeply appreciated. SOPHIE also wanted ME to tell you ….she loved all of the “SHE IS TOO CUTE” comments as well! Again…many thanks!
Hailey
So cute:) my horses and my friends horses do that to.

I think Eblouissante knew very well that Steve had those carrots.

Happy Christmas everyone

Dear Zenny
How cute!!!! Need to tell Carl Hester GB Olympic Dressage
Rider, he gives all his horses sandwiches and
Bread. Guess race horses have a stricter diet.
“E” must have a really good appetite. Is she getting
Guiness yet??? Hope you have actress day.
XXXOOO
signofthetimes
Sorry not actress but a great day, Zenny.
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
@signofthetimes, or maybe Steve just wants to eat his own sandwich. :-) Actually, Ebby Lou reminds me of my dogs when I have something to eat. They assume that they are entitled to share.

Hi Z. Colder weather is coming. Can you tell me if they make cold weather head gear for horses? Horse ear muffs??

It is wonderful to see your Steve again! I have not seen him for awhile, and Steve, you look TOO CUTE too! Thank you John for this great photo.

My sister had a friend growing up who would ride her horse to the Tastee Freeze and buy him a hamburger! So the sandwich doesn’t surprise me :) What is the strangest thing YOU’VE ever eaten, Zenny?
So Cal Z fans: There is going to be another Photography Day at Santa Anita on 12/29, next Thursday! I just got an email about it. So much fun stuff happening at The Great Race Place next week!
We had an earthquake (3.6) here in Ontario last night, centered just south of the airport (in other words, very close to my house!). No damage but it JOLTED me awake. Do horses react to earthquakes? I’m sure you felt a few while you lived here in California, Z!
Kathy B. (SoCal, FL)
LOL…she really wants that sandwich! Thanks for the great picture, and Happy Anniversary Dottie and John! And Signofthetimes I thought you were starting a new trend with “actress” – too funny!
Joanna from TX
Very cute picture…I’m not so sure Ebby wants to eat the sandwich but she sure wants to know more about it! I hear that her big sister was very curious about things too!
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning baby girl. That’s a cool picture, reminds me of me and my babies when I try and eat at my barn. Well today is my birthday so I’m going to go and try and make the best of it. You have a great day baby girl, love you.

Catching up on the posts. @Sue Fredrick-Sorry about the Packers. I belive that you and Sally B’s match should be ratified by the WRF (World Redneck Federation). @Barbara Wood-Don’t ask me to say anything good about the Lady Bears if you want them to keep winning. @Kari Bussell-Thank you. I am always p;leased when you enjoy the jokes. @Susan in TN-Thanks again from this “trashy” guy. @signofthetimes-I hope I don’t disappoint. @Rosemary McCauley, Diana S and Denise in AZ, charter members of the Arizona/New Mexico chapter-You might be a redneck if you think J. R. Ewing owns the Dallas Cowboys. @Judy Berube, president of New England chapter-You might be a redneck if you have two cats-one on either side of the fireplace. @Debbie G-, president of Kentucky chapter-You might be a redneck if the last present you gave to your husband came from a taxidermist. @Sue Fredrick and Sally B, charter members of the Wisconsin chapter, ;presidency to be determined-You might be a redneck if you chewed tobacco at your wedding. @Marshall, president of North Carolina chapter-You might be a redneck if, rather than drink the sacramental wine at church, you bring your own. @Susan in TN and Kari Bussell-You might be a redneck if you hold a frog and it worries about getting warts. You might be a redneck if your dad’s cell number has nothing to do with a phone. You might be a redneck if you keep a can of Raid on your kitchen table.

Dear Zenny,
What a great picture of Ebby. You really have an amazing family and I am thrilled to be part of it. The weather is damp and raw here in Ohio, and it doesn’t look too nice in Kentucky either. Hope you are staying safe and warm.
Love from your Ohio friend Sandy

@ Trina
Your poem for John and Dottie was amazing and enlightening as usual. How you “know” all of the things that appear in the poems is beyond me, but they are a wonderful way to learn about fellow “Zensters” as well as Team Z and the team at Lane’s End. Thanks for being our cultural historian :-)

@ALL
I hope this “works” (and even if the link DOES work, you’ll need to view it on a device with “flash” to get the full effect – or at least it didn’t work on my iPod touch even though connected to the internet. If I figure out that it doesn’t work, I’ll think of another way to convey holiday greetings to all

@sue, Nope, no horsey ear muffs. They don’t need them. As winter coats grow in, their ears get fuzzy along with the rest of them. There are blankets with neck coverings that can be used in very cold climates or on horses that are clipped or have sparse coats. Horses are cold weather animals. As long as they are allowed to grow their winter coats, have some shelter (the herd or a run-in shed, for example), and forage or hay (digestion produces a lot of heat), they are comfortable.

HA! Zenny! I’ve seen “Big E” do this, too. She has one long neck on her and she uses it to the fullest extent LOL I have video of her licking Bob’s hair (night watchman) ~ now THAT was a sight to see!! :-)))

Zenyatta, I’m sure Steve misses you sooooooo much.
Merry Christmas to all!
Hugs and Prayers
ps; that picture is so cute

Dear Zenyatta—“E” looks like she is morphing into YOU! You are as cherished as “the mostest horse that ever was”!
Terry and cronies…I too reside in Tennessee, raised racehorses and consider myself a member of GRITS (Girls Raised In The South). What makes Zenyatta’s blog different from the myriad of others is simple: her owners, trainers, grooms and associates are classy people and the articles refreshing, provocative, and stimulating. My thought was that the use of email would be a good alternative for certain content. My comments were not meant to belittle, insult, or offend anyone as I’m sure yours were not either.

Queen Z, THANK YOU for bringing so much joy to all of our lives; we love you so much and look forward to a baby Z.
