Good Morning,
Often while I’m out in the paddock relaxing with TASTY, I have a great deal of time to THINK! It suddenly occurred to ME yesterday that ONE YEAR has passed since I was at BARN 55—-stretching my legs and doing my ‘last lap under tack’ with Steve around the training track.
One year…..WOW! It seems like just yesterday!
It is truly amazing how quickly time flies by. I imagine that is why people always say it is so important to enjoy and appreciate each day. I am really trying to subscribe to this philosophy. Each day is so special….and TASTY and I treat them as such.
A mare is ‘in foal’ for approximately 11 calendar months. Look how quickly this time is progressing for ME. I am due at the beginning of March…so just a few more precious months to go! I am eating properly, getting the appropriate amount of exercise each day….and truly enjoying each moment. LANE’S END does monitor my weight carefully….and I am gaining the perfect amount of weight each month now for a MOM-TO-BE.
MY FOAL does like to ‘move about’ quite a bit. As I understand it, you can actually see my tummy ‘wiggle’ when the baby does so. This is TOO CUTE!
Wishing you a wonderful day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

WELCOME HOME TERRY CROW!! :-D
Robin
I was there! Three weeks after having major surgery, but I couldn’t miss saying goodbye. Sad, but wonderful event. I even posted about it on my blog yesterday! Wish I could see the wiggling tummy.

Hey Zenny,
I hope you’re having a great day. I can’t wait to see your babies pictures and Tasty’s babies pictures :) They are going to be very cute! <3 Will you and Tasty remain in the same paddock together with your foals until weened?

Zenyatta/Dottie – Oh, if we could have those days again when YOU were cementing YOUR place in history and we were privileged to watch. But I know you are enjoying the next phase of your life and we are all eagerly anticipating the birth of your foal. Fingers crossed for everyone who is without power that it will be restored soon.
Lauren
Dear Zenny and Dottie – It must be so exciting to watch your tummy as baby moves around. Hmmmm it looks like he or she will be a great runner like his mom or dad. I can’t wait to see the first pictures of the baby. It will be so exciting.
Brigid Matthews
Thank you for sharing the great Zenyatta, can’t tell you how much it means.
Linda
Hi Wiggles & Z – So happy your baby is active and you are thriving. Think of you every day and send hugs to you and all your connections.
Marcee
Wow a full year! I remember when my TB was in foal. It was wonderful to watch her tummy grow and move. I loved Jabez (my mare) a great deal before she had a foal, but after I went through her pregnancy I gained a deeper love that I didn’t think was possible. I can only imagine how those closest to Zenyatta feel. It’s kind of strange how I felt a very strong connection to Zenyatta the moment I saw her on TVG. Very few horses have provoked such an attraction to me through media. Other than the obvious, Zenyatta must have a very similar personality as my Jabez. I bought Jabez when she was 6, because of the look in her eye I viewed in pictures of her.
Anna
I can’t wait until that sweet baby arrives! I hope we get to see that little one “wiggle” down the racetrack!

Yes, it’s been a year since Fan Appreciation Day at Hollywood Park. I am so happy that I made the drive down to see you one last time while you were in California. I’ll bet you are going to be a terrific mom.
Margaret
Dottie I hope the power has been restored at your home. I’m glad you had a safe place to go to.
Yeah, yesterday was the one year anniversary that you left Hollypark to move to LE’s. WOW! This year has flown by so quickly.
LaurieK
Time does fly. Thanks for the memories that you continue to make for us. If any are interested, here are some photos I took at the Hollywood Park retirement ceremoney: http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd264/Venckman/ZenRetirement/

Dear Zenny, I am so happy to hear how well you and tasty are. I agree with one of those writing. Your foal will surely dance like his Mom. My grandchild is due at the end of March so I will have two blessed events to look forward to. Lord bless you Queen Z and all those you love.
Allie
Zenny, who are you trying to kid? That baby isn’t “wiggling”, it’s dancing!! It’s got the Zenny boogie goin’ on.. TOO CUTE!!

Yes hard to think it has been a year. And as I refelect back myself it was a wonderful time for myself and so many others. I love seeing and watching ever one of your races right from the start, what a thrill and a ride you gave to all of us. Meeting you and being able to pat you on the neck will forever stay with me, just knowing how soft your coat was was wonderful, and your kind sprit and the fact you dealt with all of us with such grace. I still miss seeing you and I’m sure I am not alone in that thought. But life moves us forward and myself and everyone else are looking to the new step in your life having that wonderful foal. And thanks out to Dottie and everyone for keeping you in our lifes, we would be so lost if we were never to be able to know how you are doing and so forth. Please have a great time in your new life even though we miss you so much. Hugs out to Tasty as well. Big hugs and kisses Zenny.

Zenny, how I wish I could touch that soft nose of yours and stare into those wonderous eyes. I am so glad your pregnancy is progressing nicely. By March all your internet aunties and uncles will be pacing the floor waiting for news.

