Good Morning,
Often while I’m out in the paddock relaxing with TASTY, I have a great deal of time to THINK! It suddenly occurred to ME yesterday that ONE YEAR has passed since I was at BARN 55—-stretching my legs and doing my ‘last lap under tack’ with Steve around the training track.
One year…..WOW! It seems like just yesterday!
It is truly amazing how quickly time flies by. I imagine that is why people always say it is so important to enjoy and appreciate each day. I am really trying to subscribe to this philosophy. Each day is so special….and TASTY and I treat them as such.
A mare is ‘in foal’ for approximately 11 calendar months. Look how quickly this time is progressing for ME. I am due at the beginning of March…so just a few more precious months to go! I am eating properly, getting the appropriate amount of exercise each day….and truly enjoying each moment. LANE’S END does monitor my weight carefully….and I am gaining the perfect amount of weight each month now for a MOM-TO-BE.
MY FOAL does like to ‘move about’ quite a bit. As I understand it, you can actually see my tummy ‘wiggle’ when the baby does so. This is TOO CUTE!
Wishing you a wonderful day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

That is too cute your tummy wiggles when the baby moves. Hope you’re comfortable. I know you’re happy and well loved. :)

Hi Z family! Not sure if anyone is following my class this year, but Mistletoe put up a new post for the children. Mistletoe sent us a gift and is paying for the class DQ party on December 19. We feel so lucky. High Hoof to Madame Mistletoe and her giving owners, Shari

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAWN CONRAD! I hope that the coming year will be a very lucky one for you, and that you will come to BC 2012 at Santa Anita!
@Trina Nagele: Awesome!
Some late responses to Diary 390:
@Jeanie: “Her career was like a bright star that shot across the horizon with such brilliance that it remains today.” The beauty of your imagery leaves me breathless! I am embarrassed to say, that even though I have been attending Santa Anita since age 5, I have never noticed the inscription on the base of Seabiscuit’s statue. If he knew, he might come back to haunt me! More perfect words could not describe Zenyatta, as well:
“He had intelligence and understanding almost spiritual in quality.” Thank you for your lovely post.
@The Kennedys in San Diego: I think that we who were there to witness Zenyatta’s last dance will always share a very special bond. If the homestretch at Hollywood Park is ever excavated, there will be universal amazement at how many human hearts are buried there.
@Deirene in Carlsbad: I share you bittersweet memory of that day. Thank you for sharing. You are so fortunate to live in Carlsbad. The walks I took along the oceanfront this past year have brought me serenity and comfort.
@Karen Gogue: I am grateful for your post, reminding us that Zenyatta’s team demonstrated with extraordinary grace one of the most difficult demands of love—recognizing and accepting when it is time to let go.
@Kari: We are proof-positive that opposites sometimes do attract! 12th Heart.

@Barbara Grimaldi, I think those would be great choices, too. Unfortunately, Galileo is probably out, as he is located in Ireland. I don’t think the Mosses would ship her overseas just to be bred. Would love to see Md’O.

@Molly, neither Arch nor Blame will do for the Queen. Arch is a son of Kris S, and Blame is his grandson. Zenyatta is the granddaughter of Kris S. So a Blame/Zenyatta foal would be 3X3 Kris S, and an Arch/Zenyatta foal would be 2X3 Kris S. Most breeders would consider those to be too close. It’s a shame, because Blame IMO would otherwise match her well. Plus, he is a sweetheart, and I like the idea of breeding two well-tempered horses. As for Dynaformer, pedigree-wise it is not a bad match. However, he is a big horse, and a Zenyatta/Dynaformer baby could be enormous. He is also notorious for his foul temperament.

@Shari V, awwwww…..how sweet of Madame Mistletoe!

Dearest Zenyatta,
Enjoy these last months of your pregnancy, dear girl, as this is the time that the baby is yours and yours alone.
Hope you and Tasty are staying warm and happy!

Oh Zenny, soooo good to hear how well you’re doing. How exciting to learn that baby Z is so active, that would be so fun to see your belly move with baby Z activity!

Beautiful Zenyatta and Dottie, the Z Team, the LE Team, the Mosses, and all who care for our beautiful Queen. That would be You Z. I am so very grateful that on this day I could come here and remember you and find out that that Little Z is wiggling around. Too Cute!
@Dawn: Happy Birthday. I hope it was a truly wonderful day for you.
@ Kari: Thank you for getting us the wonderful links. I save all the Z links to favorites so I can see them again and again.
@ Trina: Another fine poem. We enjoy seeing those and getting to know the person you are celebrating a little better.
@ Terry Crow: I love it that you’re back. I have missed you!!
@ All: I just want to thank you from the tips of my toes to the top of my head for helping Marlene Dodge rescue the herd of horses. It took our community of EANDO, Z Dumplings, Z-sters, and Z fans to rescue all the pretty new friends. Drum roll and Celebrations to you that could help and did. Z hugs all around!! I was able to post the pictures of Little Cloud’s mom and a group of the other horses rescued. You can also see Spirit and Hana, who were adopted by the Beard family. Where can you see them? On Zenyatta’s face book page! (and on the EANDO’s Hooray page–and on my face book page, and I’m sure they are getting famous… :)) All the horses EANDO is able to help with I think of as Z’s cousins. I think it is something Zenyatta with her huge, giving, loving heart would want us to do.

DJ! I just saw your post! I have missed you and want you to know that you made me smile to just see your initials. Z hugs to you.

Zenyatta, you are right on the money when you say that time really flies by. You said that even though it has been a year since you moved from barn 55 in California to Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky, it felt like yeaterday since the move. I know that feeling quite well. I’m happy that your pregnancy is coming along well and that they are keeping a close eye on you, seeing that you are eating right and resting properly. I’ll bet you enjoyed Jerry and Ann Moss’ visit to you as much as they did.
Paul
I apologize for misspelling yesterday.
