Good Morning,
I hope all of you had a relaxing and pleasant weekend. My days have been absolutely fabulous. On Saturday, I had some SURPRISE visitors stop by and visit ME! My dear owners were able to spend the entire afternoon with ME. It was so much fun. The weather here has been so comfortable…surprisingly warm for early December! We will get some photos for you…’of our Saturday visit’… soon.
Racing has been moving right along! It is a ‘new era’ at Gulfstream Park as it opened on December 3rd instead of their normal starting date a month later. This is a new philosophy for this racetrack and we are wishing them well! Hollywood Park, Aqueduct, The Fairgrounds and several other venues offered very competitive racing as well. Between racing and getting ready for the holidays, we are all very, very busy!
As for Santa Anita and the wind damage, things are improving but as of this morning, several surrounding areas STILL do not have power. As of late last night, the power at MY JOHN and Dottie’s house was not yet restored. All of the local restaurants and businesses have been through some rough times. Hopefully things will get ‘back into a normal routine’ soon.
The webpage…ARCADIA’S BEST….will give you the current information on all of this. Per their sources, at one point the winds were close to 100 miles per hour. This site presents a 4 minute tour of the LOS ANGELES COUNTY ARBORETUM and their damage resulting from the storm. This area is directly across the street from Santa Anita….thus, we are extremely fortunate no people or horses were hurt. MY JOHN and DOTTIE live in the area directly behind the Arboretum…so this gives you an idea of how intense this wind storm actually was at their house.
Without power in Arcadia, they have spent time in Carlsbad with family during the last few days. MY JOHN is TOO CUTE and commutes to Hollywood Park etc. from Carlsbad during this time for work and to be with his horses. Last night, they went to a local restaurant in the Del Mar area, and a lovely woman was asking them about ME! (This is so sweet!) They had a lovely visit and Dottie updated her on how I’m doing. She also asked when my PLUSHIE was coming out! (Such a sweet fan!) Dottie told her in a few weeks…but to be sure and check on the web-site and visit the ZENYATTA SHOP often as new things are coming out all the time. How adorable is this! PEOPLE ASKING ABOUT ME!
Warm wishes from ME to YOU…my DEAR FANS!
With love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z

Zenny, how wonderful to have your loving owners visit you. I’ll bet they gave you good (healthy) treats and many hugs and kisses on your soft nose. Can’t wait to see pictures. Meanwhile, hope that the power is restored for those without it very soon. Take care everyone.
Margaret
Dottie at least you and John have shelter and food. And you know that you’ll be able to go home…eventually. It sounds like you had some minor damage–trees going over without causing damage is what I call minor. Yes, it’s a pain to have to deal with but far better for the inconvenience than something far worse.
Up in Northern CA I have friends whose fence in the backyard went down. So we had heavy winds too. Not sure how they compared…but they are all fine.
And Z how absolutely fun for you and mom and dad Moss to be able to visit! I bet mom and dad were so thrilled to see you and that tummy getting ever closer to the BIG day!
Take care Team Z. We are so glad that no one was hurt.

The one and only Miss Z, love the updates. Waiting to see that baby of yours:)

So HAPPY! to hear about your visitors. I would think it helps you feel connected to your racing roots. Love you Z! have a fabulous week!

Sorry for the power outages, we had a heavy snow storm awhile back and my daughter and her husband we without power for 5 days.
Glad that you’re having warm weather in KY, its cold right now in Northern CO — 7 degrees, but the wind is blowing so I don’t know exactly what the temp is with the wind chill — probably around -10 degrees. Horses were all OK this am, will have to keep hay in front of them all day and late in the night.

Good Morning Zenny, Lucky Girl. Spending time with your family. The holidays SHOULD BE about the celebration of family & friends. Glad to hear YOUR JOHN, DOTTIE, SOPHIE & the horses are all safe & sound. Storm situations like that can be a terrifying experience. I have experienced the power outage misery a few times myself & I promise you it is NOFUN! It does provide plenty of time to reflect on how our lives revolve around the many modern conveniences we fail to appreciate & take for granted, even the darned vacuum cleaner! Bless you Mr. Tom Edison.
MAY ALL BE WARM & SAFE
PEACE & LOVE

Dearest Zenyatta,
How wonderful that you got to visit with your family this past weekend. I’m sure they loved every moment of being with you.
The wind storm must have been extremely wicked. So glad that Your John and Dottie came out of it safely. Having gone through a hurricane, I know how scary high winds can be. And when the power is gone—everything is pretty much on the blink. I pray that all those folks in the L.A area will get to return to their normal routines soon.
Have a warm, safe and happy Monday, dear Z!
Love and hugs to you and Tasty,
Stel

