Hello,
The staff at Lane’s End did a fabulous job decorating the office for the holidays! And….YES….my ornament is on the tree. YIPPEE!
There I am! This is my Breyer holiday ornament that we offer in the Zenyatta Shop. It is rather special and I know only a limited number of them were made. The ones we are offering are even more special as they are signed by MY JOHN!
Also, I’d personally like to thank BECKY from Radcliff, Kentucky, for making an ornament of ME for ME. It also has a very special place on the tree.
(OH, there’s ME again at the top of this photo checking everything out! TOO CUTE! Becky, you did a great job! )
What a festive time of the year!
In addition to all of these FUN things, our responsibilities still continue. We have so many people working countless hours to make our industry function as smoothly as possible.
The Racing Symposium has been taking place in Arizona for several days now. The participants are actively working to review and discuss various aspects of our sport. They want to analyze areas which can be further developed so our industry can become stronger…on all levels. This is so worthwhile. Panelists from all over the country are sharing ideas all embracing a similar goal…to make this the best sport possible for everyone involved…both HORSE and HUMAN.
This requires a great deal of hard work. The knowledge and dedication of these individuals is greatly appreciated. I am personally sending each of them a HIGH HOOF for his/her efforts.
Racing Cards around the country are very competitive. I’m hearing the early start to the Gulfstream Park Meet is off to a wonderful beginning. Hollywood Park has several racing days left of their fall meet…and the Grade 1 Starlet for 2 year old fillies is their signature race of the weekend. Other tracks around the country are also offering many other fine racing opportunities!
So much to study and review. I truly want to keep on top of all of these things…so I better get busy!
Have a very special weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Terry Crow, I just read several days worth of posts, and even though I was anticipating a punch line, the “stud” definition yesterday had me LoL. Thanks.

By the way, Exclusively Equine has beautiful photos of Zenyatta, Rachel Alexandra, Barbaro, Frankel, Secretariat and many others, great books, a big throw with Zenyatta’s photo, and other great items – as well as the ornament.
But most of all, happy Christmas to everyone, especially to lovely Zenny – I love you, sweetie!

Hi Z and Dottie
It’s fairly late Sun evening. But I wanted to tell you that I finally got my picture back from the framers. It is so beautiful.
My assistant helped me hang it in the living room. Her words such as they are! Whoo, beautiful, amazing. She couldn’t get over how dazzling that picture really is.
For a long time I’ve had this blank wall in my living room. I have been waiting for just the right picture. I am so glad I waited. It is so stunning.
Now I can look over at Z all day long, when I feel good, when I’m ill and just because. I can dream dreams for her of a happy healthy baby. I can easily picture her tummy getting larger with baby on board.
It is one of the most amazing pictures I think I’ve ever seen. Jaime did a totally amazing outstanding job. She captured EVERYTHING Z. The dapples, the gleam of her coat, the dance. Her head up and how proud she is and the self confidence she exudes. Even the thinness of Z’s tail which we know isn’t draft horse thick.
If anyone here is wondering if they should get this picture–you won’t be disappointed. It’s worth paying for non glare glass. I didn’t and am thinking I will see if I can change that.
I also chose to frame it in a white frame. There is a white border surrounding Z and for me–I wanted people’s eye to track to Z not the frame. So if someone comes into my home and says “What a beautiful horse” then I’ll know I’ve done right.
Wow Z, I can look at you all day long now. Thanks for brightening my home, not pooping on the carpet!, and just being my friend.

