Hello,
The staff at Lane’s End did a fabulous job decorating the office for the holidays! And….YES….my ornament is on the tree. YIPPEE!
There I am! This is my Breyer holiday ornament that we offer in the Zenyatta Shop. It is rather special and I know only a limited number of them were made. The ones we are offering are even more special as they are signed by MY JOHN!
Also, I’d personally like to thank BECKY from Radcliff, Kentucky, for making an ornament of ME for ME. It also has a very special place on the tree.
(OH, there’s ME again at the top of this photo checking everything out! TOO CUTE! Becky, you did a great job! )
What a festive time of the year!
In addition to all of these FUN things, our responsibilities still continue. We have so many people working countless hours to make our industry function as smoothly as possible.
The Racing Symposium has been taking place in Arizona for several days now. The participants are actively working to review and discuss various aspects of our sport. They want to analyze areas which can be further developed so our industry can become stronger…on all levels. This is so worthwhile. Panelists from all over the country are sharing ideas all embracing a similar goal…to make this the best sport possible for everyone involved…both HORSE and HUMAN.
This requires a great deal of hard work. The knowledge and dedication of these individuals is greatly appreciated. I am personally sending each of them a HIGH HOOF for his/her efforts.
Racing Cards around the country are very competitive. I’m hearing the early start to the Gulfstream Park Meet is off to a wonderful beginning. Hollywood Park has several racing days left of their fall meet…and the Grade 1 Starlet for 2 year old fillies is their signature race of the weekend. Other tracks around the country are also offering many other fine racing opportunities!
So much to study and review. I truly want to keep on top of all of these things…so I better get busy!
Have a very special weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Sunny – I agree and the more emphasis placed on Life after Horseracing and other breeds of rescued horses and mustangs and burros? I know Madeline Pickens lives at least part -time in Del Mar and she is involved in Wild Horse legislature. You are right – What a way to introduce all of America to the plight of horses in America. They should be revered!!!! Millions/perhaps billions around the world watch the Rose Parade. I wish I knew who to write to get it going!!!
@Thanks Kennedys – I signed up for BC 2012. And must read about Weemissfrankie.

@signofthetimes—Wow! “Six-year-old Star Guitar captured a record fifth successive win on Louisiana Champions Day” and ”his third consecutive Louisiana Champions Day Classic”(1 mile and 1/8)! The video ended before I could see him in the winner’s circle with his lady owner/breeder, so thanks for painting the word picture and for the link!

Citation’s 1948 at 3 years old. Citation in 1948 had a record of 20 starts, 19 wins for a new single season record. These were all stakes races in mixed company. He won the Triple Crown 1948 (Ky Derby by 3.5 lengths; Preakness by 5.5 lengths; and the Belmont tying the stakes record of 2:281/5 set by Triple Crown winner, Count Fleet.
************************************************************
His three year old year began with two victories over the older horse, Armed, who was HOY 1947. Very unusual for younger horses to defeat an older horse early in their 3 year old year especially a to handicap star like Armed. In his three year old year he won the Triple Crown as mentioned above and finished the year with 2 more stakes wins. His total career record for two years was 27 victories and two seconds in 29 starts.
**********************************************************
Citation came back to race as a five and six year old after a year off with an osselet injury. He was the first race horse to win a million dollars.

GO RAPID REDUX GO GO GO !!!!!!!

Hi. Just love your picture on your previous diary. You look awesome, as usual. Love the Christmas tree – I just love decorating for the holidays!!! Your ornament is just the perfect decoration and gift. Love you big girl. What a great weekend of racing. Wish I could have attended Louisiana Champions Day at Fair Grounds. Star Gitar is so gorgeous and what a champion. High hoof to him for his third Classic in a row. Sorry about Wemissfrankie. Not sure if she will race again, just as long as she lives to become a great mommie. Margano, Barbaro’s full brother, won at Gulfstream. Boy, he looks so much like his brother. What a gorgeous 2 year old. One of my favorites, Ron the Greek, won at Aqueduct. I just love this horse. Has a new racing technique, stays close to the pace, used to be a deep closer. Also, a two year old, Pollard’s Boy, won PA Nursery, a race that I watched Smarty Jones win. I have always loved Pollard’s Vission, and now as a sire, I think he is awesome. Stay toasty, eat well for two, enjoy your romps and talks with Tasty and your barnyard friends. Love you, Angel.

Wonderful tree and ornament of YOU! Love it.

Lovely tree! It’s even more beautiful with you on it, Queen Z! My husband surprised me with a Z ornament which is now gracing our Xmas tree. To Jag – Thanks for the link to Daniel’s video. Our 6 cats are fascinated by the tree and have been checking out the packages and their new toy. We had pics taken of our 3 Saluki girls and our teenage cat. We look silly, but the pets were TOO CUTE!

All the dogs that served in Vietnam war so bravely

Star Guitar’s owner is a very petite southern
Lady, who loves him dearly. Will look to see
If I can find the video of her leading him, with
The jockey still aboard into the winners circle.
It was a very precious moment.

Oh Zenny,and everyone….
I just bought the soundtrack of WAR HORSE. (at Barnes&Noble) Award grammy winning John Williams is the composter and conductor. I haven’t finished it yet. Up to 5 of 16 tracks now, and it is so awesome. Love it, as I love you Zenny!
… A couple years ago I was excited to get his autograph and a photo with him. (rehearsal at Hollywood Bowl) .. Now I can treasure this even more!
Take care Zenny, Hugs….

CITATION AND SAGGY CHESAPEAKE STAKES 1948; (NY TIMES article 1998)
“His only loss at 3 came in his fifth start of the year. He was beaten by Saggy on a muddy track in the Chesapeake Trial Stakes at Havre de Grace in Maryland.
That was the first time he was ridden by Eddie Arcaro, who took over after the regular rider, Al Snider, disappeared–never to be found–while on a fishing trip in Florida.
“It was a terrible day,” Jones said. “Normally, I would have scratched him, but Eddie had flown all the way from California. He misjudged the pace a little bit, then some old bushwhack rider carried him wide on the turn.
“He was pushed out to the fence. By the time he shook loose, Saggy had got away to a [big] lead. [Citation] came running, but he got beat a length.” “
