Good Morning,
I hope all of you had a relaxing and pleasant weekend. My days have been absolutely fabulous. On Saturday, I had some SURPRISE visitors stop by and visit ME! My dear owners were able to spend the entire afternoon with ME. It was so much fun. The weather here has been so comfortable…surprisingly warm for early December! We will get some photos for you…’of our Saturday visit’… soon.
Racing has been moving right along! It is a ‘new era’ at Gulfstream Park as it opened on December 3rd instead of their normal starting date a month later. This is a new philosophy for this racetrack and we are wishing them well! Hollywood Park, Aqueduct, The Fairgrounds and several other venues offered very competitive racing as well. Between racing and getting ready for the holidays, we are all very, very busy!
As for Santa Anita and the wind damage, things are improving but as of this morning, several surrounding areas STILL do not have power. As of late last night, the power at MY JOHN and Dottie’s house was not yet restored. All of the local restaurants and businesses have been through some rough times. Hopefully things will get ‘back into a normal routine’ soon.
The webpage…ARCADIA’S BEST….will give you the current information on all of this. Per their sources, at one point the winds were close to 100 miles per hour. This site presents a 4 minute tour of the LOS ANGELES COUNTY ARBORETUM and their damage resulting from the storm. This area is directly across the street from Santa Anita….thus, we are extremely fortunate no people or horses were hurt. MY JOHN and DOTTIE live in the area directly behind the Arboretum…so this gives you an idea of how intense this wind storm actually was at their house.
Without power in Arcadia, they have spent time in Carlsbad with family during the last few days. MY JOHN is TOO CUTE and commutes to Hollywood Park etc. from Carlsbad during this time for work and to be with his horses. Last night, they went to a local restaurant in the Del Mar area, and a lovely woman was asking them about ME! (This is so sweet!) They had a lovely visit and Dottie updated her on how I’m doing. She also asked when my PLUSHIE was coming out! (Such a sweet fan!) Dottie told her in a few weeks…but to be sure and check on the web-site and visit the ZENYATTA SHOP often as new things are coming out all the time. How adorable is this! PEOPLE ASKING ABOUT ME!
Warm wishes from ME to YOU…my DEAR FANS!
With love,
Hugs to ALL~

today I was thinking that one year ago I watched from the stands at HP as Zenyatta walked slowly toward the barn area, and how tears started down my cheeks hearing Bob Hope singing “thanks for the memories” — I think I must have bought one of every thing for sale that had Zenyatta’s name on it that day, trying to capture some tiny bit of the magic that receded slowly toward Barn 55. If only. . . But Zenny, it’s magic to know how well loved and taken care of you are and how Dottie has held us together via your diary. have a peaceful evening

@Kim S–agreed about Marlene. I have a picture of the paint gelding, but I’m too dumb to know how to post it on FB. I can post the writing but not the picture.
@Happy Harriet–you are so right–darkness, indeed.
@Jan S. in Houston–thank you!
Good night all, and adorable Z.–love you always. So glad you escaped the big storm in California.

Queen Z….what a wonderful surprise to visit with Ann and Jerry. My idea for a book would be the journey from the time the Moss’s purchased Zenny to her retirement and her first foal. A picture of a beloved horse and her owners! It brings tears to my eyes to just think about all the beautiful photos of Queen Z we could treasure.

Just like a bad penny–I’m back. Scratch the above comment about the paint. He is on the http://www.equi-army-ndo.com site under action needed.

Dottie, thank you so much for spending time to keep us in your loop! Prayers for you and John and everyone in CA that had damage and loss of power.
Zenny, Blessings and prayers BEAUTIFUL Momma for YOU and YOUR Baby Z!
@ Dawn – HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY! You’re such a blessing to us all.
@ Everyone in Zenny’s Family – Love You all – Thanks for the wonderful posts. Will have to read them all tomorrow and catch up with everything and everyone.
We’ve been in a storm here in NM and more on the way, but at least we are getting much-needed snow (any moisture will do).
Thank you DMCO for the awesome blessing.
More to say, but internest is so-o slow. Couldn’t get on past few days. Blessings to Everyone!
PS So glad all of the horses were rescued by that AMAZING Marlene!
Thanks Barbara G and everyone helping to get them to a good place!

@The Kennedy’s
Have been out of pocket today. Thanks for posting the link on
Royal Delta. So very glad that she is back with Bill Mott and politics did not prevail. Wow Dubai World Cup !!! Has a filly ever won this race ????
Lynn from nearby Hollywood Park
Z, I’m only an hour from Santa Anita park, (in Thousand Oaks). I had prepared for the massive winds, but was suprised in that there was no wind at my home!.
I’m so relieved when Dottie advised all, that no one was harmed and all the horses were okay. It was as if a sweeping tornado hit one area only.
…
I’m so happy to hear Ann & Jerry came up for a visit. What a treasure you all are.
Love you so much Zenny.