Hi, Zenny,
–
Such a happy/sad day last year….so happy you retired sound and were going to be allowed to just be a horse, but sad because we wouldn’t see you anymore flying around the track. I posted several videos at your Facebook page of your appearance at Keeneland at this time last year. Freezing cold, and you were without your “winter coat”! I was worried about you when I saw these for the first time!

Still hoping your Facebook page can reach 100,000 fans by the time your baby comes…you are at 94,300+ now, so it is a very real possibility. You are still kicking up the dust of debate…there are several surveys about the past year…one is the “most intriguing” horse….last time I checked, you were #1! Here’s the link if anyone wants to vote: http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/25-most-intriguing/archive/2011/11/23/rank-the-25-most-intriguing-horses-of-2011.aspx

Your name is mentioned in almost every context that a horse achieves some measure of success…all want to be like you! Every trainer wants “their Zenyatta”. When they talk about how the Breeders Cup this year was down in all categories from last year, it is because because they missed your “star power” this year! So, Queen Z, you are still making headlines. I don’t foresee any time or year when you won’t, because your foal will be the most-watched foal ever, your half-sister will hit the track early next year, so your name will come up. What I like to remind people is that you and your “family” continue to use your star power to help equine and human causes. My favorite thing Dottie said about you was (and sometimes I mis-quote this, I’m sure…hope I get it right!): “Every time she crossed the finish line, she took all that is the positive about the sport with her!”

I AM SO HAPPY YOUR FOAL AND YOU ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. I BET THE WIGGLE IS THE BEST THING EVER. I KNOW YOU KNOW SOMETHING IS GOING ON IN THE TUMMY. BABY IS NEEDING MORE SPACE,IF HE HAS YOUR LONG LEGS, LOTS OF SPACE. FOALS ARE SO MUCH FUN. THE WORLD IS NEW TO THEM SO VERYTHING IS A BIG WOW TO THEM. I JUST KNOW ALL YOUR FANS ARE AS EXCITED AS YOUR FAMILY. I SO ENJOYED OUR FOALS. I RAISED ONLY TWO BUT THEY WERE SO DIFFERENT IN THEIR LEARNING. MY MORGAN COLT WAS AND STILL IS SO INTERESTED IN EVERYTHING. I HAVE HEARD THIS IS A SIGN OF SMART HORSES. I THINK IT IS TRUE. LOVE TO ALL..SHERRY

Zenny, you have managed to put huge smiles on our faces on a somewhat dreary day. You are always “tonic for the soul” and we thank you for that…and your Dottie who keeps giving us these daily diaries.
Ann Maree / Tennessee
P.S. The BloodHorse “25 Most Intriguing Horses of 2011” was not limited to actively racing horses, the key word being “intriguing”. Here is the top 10 as of today, Dec. 6, because if you go to the site, you have to vote to be able to see the Community Rankings: 1.Zenyatta, 2.Havre de Grace, 3.Frankel, 4.Goldikova, 5.Blind Luck, 6.Shackleford, 7.Animal Kingdom, 8.Uncle Mo, 9.Drosselmeyer, 10.Royal Delta.

I so love your diary entry today. Glad to hear you and baby are doing well. A suggestion/request (if I may be so bold) – I know we would all LOVE to see a video snippet of that baby wiggling around if anyone at Lane’s End has a camera handy (hint, hint)
I hope you and Tasty have a great day. We are expecting some snow here in Memphis tomorrow. Wonder if y’all will get some too. I’m guessing horses like to run around in the snow?…;-)

Aw, Zenny, your baby is eager to get out and start his or her racing career! Too cute! Can’t wait until March. My firstborn foal, Dash, was born March 17, actually just two weeks before YOUR birthday! I’m hoping your baby will be born on her birthday. (Dash’s mother is named Dottie.)
@Don, you can “report this item” to eBay as counterfeit and they likely will pull it off the site and warn the seller.

Zenyatta,
It’s just thrilling to hear about the progression of your pregnancy. How time flies. Yes, your foal is getting a early start on his/her dancing. :-) Thanks Lane’s End for taking such good care of Z and TT. Keep warm and cozy Big Mama..
LaurieK
@Jag – That is awesome! I love it! It was a great, if bittersweet day. It was therefore an awesome thing to look at the cover of the Thoroughbred Times for that week, and my sister and me smack in the middle of the picture, watching The Queen go by! XD I never did manage to meet Zenyatta in person at Barn 55, but I sure ended up getting my picture taken with her!
Eveline / Maryland.
@ Robin – great writing! Hope you’re still doing well. @ LaurieK. -wonderful pictures, love the captions. @ TerryC. -welcome back. @ All december birthdays – HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

One year ago you were getting ready to come to Keeneland and see me!! 15 degrees, but it ws a thrill of a lifetime to see you. You turned and stopped when my sister said “hi pretty girl”…
D Stuart
@Zenyatta: Those of us who have been human mothers remember well that “wiggling”! Sometimes it tickled. Sometimes it was annoying. But it was always facinating! It’s when you KNOW there is SOMEONE IN THERE! WOW! Too Cute!
