Happy Thursday,
It is so pretty outside this morning. It is cool, brisk…yet totally comfortable and gorgeous! This is my second December in Lexington…so I gather this is their normal weather pattern for this time of the year. I rather like it!
Please note how my paddock fence is so white from the frost!
If I say so myself, I look PRETTY AS A PICTURE! (Blush, Blush!)
Sarah just stopped by to see ME a few moments ago…and I was giving her tons of kisses. She was on holiday for a few days recently…so I wanted to be sure to personally ‘welcome her back’!
People are quite busy now getting ready for the holidays. In the main office here at Lane’s End…the staff is decorating and putting up the Christmas Tree. Hmmm! I wonder if they will have MY ORNAMENT on it? Hope so! I’ll have to check this out!
Wishing you a lovely day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Zenyatta, you look just lovely. What do you want for Christmas?
Barbara Grimaldi/NJ
JENNIFER ADELMAN: how sad to read that about Uncle Mo. He certainly has had a few rough years. I wonder if all the medication he was taking to cure his illness has had an adverse effect on him. Such a gifted horse…
Kari Bussell/sending prayers & love from Tn.
@Barbara Wood – Congratulations! You must be thrilled. It is such fun and JOY when those we love and admire get the respect and awards they love. My husband & I both wanted him to win.
@Sue Freddrick -Go Badgers!.. I am a honorary cheese-head also! I want you to know how touched I was by what you said about taking me with you if you won a visit. It is one of those things a person never forgets…Would you mind contacting me privately please?
@Alabama Z’sters (Amanda) Go BAMA!…sorry Kate..I lived in Mobile, from 2 to 18 months-lol!
@Barbara Wood – I meant to ask you this yesterday, but I got distracted with the other subject we “discussed” LOL! Did you see where my beloved Pat Summitt (Head coach Lady Vol!) was named Sports Illustrated Woman of the Year. JOY!
@Debbie G- I am still laughing at the Tn. & Ky. baby fans reaction to our loss you sent me. We can still hear KY.’s way to loud music and the dancing in the streets Still going on. I am confident Ky. will be penalized for excessive celebration next year when you play here. Rocky Top will be played louder, more often,(if that is possible) and sung even more off key.LOL!
-I am responding from the bottom and working my way up reading comments and links. If someone has already mentioned this, but I wanted to make sure everyone knows this it before I forget.
@ALL-THE NEW HBO SERIES “LUCK”
WILL HAVE A ONE TIME ONLY SNEAK PREVIEW OF PILOT THIS SUNDAY AT 10:00 EASTERN.

FOR THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW ALREADY IT IS ABOUT HORSE RACING. I HOPE IT IS A HUGE SUCESS . I DO LOVE THIS SPORT!

Dearest Zenny, It’s very early in the morning here in So Cal, but in Tampa, Florida, fifth-grader Adrianna may be getting up at any moment, and today she celebrating her eleventh birthday (note: she and her family pronounce the third syllable of her name like “Ann”).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Birthday Poem for Adrianna
December 9, 2011
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have read
In the posts of her mother
’Bout Adrianna
And her thrillin’
Rides on William,
The rescued thoroughbred.
Adrianna’s the daughter
Who decided maybe she oughtta
Take a look see
At what could be
A shared activity
With her mother.
Mom is none other
Than Kim S on Z’s site,
Who, inspired by Susan in TN,
Thought she just might
Go and see
If she could help out at Equestrian Inc.,
And Adrianna soon the same did think!
Now at that rescue she is known
For the kindnesses she has shown,
And also her wit they extol.
Today she’s eleven turning,
And it seems she’s now yearning
Even more to be learning
About how to cajole
And gently control
That frisky ex-racer.
After their sessions,
She gives William a bath
And a loving caress
With her gentle touch,
And coos to him he’s the best.
Also at school
She’s nobody’s fool:
She’s great with her lessons–
’Specially in math
She rules—
Yes, Adrianna
Is a top banana!
She’s a true test-acer,
And on the honor roll—
You’d better believe it–to boot!
So let’s run the flag up the pole
And give a happy birthday salute
To this fine young lady
Who in the fifth-grade
Has so much
“Made
In the shade!”
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADRIANNA, AND MANY MORE!

@Helen Donnelly in MI—I’ve gotten behind in reading the comments, so I’m a little tardy in wishing your husband a speedy recovery, and you both a swift return home in good shape—With love from one born and raised in Michigan. (You can take the girl out of Michigan, but you can’t take the Michigan out of the girl, right, Terry Crow?)

Good morning Zenny, We have frost on the fences this morning and it’s already started to snow. I don’t think we’ll get too much and, unlike you, I don’t like to play in it so I hope it doesn’t hang around. I like it start snowing in the afternoon of Christmas Eve and them melt on the day after Christmas. I hope that you and Tasty have a lovely day, hugs and kisses to you both and those two wiggly babies.
@ Happy birthday Adrianna, what a lovely poem from Trina.

OOPS, my poem for Adrianna is missing the last line:
She sure is on the right path!

