Good Morning, Everyone!
I truly love to stand in my paddock and GREET all of my Lane’s End Pals as they are busy driving around the farm and working. I must say that is one of the greatest parts of where TASTY and I have our paddock…we are right in the middle of everything. It is absolutely fabulous!
Chris Balmes asked yesterday in the Diary Responses if TASTY and I will continue to be together once we have our foals. The answer is YES. The normal plan is to keep ‘foaling mares’ who are due at the same time together. Once their babies are born…they are able stay together as their foals are approximately the same age. Obviously, MOTHER NATURE plays a part in all of this…but that is the plan at this time.
My FARM FAMILY is so forward thinking. I believe this is one of the reasons they wanted TASTY and I together from the beginning. Not only do WE get along fabulously and our personalities blend together extremely well…but our paths in life are very similar. We are both ‘maiden’ or first time mares having our first foals. We were bred and conceived on exactly the same day…which I personally think is TOO CUTE. Thus, our babies are due at exactly the same time. All of this establishes a wonderful pattern which should allow US to remain friends for quite some time. LUCKY US!
On another note, when I wrote the entry for yesterday’s Diary, I did not know about the passing of INDIAN CHARLIE. ALL BLESSINGS to him! What a wonderful racehorse and stallion! HE will be deeply missed.
I imagine all of this is truly a reminder that LIFE is so very precious. It is important to treasure and appreciate each moment as it is happening…and the FRIENDS you are sharing these special times with each day!
To ALL OF YOU, who are so special and have shared so much with ME each day….here’s wishing YOU a peaceful and wonderful weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Thank you Kari and Judy/JAG for your links. I am very glad that Zenny and Tasty will remain together if mother nature cooperates. Good to see Scott Brown on board with the anti-horse slaughter bill.

@Shannon from Cool: better get out an eraser and scritch out that foaling date for Zenny. See, here’s how it is – JAG has harped so much on having that foal born on March 9 (John Henry’s birthday) that I think even Zenny is afraid to do otherwise! I’ve thrown in the towel on a St. Paddy’s Day baby. Sigh. Maybe Tasty can fill in.
diastu in tempe (will be happy with two healthy foals regardless)

Everytime I see a picture of you—I wish I was there hugging you!! Keep watching and greeting all those on the farm. I love people watching myself. I am glad you, Tasty and your foals can be together.
Have a relaxing week-end Z. Always thinking of you.
love with 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z

@Diana S
Maiden mares not usually foal early. Her due date is
March 10 plus or minus 10 days. St Patty’s day is definately
A possibility, and maybe a wish for a date with
Galileo.

To all—Soon Post #400 will be here! Hasn’t time flown? Keep in mind though that we did jump directly from #100 on March 5 to #201 on March 10, when Z learned of her (first) “in foal” status—she added a PS to that post: “P.S. – This is post #201 to commemorate the second chapter of my life!” Too cute!
@Stephanie in San Diego—That’s a great “surprise” story, and wonderful news about your daughter’s approaching marriage. Please give her our best!
@Daina Ryan—I loved your post about your family connections to Snowman’s Harry DeLeyer. Thanks for sharing.
@Susan in TN—GREAT quote from Black Beauty—it suits Z (and Tasty) to a T! Thanks for letting us in on the dynamics of Chester and Chopper with their new pasture mate Annie. I sure hope they will soon all be VERY happy together.
@JAG— Thanks for posting the link so we can vote NO to eating horse. Unfortunately, the article didn’t even mention the level of dangerous chemicals in North American horses, which by itself should be enough to keep anyone from wanting to eat horsemeat, let alone the cruel methods of transport and slaughter.
@Signofthetimes—Thanks for the post about how it sometimes happens even in a post with one or no links that an “awaiting moderation” appears. Very interesting that your posts did appear following that within a few hours!
@Rosemary McCauley and others who posted about their own families and their ability to laugh at themselves —High hoof and thanks for sharing!
@Kari Bussell—Thank you for persevering with the links! I hope you are sleeping soundly now as I type this.
@Sandy in NE Ohio—I don’t believe anyone has yet responded to your question about the “newsletter” link. I think that the diary entries in practice made the newsletter unnecessary —I think it never got off the ground. And on another topic, you mentioned you are a Sagittarian, and since you haven’t mentioned yet that your birthday had arrived, I’m guessing that it is still coming this week, and I’m posting a little poem for you.

A Birthday Poem for Sandy in Ohio
December 2011
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now that the season
From fall to winter is changing,
We know
Dear Sandy
In Ohio
Has more than one reason
To celebrate:
First, her birthday comes, I believe,
This week,
Then soon it will be
December the twenty-fifth,
For that a gift
Already she did receive—
It’s an ornament of Z
Which will be hanging
This Christmas Eve
On her tree!
If Sandy two wishes could make
To celebrate these dates,
She might first seek
An opportunity
To personally give sweet Z
Peppermint candy!
And then for herself,
Sandy
Might find it really dandy
If Santa or a Christmas elf
To her could bring
A complete recovery of her knee
From that summer surgery!
As the Yule bells ring,
We’ll Happy Birthday sing,
Dear Sandy, for you
And then for the little Christ child too,
And we hope all your wishes come true!
Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas!
@Cynthia H—Please take good care of yourself! I hope you feel better soon.
Zenny, are you done with your Christmas shopping? No doubt Santa will bring you lots of stuff since you have been a very good girl this year. Stay warm and give a HIGH HOOF to TT for us.
Condolences to Indian Charlies’ connections. I’m glad Zenny, that you and Tasty get to continue being roomies. I bet your foals have fun running around together.
Dear Zenny,
Hope you have a great Saturday, it is not too chilly and you make sure every one does their job. I bet every one at Lanes Ends love you to “supervise” their day. ” Yes, Zenny I forgot to do that, thanks for the reminder; Oh Zenny thanks so much for the great compliment on how I am leading out all the mares and bathing them; Zenny thanks for the reminder (whinny), the farrier is here.”
Have a great weekend Big Girl XXXXXOOOOO