@Signofthetimes- Royal Delta would be the first filly to win the Dubai World Cup. Go Royal Delta GO!

Love the video you posted on Authentic and Beezie; ” it is all about the horse, the rider guides them” (Carl Hester, Grand Prix, Olympic
dressage rider, GB); he is 16 yo and knows his job with or without his rider. TOO CUTE!!!! Glad she was OK.

Dear Zenny,
So glad you had a wonderful full weekend with your owners; The Mosses; maybe they are trying to get ideas for names for your baby. Of course and spoil you with lots of treats and love. Hope Tasty had a good time too. Sorry to hear about Dottie and John’s no power situation. That is sure not a good one to be in. Glad they have somewhere to stay and John is able to keep up his regular training; “E” is continuing her training, can’t wait for her debut; I bet Mr. Kronfeld will be there, all excited. Hope your monday was a relaxing and pampering day. XXXXXOOOO

@Dawn Conrad, Happy Birthday!
Zenny, how wonderful your great owners saw you for a bit over the weekend. I echo the sentiments expressed by another here that I believe Zen will eventually return “home” to CA after having a few foals. Her Ann wanted her to stay there if I recall from the ESPN article but knew Ky was the best choice for her to be bred. Heck, if she was mine she’d be in the house with me!

@Cynthia Holt- You know that your beautiful words made me cry. I thank God a million times a day I have you for a friend. I am so blessed to have been privy to your gift of words in describing All that is Zenyatta for three years. Thank you!

Hi Zenny, so glad that your owners were able to spend the afternoon with you. that must have been a great surprise for you. I’m so happy for all that you were able to spend some time together. I know that there is soo much love involved in your realationship. Sorry to hear John and Dottie are still having problems getting their electricity back. The storm with all that wind did hit their area badly. Hopeing they will be back to normal soon. Love to all.

@Signotimes – I read where they said she (Royal Delta) might run at Gulf Stream first.

What sweetness, thank you…I was not the only person feeling heartbroken that day…if Z fans felt such, can you imagine how her Ann and Jerry, her John and the whole Barn 55 must have felt? They had to let her go… time to move on even though their hearts were breaking.
Deborah Richman from So. Cal.
Z, how fun that you got to see your dear Ann and Jerry! Can’t wait to see the pictures of your afternoon together.
I have been thinking of your dear Dottie, John, and Sophie. I hope power is restored to their home and repairs are completed soon so John doesn’t have to make that long commute much longer. I wish them all the best.
@All…hope you are all doing well. Love and peace be with you.

@Brenda S and All: Oh so funny to think about being “snowed in”! The Phoenix metro area gets a few flakes and flurries almost every year, especially in the higher elevations of Scottsdale, Mesa, Rio Verde, etc. I got a few teensy flakes on my windshield this morning. The mountains that circle Phoenix get snow that sticks, and of course the “real” mountains near Flagstaff and Payson get “real” snow that stays the winter. Zenny, humans attach boards to their feet and slide on this stuff! Can you imagine? TOO CUTE!

@Sis Dawn, I hope you have the most wonderful birthday. It’s the 7th is that right. I was 58 this year but I don’t feel like it. Hope you feel a young 55. Have a wonderful time on that day.
To all Wemissfrankie fans she is racing on this Saturday the loth. I consider it a nice early Christmas Present to get to see her. Just Love Her. Have a safe trip my girl.
Love ya Zenny.

Gosh, have to find out what time she is racing.

Beautiful thoughts on the 1st anniversary of your Fan Appreciation Day. Some of us must have been standing close to each other. I watched you too until I could see you no longer and broke down and cried. Really emotional. ( My dear friend who was there with me) thought I really was a bit “too emotional” but you were leaving California and it was such a thrill to come and watch you race. So glad your wonderful life journey remains so positive and happy. It is chilly tonight in Carlsbad and I’m sure you are warm and toasty in your barn and stall. Do you have a barn pussycat friend at LE? I adopted another rescue cat this last Friday. She is doing very well and I love her so. Very petite and funny. Still letting her wait and tell me what works for a name….
Happy Birthday Dawn – Many more to celebrate in the Zen world.

@Barbara Grimaldi – Thank you on your thoughts about Zenyatta being retired to California after she has had 3 foals. As nice as Lanes End is, I think Zenyatta would be thrilled to return to her home while she is still “young”. I sure hope that you are right.
Linda from Chicago
Glad to hear the paint is safe too. We can sleep tonight. Can’t wait to see pictures of the newest rescue – MARLENE FOR PRESIDENT!!!!
