Hello,
The staff at Lane’s End did a fabulous job decorating the office for the holidays! And….YES….my ornament is on the tree. YIPPEE!
There I am! This is my Breyer holiday ornament that we offer in the Zenyatta Shop. It is rather special and I know only a limited number of them were made. The ones we are offering are even more special as they are signed by MY JOHN!
Also, I’d personally like to thank BECKY from Radcliff, Kentucky, for making an ornament of ME for ME. It also has a very special place on the tree.
(OH, there’s ME again at the top of this photo checking everything out! TOO CUTE! Becky, you did a great job! )
What a festive time of the year!
In addition to all of these FUN things, our responsibilities still continue. We have so many people working countless hours to make our industry function as smoothly as possible.
The Racing Symposium has been taking place in Arizona for several days now. The participants are actively working to review and discuss various aspects of our sport. They want to analyze areas which can be further developed so our industry can become stronger…on all levels. This is so worthwhile. Panelists from all over the country are sharing ideas all embracing a similar goal…to make this the best sport possible for everyone involved…both HORSE and HUMAN.
This requires a great deal of hard work. The knowledge and dedication of these individuals is greatly appreciated. I am personally sending each of them a HIGH HOOF for his/her efforts.
Racing Cards around the country are very competitive. I’m hearing the early start to the Gulfstream Park Meet is off to a wonderful beginning. Hollywood Park has several racing days left of their fall meet…and the Grade 1 Starlet for 2 year old fillies is their signature race of the weekend. Other tracks around the country are also offering many other fine racing opportunities!
So much to study and review. I truly want to keep on top of all of these things…so I better get busy!
Have a very special weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@All: Sheesh! I leave the Diary for a day or two and I come back to find I’m fighting with Terry Crow for top billing! So many things I could say – – – but I’ll let age go before beauty! (I’m sure he’ll have a comeback.)
@Zenny: In this troubling world, I thank you for letting us get a little comic relief here. (But he came back.)

Dear Zenyatta – Please let all your fans and friends know the voting for the Vox Populi award has now commenced. I found it through the Thoroughbred Times Alert. All horses are deserving, I have to admit I was disappointed our little cutie Blind Luck isn’t on the list, but did vote for the horse I considerd the most deserving!!! Love your tree, ordering your ornament signed by John is my next order of business.
Take care all, drive safely, lots of traffic in So Cal – one of the down things to living in this great state. I remember fondly the country roads in and around Kentucky when I last visited. Stay warm and safe…..http://www.secretariat.com/fan-club/vox-populi-award/

Ordered two ornaments! How exciting! I may have to put up a tree this year, just so I can hang one up!

The Christmas Tree looks beautiful Zenny and you have two ornaments. How cute that you have a hand made ornament from Becky and it looks just like you. The office is a nice homey place and Dawn’s Mom did sit reading her book last summer when we had our tour. You are one lucky mare to live at such a great place as Lane’s End.
@ Patty Smith – Happy Birthday Patty, enjoy you day an cheer on the family horses.
@ Diana S – Are you in training for the Christmas Dash to the carousel? Be nice and let your grandkids ride Zenny.

The tree at Lane’s End is very pretty and it is great that your ornaments are on the tree, making it the quite special indeed.
I am so glad to hear that there are many people working on areas of the horse racing sport to make it better for everyone involved. I truly hope that the sport keeps on getting better and better and of course is around for the next hundred years and on.
Looking forward to the races this weekend especially those at Hollywood Park, enjoy watching them so much.
Take care Zenyatta and have a great weekend. Sending my Love & Blessings to you!

Happy Weekend to you and Tasty…..and of course, Dottie too!