@Margaret – I’m very “patiently” or trying to be patient for my picture. The framers are very busy this time of year and it was supposed to be ready Sat, but it is not. So will wait a few more days. I love how you described the perfect spot. I found this article about a charity founded a number of years ago for “War horses”. I hope some ofthe rescue groups for equines can somehow see if Mr. Spielberg would be interested in donating some of the proceeds to help these worthwhile rescue groups. Just a thought…http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/dec/11/war-horse-charity-boost

Hello gorgeous. I received my Zenyatta Christmas tree ornament. Love it, love it, love it. You are near the top next to the angel. One angel next to the other angel! How special is that?
Love hugs and kisses

Dear Zenny,
A top of this crisp morning to you and TT. I bet you have eaten and are now out in your paddock for a romp doing your voluntary exercise. Hope Matt has a manicure and pedicure scheduled and a lovely lukewarm bath so you can put your sweater on later. Maybe you have it on now. Soon to get my Bernardini moneigh. He is such an artist, just like you are. Have a good day. XXXXOOOO

Love the link to the poly cat. I have a cat with 22 toes named Ruffian. On his front feet he has “thumbs” He will use them to hold & catch stuff. They look like mittens. Too cute! Here is a link to a video. Hope it works.

Terry Crow
@signofthetimes-I have mentioned this before, but since he has been a topic of conversation lately, I always thought that on e of the most remarkable things about Citation is that he ran in a race, and won it, between the Preakness and the Belmont. Doubt if that will ever happen again. I think that two-tear-old races should be dropped from the BC. @Diana S-Sounds dangerous. I don’t move as fast I used to. @Cynthia H-Hope everything is OK with your job at SA. @Vicki B-THank you. Great redneck jokes. @Rosemary McCauley and Diana S, charter members of the Arizona/New Mexico chapter-You might be a redneck if, in preparation for your upcoming wedding, you register your tupperware pattern. @Judy Berube, president of New England Chapter-you might be a redneck if the Salvation Army comes to your house and takes the wrong furniture. @Susan in TN and Kari Bussell-you might be a redneck if someone accuses you of lying through your tooth. You might be a redneck if there is more carpet on your toilet than on your floor. You might be a redneck if you put pantyhose over your head to keep the flies off and forgot to take it off when you walked into the bank. Will post a joke later.

@Terry Crow
Yes, I could not believe Citation raced between the Preakness and Belmont and actually had such an ambitious three year old campaign. Wish there were some videos; not in 1948. Maybe Lonhro will help improve soundness in US TB’s.
He is a very sound, talented sire and track stallion. Loved the jokes Sat and today. Thanks for returning safe and sound.

@Patricia
Love Equally Equine, can’t believe they have all of the calendars on their site. Thanks for posting. Someone else posted the cover a few posts ago with Zenny on it.

@Terry Crow and @Signofthetimes, actually, top horses used to run a lot more frequently than they do now. There are multiple historical instances of horses running stakes races close together. Just a few examples: In 1959, Sword Dancer was second in the Preakness, won the Metropolitan Handicap, then won the Belmont. Arts and Letters (1969) was second in the Derby and Preakness, won the Met ‘Cap, and won the Belmont. Conquistador Cielo (1982) skipped the Derby and Preakness, won the Met ‘Cap, then won the Belmont 6 days later. Gulch, our buddy at Old Friends, ran in all three Triple Crown races. He won the Metropolitan and was 3rd in the Belmont.

I thought the BC juvenile races were pretty good this year, although there may be a few too many. I would not get rid of all of them, though. I enjoyed Hansen versus Union Rags.
Pam Zacek,
Love that tree, and yup, what a good ornament, I wish I could get one, and hang it on the window, for the whole year. They did a great Job, tree is beautiful, and you should be on the top, I agree with some of the posts, top posts, well, have a great, day , keep that baby warm, and all of us are praying, for a nice easy delievery, and you, and Baby, go romping, together, now that is a picture I truly want to see..Thanks again Dottie for all these diarys, there all so great..
Paul
Zenyatta, they did a great job of decorating the Lane’s End Farm office and Christmas tree. Furthermore, they did put the decoration of you on their tree, which I’m very happy about. I should pay a visit to the Zenyatta shop and get a Zenyatta ornament for myself. That is a beautiful ornament. The designer of it did a great job.