@Terry Crow; Your redneck jokes are getting a little close to home! Do you actually know me? We had a “3 heifer wedding.” [Sold 3 heifers to pay for the entire thing. Including custom rings by a bit & spur maker.] The ceremony was on the ridge above our coastal field. I couldn’t find a fiddle player so we had the irrigation line going & the cows mooing right beside us. The catering was handled by the local bait store. True story. Are you sure we’ve never met?
Stu
Zen, of course their going to have your ornament – and lots of goodies. After all YOUR SO LOVED !!

You look fab, Miss Z.

@Jennifer Adelmann, re: Uncle Mo, that is standard procedure at most farms. They are being cautious. He is still coming down from being at the track. Also, intact males can be rather fussy about their personal space, especially around the head. He hasn’t been used for breeding yet, but sometimes that makes them more prickly, too. It doesn’t mean that he is a bad-tempered horse, just a normal one. And who knows, he may turn out to be quite friendly. As far as friendliness goes, comparing any horse to Zenyatta is a bit unfair. She has an extraordinary tolerance for being fussed over.

@Sue Fredrick – my folks grew up in Neenah, WI (I think the White House Christmas tree is from there this year). Although I never lived there (we moved to Illinos), I grew up loving the Badgers and the Pack. My dad passed away in February (age 96) and we believe he has been pulling some strings up there. This should be an exciting next couple of months for us.
@Joanna from TX – I LOVE “Something Magical”. That one should be a contender. With the Secretariat connection I came up with “BeSecZ” – got Bernie, Big Red, and Zenny all together.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@Adrianna–Happy Birthday!(And say “hi” to your mom for us.
@Sue Fredrick–I agree and thanks!
@AngelaFromAbilene–lol! Too cute.
@Kari Bussell_ No, I did not hear that about Pat. I was out of pocket all day. Thank you so much for telling me. I’m glad she won. One side note– when our girls practice before playing you all, it is always with “Rocky Top” blaring from the sound system. I have to confess to loving the song too!

Zenyatt What a Beautiful picture. YOU with the background is perfect. Have a really good day. Enjoy the sunshine! I love you sweet girl. Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO

Good morning everyone! Sweet Zenny — you look so MAJESTIC in that graceful pose….ahhh! The Elegance of Zenyatta.
I missed posting yesterday because life got in the way & my new dog, Daisy aka “Doodlebug” has been snacking on cat food when her mum’s back is turned — so many hasty trips outside were in order!!!!
I wanted to add that not only did we lose Kingston Rule this week but also Nijinsky’s son, Shahrastani, who won the Epsom & Irish Derbies — defeating the GREAT Dancing Brave in the former — the same year that another Nijinsky son, Ferdinand, won the Kentucky Derby. No stallion has ever duplicated that record — of 2 derby winners in the same year on two different continents!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADRIANNA. If you were in my class we would sing Happy Birthday to You. Then you would get to pick a prize out of the Birthday Bucket. My 5th Graders are saying Happy Birthday from East Liverpool, Ohio! :)

Hey everyone. I just wanted to give an update on my sister krystal, I had posted a few days ago that she had to have major surgery because the dr slipped and cut a main artery and she was rushed to st marys… First off Id like to thank everyone one of those who kept her in your thoughts and prayers!!! Its means so much to us! Krystal is doing so much better! She is still in a lot of pain, but is doing really well, she was able to come home late wednesday! She is still on quite a few meds, and has to wear an oxegon tube at night.. I dont remember if I mention this or not, but her biopsy came back as negative for lymphoma! But she has something called sarcoidosis! So now she has to be on steroids for a while, which spikes her sugars, and wiwth her being a diabetic as well, thats really not good! So please continue praying, she still has a long road ahead. and again THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!
<3 Tiffany

@Happy Birthday Adrianna and of course to all December birthday babies. What a fun time of year to have a birthday!!! Trina- your poem was top notch. I’m sure she will be thrilled to read it!
It was a very festive holiday video – Wow, that is quite a mall. Decorated so beautifully!
Sunny and chilly in Ca . Have a wonderful day everyone. Horse and man has a beautiful tribute to a rescued older horse named Oso. Will tug at heartstrings and a reach for the kleenex box, but so heartfelt.
Joanna from TX
I just want to offer a comment about Uncle Mo’s reported biting antics. Remember all, that he’s just been taken off the track and away from everything and probably everybody he knows for just a little over a month. He needs a transition period. And, he’s still a kid…will be 4 next month. Our lovely Z girl had a great ‘retraining’ period with Lanes Ends that every horse should envy…I read a wonderful article about it in Bloodhorse a while back. Give Mo some wind-down time before making any judgements.
Have a great weekend everyone. I’m hoping Weemissfrankie does well; she runs Saturday I believe.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the link to the Eclipse Awards. I saw a brief version of it somewhere right after the awards, but this was much more extensive, and it was great to see the post-award interviews. Hearing the poem again was . . well . . . sniff . . . a wonderful reminder of that great occasion and of this fantastic horse!

P.S. Ohio State WILL come back! :-)