Good morning, Big Mama Z! Hey, I just wanted to say it was a year ago today I got to meet you at Hollywood Park at Zenyatta Appreciation Day. Wow, what a day. Some great memories were made that day. A great big thank you and a bunch of hugs to all of your awesome connections who allowed that to happen! Oooh, I can’t wait to buy a Zenyatta PLUSHIE. Whoo hoo! Thanks for the Arcadia’s Best link. I will check it out after I’m done posting this. Also, I have the Arcadia Police Department on Facebook and they are updating street closures and other important info about twice a day. Here is the link for anyone who can use it. It has given some good information: https://www.facebook.com/#!/ArcadiaPD
Hope I’m not posting this too often, but I want to remind you Zenyatta fans to vote for Zenyatta for Most Intriguing Horse of 2011. She’s gone from #4 to #1! Keep up the great work! Oh Zenyatta, of course the nice lady was asking about you – she’s one of your multitude of fans! I framed my Jaime Corum poster over the weekend and received my Zenyatta street sign so now I have to figure out where exactly to put them so everyone can see them just right. I’m glad your mom and dad visited you over the weekend – they’re going to be grandparents in a few months! Love you, pretty girl.
Lauren
Dear Zenny – Poor Dottie and John – I hope they get their power back soon. A lot of my friends here in New Jersey were without power because of storms we had a few months ago. I can’t wait to see the new pictures — and I hope you are feeling well. In just a few short months you will be a mommy. Hmmmm, are you thinking boy or girl????
Trisha
Dear precious Zenyatta, we all ask about you all the time. You are that special. The best to John and Dottie. I know how it is, we recently recovered from Irene!!
It is not fun.
Love hugs and kisses to you and all of your family

Dottie very glad you, John and Barn 55 are o.k. It is tough to be without power. I saw the damage and it is extensive. The winds were at hurricane strength I believe. So glad Jerry and Ann got a chance to see her again. Looking forward to the pictures of their visit. Dottie, people will be asking about The Queen for a very long time. I think she is the most beloved horse of all time. Her fan base is huge.

Zenyatta, yes it is always fun to spend time with your family, especially during the holidays. Have been pondering as to if you will have a colt or filly. Loved the explanation of one of your fans that if you had a girl in March that the colors of the aquamarine and pink…well you know who has those colors…Say “hello” to Tasty for me. Glad you have such a good friend. Miss ya. Love Ya…and can’t wait to see you some day.

How fun that we are both special that we are so close to the same time of year. You just hit 66 and I am at 55. Dear Great One
I am so glad you are having a lovely day, far away from all the wind blowing around here in CA. I feel bad for YOUR JOHN and DOTTIE. Wish I could do something to help them after all they have done for US!
I have been thinking and I believe March 3 would be an excellent day for you to give birth to your first-born. And I have a great name picked out! How about Z-B JEANIE? Kind of rhymes. Then we could always celebrate together?
I also want to let YOU all our Z’ISTERS know that the PAINT GELDING is safe thanks to our efforts and the efforts of EquiArmy. The pregnant mares and little TB-cross will be at Valley View by tonight and the Paint gelding will come home Wednesday. Our friend Marlene is going to send photos. She’s thinking Little Cloud might be a roan, so won’t that be a perfect color for a “cloud”?
When you get a chance, can you find out how PQ and Zazu are doing? I’ve been wondering. Thank you dear.
Your humble J

Hey Z! Praying for John and Dottie’s power to be restored! Will your plushie be out in time for Christmas? I’d love to have one!
Germaine
Wanted to “talk” with Cigar this afternoon, but he must be staying nice and warm and dry in his stall. Can’t wait to see another photograph of you, Zenyatta. Sending lots of love your way.
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
@Jeanie, it depends on what color little Cloud turns out to be. Although I guess if s/he’s a red roan, s/he could be a dust cloud. :-)

Hi Z! I am so happy that Jerry and Ann got to spend so much time with you-that is absolutely special! Our power was out for 4 hours here in Fresno. Some residents had power out for days. Our neighbor’s tree, a beautiful willow, went down. The country club near our house lost 64 big trees. Trees were down everywhere, lots of accidents and power outages everywhere. The winds here were clocked at 80 miles per hr. And, my gosh, the pool looked like a huge swamp. Compared to others, we did fine. Dozey, our horse, was safe and sound in her stall in the barn and all the dogs stayed inside the house. It was scarey! I hear it is raining in Kentucky so stay warm sweet girl! xxoo!

Hello Zeny! Glad to hear Dottie and John are safe and comfortable in Carlsbad. Hope we do not have any more disasters for the rest of the year. It is a beautiful time of the year to reflect on all our blessings despite setbacks.
Take good care of yourself. Hugs to you and Tasty.
Please ask Dottie how LIFE IS SWEET is doing?
Thanks, Marilu