Dear Zenyatta. How I love seeing your ornament on the lovely Lane’s End tree. I know it will be on many, many Christmas trees from coast to coast including my own!! The spirit of Christmas is alive and well with you as part of it my sweet. How special is that! It is wonderful to hear about the Racing Symposium. I do so love the sport of horse racing and I want to see it grow and remain strong. The history of the sport is such an amazing part of American history as a whole. Of course the most important thing is making the horses and their care as well as retirement plans a priority. It is so important to promote the involvement of fans just like you and Team Z did Zenny!! I hope that progress continues! It was so kind of you to welcome Sarah back from her time away with special Z kisses. How we all dream about receiving some of those ourselves. I know you two must share a very special relationship she cares so much about you. She is there every day checking to be sure you are happy and healthy. The picture she shared of you yesterday was very beautiful. There is a quote I recently read in a book from the Prophet’s words in the Koran which made me think of you and your beauty Zenny. After God had fulfilled his word, he addressed the newly created mare as follows: “I have made thee without an equal: the goods of this world shall be placed between thy eyes: everywhere I will make thee happy and preferred above all the beasts of the field, for tenderness everywhere shall be in the heart of the master; good alike for the chase and retreat, thou shalt fly though wingless. . . Love you more than the stars in the sky. Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@All – Once again I just have to thank my Z family for making my birthday the best one ever!!!! Your generosity of spirit and kind words brought more joy than you will ever know. Trina’s poem was a wonderful forever gift! Love and hugs to you all!!
@Shari – My dear friend, thank you so much for my special birthday phone call. You are such a blessing in my life!
@Susan in TN – I just love hearing about all the sweeties and how they are doing. Is Rusty with Pepsi now? It seems like most of the horses I got to meet have been adopted out, which is fantastic.
@Brenda S – How fun that Vic’s 18th birthday is coming up. She must be very excited!! I so enjoyed meeting you all at Lane’s End. You, Vic and Susan are very special ladies and it was such a wonderful day, seeing all of the stallions and meeting our Sarah.
@Kari – Hello, beautiful. It was lovely to hear about your Ginger. We do share so much! The videos that you have been posting the last couple of days have been fantastic. Every time I watch the HOTY piece I cry, which just means my joy is overflowing! It was so wonderful to have our Zenyatta receive that recognition and to witness Team Z’s hearts bursting with happiness makes my own do likewise.
@Debbie G – The first time I went to Hawaii I visited the Arizona. One does get a feeling of reverence when you step onto the memorial and look over the side at what remains of the battleship. And reading the names of those lost engraved on the wall is very moving. I have gotten the same feeling when I have visited Gettysburg and some other Civil War sites. Looking out across those fields and remembering the sadness of what happened there.
@Abigail – I hope Daisy is feeling better! Your post about what this diary site means to you echoes what is in all of our hearts so very beautifully. I know we are all richer for having you in our lives as well. I have to share a story about our new Christmas kitty. Laurie, one of my co-workers discovered a small starving kitty on her doorstep about a week ago. She did not know where she had come from, but she started giving her food and asking around the neighborhood if anyone had lost her. No one claimed her. Laurie has three large Ragdoll cats of her own, so she did not what to adopt the little one permanently. She asked me if I might be interested. Mother had mentioned wanting a new cat, as hers had passed away over a year ago. I said yes and I took the kitty to the vet to be sure everything was alright with her. As it turned out, she had been shot with a Beebe gun and there was an abscess to take care of. I told the vet to do what was needed. Do you believe that after all that had occurred, she laid on the examine table and purred and rubbed her head against us. She is so sweet. I gave her to mother yesterday and they have bonded right away. We are thinking of Christmas names for her. It is amazing how these sweet little lost souls in need come into our lives when we least expect it. I was so happy that mother and I were there for her. RIP Shahrastani.
@Heidi – How I loved the video you shared. It is so uplifting!!! Zenyatta is definitely our horse of forever.
@Helen Donnelly – I am so sorry you had to admit your husband to the hospital. You will both be in my thoughts and prayers.
@JAG – Thank you for helping to keep Zenyatta’s candles burning. I went in to light some more last night. I agree, our angel Zenyatta would be perfect for the top of the tree. The picture of the howling duet was TOO CUTE! RIP Kingston Rule.
@Daina – Thank you for the info on Horseracing Divas. I am going to order it this weekend. It has been on my list of books to purchase. It sounds fantastic I love all of those amazing female racing stars.
@Terry Crow – Welcome back and thank you for your great sense of humor!
@KikiSim – You don’t have to write anything to be welcomed into this family of Z-sters, just loving Zenyatta is more than enough!
@Adrianna – Happy Birthday!!! Trina’s poem was wonderful. I hope you have a very special birthday. I so enjoy hearing about what you and your Mom are doing at the horse rescue. It is so wonderful that those horses in need are receiving your extra special love. You both show the Christmas spirit all year round.
@Mary Hale – I watched your video link first thing this morning. What a joyful way to start the day. Thank you for sharing!
@Tiffany Vaughn – I am very glad that your sister is doing so much better!! I will continue to keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.
@Debbie from Ohio – Wecome fellow Z-ster!!!!! So nice to hear from you. Wow, 30 years as a thoroughbred owner! You must have some great stories, hope you will share some along the way!
@Patty Smith – Have a wonderful birthday weekend at Hollywood Park. How fun!! Wish I could join you!

Good evening Zenyatta,
what smashing ornaments of you on the tree !!! Too cute :)
I know of one thing that could improve the image of racing, and that would be to let you make an appearance at the Rose Bowl Parade or have EbbyLou stand in for you this
January, and may be next Jan. it could really be you. And may be have famous actors ride rescue horses right along side you. Like have a racing float with a different famous racehorse every year following your appearance. Think may be sby at the roundtable could mention sthg like this.
Sleep tight and dream sweet
Sally B. (Wi)
Sweet Z; What a perfect tree especially since your ornaments decorating it. Becky’s is real cute too. Everything becomes so special because of you, mama Z!
I hope it is not as cold as it is here in Wi.
I love you; 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z (I was shopping with my 3 grandkids. They are my human loves)
@Zenyatta and Zsters
This Sunday I will be back into football sports: The Packers!! Husband & I received an early Christmas present; tickets up at GreenBay to see them win there 13th!! So I will have my layers on & my GB coat, GB pom poms (from years ago). If you see a crazy older lady on TV, one who looks like the Pillsbury Doughboy, it is me.
Sally B. (Wi)
@Abigail of Montreal; I am slow but sure in reading posts. I wanted to let you know I am very happy for you getting “Daisy Mae”. I actually named a chocolate lab Daisy Mae! Daisy fit her. I Lost her to Leukemia at 9yrs. I was so devastated I thought no more.! My oldest son eventually convinced me to go with him to look at a litter of black labs a couple months later. I gave her the AKC name ” Sweet Jessie Black”. Jessie was an evil evil pup, but turned out to be the greatest friend. I have walked many miles with my friends of the past. Jessie lived just shy of 13 yrs. It has been three years without her. I don’t know if I can go through the heartache again. So I am tickled that this one came along and it was meant to be for you and with you. Congrats.
Brenda S..Ontario, Canada
@Sally B – My daughter won’t be at Green Bay but she’ll have her hooves crossed for the 13th win. She has some Packers winter wear on her Christmas list so I hope her husband (a Patriots fan) has been really paying attention. Have a very merry early Christmas.
Paula Higgins
Love your tree Zenny!! I think it is great Dottie that the industry is getting together to improve the sport for its equine and human participants. I think this is also necessary to attract more people to the sport and for improving standards. Have a wonderful weekend everone. I pick up my matted and framed Zenyatta print tomorrow from the framers. Can’t wait!!!
