Good Morning, Everyone!
I truly love to stand in my paddock and GREET all of my Lane’s End Pals as they are busy driving around the farm and working. I must say that is one of the greatest parts of where TASTY and I have our paddock…we are right in the middle of everything. It is absolutely fabulous!
Chris Balmes asked yesterday in the Diary Responses if TASTY and I will continue to be together once we have our foals. The answer is YES. The normal plan is to keep ‘foaling mares’ who are due at the same time together. Once their babies are born…they are able stay together as their foals are approximately the same age. Obviously, MOTHER NATURE plays a part in all of this…but that is the plan at this time.
My FARM FAMILY is so forward thinking. I believe this is one of the reasons they wanted TASTY and I together from the beginning. Not only do WE get along fabulously and our personalities blend together extremely well…but our paths in life are very similar. We are both ‘maiden’ or first time mares having our first foals. We were bred and conceived on exactly the same day…which I personally think is TOO CUTE. Thus, our babies are due at exactly the same time. All of this establishes a wonderful pattern which should allow US to remain friends for quite some time. LUCKY US!
On another note, when I wrote the entry for yesterday’s Diary, I did not know about the passing of INDIAN CHARLIE. ALL BLESSINGS to him! What a wonderful racehorse and stallion! HE will be deeply missed.
I imagine all of this is truly a reminder that LIFE is so very precious. It is important to treasure and appreciate each moment as it is happening…and the FRIENDS you are sharing these special times with each day!
To ALL OF YOU, who are so special and have shared so much with ME each day….here’s wishing YOU a peaceful and wonderful weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

AP Indy was named after the Autopolis (AP) auto racing course built by his owner Tomonori Tsurumaki….Indy is believed to be for the Indy 500 or the fact that the Autopolis costs 500 million (no typo) to build. His owner is also famous for paying 51.3 million for a Picasso in the 90’s…and he proudly displays it at the Autopolis!!

@BLINGO- You gained at least 5 races worth of experience today. You got bumped so hard…and everything that could happen to hinder your race seemed to happen…yet, you still keep trying , & came on strong in the end to finish 5th. I was so PROUD of your effort. I believe you will be star. You are just beyond beutiful…and I am in LOVE!…psst…please tell Mr. Commons I said hello..

@Sign. Campaigning Frankel into his fourth year may not be the end of his racing career. If he does well, he could go on like Twice Over, who is one of Sir Henry Cecil’s favorites. Although Frankel races on turf, Cecil has said that he thinks that Frankel would not have a problem on other surfaces, such is the will and determination of that horse. Frankel is unbelievable. He has to be held back by his jockey most of the time because he just loves to run flat out and to win. When he is let go as in the 2000 Guineas, the results are truly outstanding.

@Kari Bussell–I do know where Soddy Daisy is–have passed the sign many times–lol!

@Karen Gogue; This is a fabulous idea; Christmas cards!!

@Kari Bussel; Thanks you for those links! Two years in a row I’ve been to Lanes End; I fell in love with AP!! (gorgeous picture of AP in office, when he was younger) Got to kiss him, feed him peppermints & carrots as okay with groom; had my picture taken hugging him!! I feel bad for Sue F., well you all know the story.

@Max
Wondered if Frankel may be able to tackle other
Surfaces. I have heard equine conformation may determine
that. It really would be awesome if he came here in 2012.
Is Twice Over a race? On the link you provided, the 2000
Guiness was amazing. He just loves to run so much.

Did you see Blingo (The Mosses) run yesterday?
He was so reved up in post parade, on his toes,
Shaking his head and he even bit his pony. Second
Race after winning Maiden on turf, Zenny style.
He came in fifth, not sure if he did not like the track
Or did not settle. I remember John Sherriffs saying
The Artie Shiller’s are head strong. The showed video
Of John talking to him after he was saddled. He reminds
Me of Frankel, color wise.

Can’t wait to see Blingo’s next race. Bumped badly out of the gate and the worst possible trip but still placed 5th and he never gave up. I think he’ll run them into the ground the next race

Hi Zenny, I’m a few days behind on comments. Hope to catch up soon. I just wanted to share this link, http://billingsgazette.com/news/local/great-great-grandmother-rides-again-thanks-to-hospice-program/article_260d24e8-9aa7-54d9-9370-96fd68e8d828.html

Thanks for info on what AP stands for. Thought it
was from the car world. Some money, must be nice.
So glad Indy stayed in the US and did not get shipped
To Japan.

@Kari. Thank you for the explanation of AP Indy’s name. The link to him and Lane’s End was very interesting. His grandson, Stay Thirsty, looks a lot like him. He is a very handsome horse and a great racer. His win in the Belmont was really great.

