Good Morning, All!
Thank you so much for all of the sweet responses yesterday in relation to my 2 pals…Michelle and Rapid Redux. Michelle called Dottie and commented how extremely touched she is by all of your kind wishes and thoughts. I know she wants to thank you as well…and is writing a POST for you.
As you can see, TASTY and I are doing fine. You can see her grazing in the back of this photo…and her ‘baby bump’. M. Kern and Marshall both asked about US yesterday. WE are doing great and both due in early March! As many of you may remember, both TASTY and I were bred on the exact same day last April. How exciting is this! WE have so much in common in so many ways. She is my very dear friend!
The Holiday rush is definitely upon US. There are some new photos of ME in the SHOP now…just going up today. (Blush, Blush) The ZENYATTASHOP elves are busy getting everything shipped out as soon as possible filling your orders. They want you to have your items in a timely fashion before the holiday.
Blessings to STRIKE THE GOLD! He is in all of our hearts and thoughts!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Hi, sweet girl! Love all your pictures and Tasty’s too of your “baby bumps”. I’m getting more excited with each passing day anticipating your first foal. I think someone yesterday in one of the posts was wondering what the actual “D-Date” is….I believe I recall correctly that you and Bernardini got together the second time on April 1(your birthday!) or the 2nd, so, using the “average” gestation of a horse as 340 days, then your “due date” is approximately March 6 or 7th. This could mean it could be the last week in February or the first week in March. From February 15th on, I’m sure the world will be counting down the days! I’m betting that Ann and Jerry and Dottie and John will all be standing by in person awaiting that big day for your precious little one!
–
I’m still counting on your Facebook page getting to 100,000 at or near your foaling date! Your Facebook page is just over 94,500 fans now! While the pace is a little short of the March 7, date, I think we will get there because of the expected increase in interest as you approach the “D-Date”!

So very proud of your friend, Michelle! What an accomplishment! I envy her the time she spent with you!

Also, am very proud for Rapid Redux! His accomplishment, though at the lower rungs of the racing ladder, has thrown a much-needed spotlight on the part of the sport that makes up 85% of racing activity. And he has done so with class and distinction! His connection have never sought to place their gelding above those great horses, including you, that they are lucky indeed to have been presented with an opportunity to have a small place in history. David Wells, his trainer, has been quoted as saying, in answer to those who would have liked to see RR run against higher quality competition, that their horse would not have been able to be as consistent or successful at a much higher level than where he is now. I believe their plan is to maybe run him in one more race before the end of the year, but they said they will let the horse dictate whether he can get up for one more. David Wells recently said he believes the horse would have “sored up” at much higher levels, and would not have been very successful, that instead of loving what he’s doing, he would have grown to hate it. I believe it was Lafit Pincay who said: “If you define class as getting the very best from the gifts you have been given, then Rapid Redux has as much class as any horse running in North Americay today!” Amen! I hope they give him a small job at the KHP, where they have a place of honor reserved for him! He’s been so active and busy, I would be concerned he might get bored just hanging around his paddock all day with nothing else to do!! He will certainly put on a show, and educate visitors to the Park about the sport and in a positive way! And, that’s a Good Thing!

@All, Merry Christmas and many blessings for this wonderful time of year!

Can’t believe Indian Charlie was euthanized.
I can remember when cancer claimed Lost in The Fog. What a talented individual. What a loss to the breed. Makes me so curious as to what Zenyatta has in store for us in the years to come. Zenyatta’s first foal will have the likes of Spectacular Bid, Seattle Slew and Secretariat on its pedigree and combine the class of Bernardini as well as Zenyatta and the sky is the limit. Oh, what the future holds in store.

@Rest in Peace Indian Charlie. You are one of my favorites and we all loved you for the gift of Uncle Mo, Indian Blessing, and Fleet Indian. You are pain free now. Run with the angels.

We are so sorry to learn of the death of Indian Charlie, son of In Excess and sire of Uncle Mo and other greats. He was only 16. We remember so well meeting In Excess at Vessels Stallion Farm in Bonsall. We took a tour of the farm with some U C Davis veterinary students during the breeding season. It was an unforgettable day. We had visited Azeri at San Luis Rey Downs earlier that day before accompanying the students to San Luis Rey Equine Hospital and later to Vessels. Mares with their newly born foals — there were about 30 foals and it was only February 3. The staff was handling some of the foals for the first time getting them used to human contact by putting on their halters and stroking them. We then proceeded to the stallion area. They brought out several stallions saving the most impressive for last. When In Excess was brought out for our viewing, one could only say — NOW THAT’S A STALLION! He was big, very dark, gorgeous and looked at us with extreme confidence — a West Coast Storm Cat. For those of us in Southern California, In Excess is part of the pedigree of so many horses racing here. While he has been pensioned for the last few years, we will never forget that day almost nine years ago.

I love the picture of you and Tasty in the background. Oh yeah I can see her baby bumps. Two gorgeous mom to be! I hope you guys got the Christmas cards I sent. I love you and have fun outside with Tasty if the weather is good.

It is sad to hear the news regarding Indian Charlie. We can rest assured that God now has him in his Kingdom in Heaven, where there is no pain or suffering. Rest In Peace, Indian Charlie.
Has anyone read the story about “Snowman” The Eighty Dollar Horse ?? It is a Wonderful Story about a horse that was rescued from the slaughter, and becomes the Nations Champion Jumper!!
I sure hope someone writes a book about America’s Queen, Zenyatta. Talk about an inspiring story for all ages!!

You and Tasty are so beautiful, love you Ingrid.

RIP Indian Charlie. He is the reason I became a fan of horse racing. After the SA Derby effort in ’98 I followed him to the Kentucky Derby (first time) and watched him finish a gallant 3rd to Real Quiet. I am saddened but also smiling as his vast progeny continues to succeed. What a special horse like you Zenyatta!

@Michelle, I hope you are still reading the congratulation comments today. It’s a pleasure to see determination and discipline in others, such a great example to all. I also wanted to let you know that the photo of you on Zenyatta is one of my favorites of her…..no shadow roll, stirrups let down low, reins relaxed, ears pricked forward….you two look “cool”…. here we go round the Barn Area, the Barn Area, the Barn Area…. Congratulations again and best wishes as you “earn” your hours of practical training.