@Abigail in Montreal: HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you! I hope that you are enjoying the sights and sounds of New York at Christmas. It is nothing short of Fairyland at this time of year. (Perhaps there is an express train to Acqueduct!)

@Mary B @Max
Thanks for reminding me about the bump out
Of the gate. It was pretty bad. Commentators said
He needed to go back to the turf. Maybe not so !!!!

@Max
Sorry for being dense, Twice Over the horse.
That would be awesome to see Frankel at 5.
I love seeing these talented greats stay racing.
Lost revenue to stud later, but such enjoyment
For fans. Thanks so much for the update.

@Sign. It is always good for racing to have champion horses like Zenyatta who can race for longer than at just the ages of 2 and 3 years. There are some horses who can race and still win at 9, but they have to have very good trainers like John Shirreffs or Henry Cecil, and they have to have their health. Although they look almost invincible, TB horses as we know only too well are delicate and have to be treated with love and care. Luck also plays its part.

@signofthetimes, thank you for posting the Rapid Redux’s article link. I very much appreciate it. I hope people will read it.

Thanks for mentioning it, I missed it.
Went on his Facebook page an am now a fan.
Some really cute photos of him without blinkers.
He looks so fierce with them on, and such a very
Kind and gentle face and eye.

@Max
Oh, yes, because of their huge heart they must
be well cared for. As humans we must tell them
“you have to take a day off” as they will keep
Going. Twice Over was foaled in 2005 and ran this
Year as a Champion. Will he run next year???

A (Provisional) Birthday Poem
December 18, 2011
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for letting us know
You likely won’t today check in
On Z’s site
’Cuz you’re in New York on a spin
To see its delights
And take it all in.
And though
I you a poem owe,
Our semester is in “finals” phase,
So
Please give me a few days
To find adequate ways
To sing your praise!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ABIGAIL!
Dearest Zenyatta,
Barn 55 must be feeling very pleased following Blingo’s big effort in yesterday’s Hollywood Park Futurity! In only the second start of his career, following a breath-taking maiden win on turf three weeks ago, he experienced a less than ideal trip in a large and contentious field of super-talented contenders. His courageous wilingness to run, despite having been made sandwich filler by two opponents at the start, was especially impressive . I am looking forward with much anticipation to following this high-spirited son of Artie Schiller’s career!
Dear Z, Dottie and Z Fans:
Love the early morning photos of you; you’re just magnificent. Showed one of the CNA nurses, who is helping out with Russ, your print by Jamie Corum. She looked at it and said “She’s magnificent”! Seems like it’s the Universal opinion. Love you and love to all of you, Judy and Russ
@Sign. As far as I know, Twice Over is still in training. You may remember that he finished third in the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Classic to Zenyatta. A fantastic win for the Queen. Every race of Zenyatta’s is just beyond thrilling, especially her run in the BCC in 2010. Incredible athletic ability and all heart from Z in that race especially.
Anita Hillseth
I was so fortunate to have been alive and living in the Los Angeles area when Zenyatta came along. I first saw her in 2008 when I turned on the TV in order to watch Ginger Punch in the 2008 Apple Blossom at Oaklawn Park. But it was Zenyatta that so impressed me in that race and from that time on I never missed another of her races. In 2010 when I was at Hollywood Park to watch her run in the Vanity Handicap they gave out a dvd of her first 14 races and I was wondering if a dvd of all 20 races will ever become available?
Delrene from Carlsbad - (California)
Good Afternoon on ( Sunday) I re watched the Cash Call Futurity and kept my eyes on Blingo…. wow, he just kept coming. after all his troubles he did a respectable 5th ! Congrats to him and his trainer and connections. Hope you and TT are toasty and having a good time today. Must get your picture hung today…. It’s my goal!!
Weemissfrankie Update: Trainer Peter Eurton says she is recovering well at HP and will start five-minute walks next week. He expects her to have “four months off.” You go, girl!
Blingo seems to be talented. You are lucky
To see him on the track in CA. Mike really put
Him in the middle of the pack at the end and he
Just ate it up. Mike taught him a lot of lessons
In that race. Can’t wait for his next one. Hope his pony survives the bites.
Talking Heads were all discussing his On the Muscle
Look in the post parade.
Did not realize Twice Over came in third in
BCC 2009. That really was a very impressive win
Zenny. I think the BCC 2010 was her best race,
it really showed all of her talent and really was. HOY
Performance. Blame won with the perfect trip,
She came in 2nd on a track she hated, from 20
Lengths behind and a truck load of dirt in her face.
Not sure Frankel can go more than a mile, I guess with
These wins by so many lenghths maybe.
