Good Morning,
I hope all of you had a relaxing and pleasant weekend. My days have been absolutely fabulous. On Saturday, I had some SURPRISE visitors stop by and visit ME! My dear owners were able to spend the entire afternoon with ME. It was so much fun. The weather here has been so comfortable…surprisingly warm for early December! We will get some photos for you…’of our Saturday visit’… soon.
Racing has been moving right along! It is a ‘new era’ at Gulfstream Park as it opened on December 3rd instead of their normal starting date a month later. This is a new philosophy for this racetrack and we are wishing them well! Hollywood Park, Aqueduct, The Fairgrounds and several other venues offered very competitive racing as well. Between racing and getting ready for the holidays, we are all very, very busy!
As for Santa Anita and the wind damage, things are improving but as of this morning, several surrounding areas STILL do not have power. As of late last night, the power at MY JOHN and Dottie’s house was not yet restored. All of the local restaurants and businesses have been through some rough times. Hopefully things will get ‘back into a normal routine’ soon.
The webpage…ARCADIA’S BEST….will give you the current information on all of this. Per their sources, at one point the winds were close to 100 miles per hour. This site presents a 4 minute tour of the LOS ANGELES COUNTY ARBORETUM and their damage resulting from the storm. This area is directly across the street from Santa Anita….thus, we are extremely fortunate no people or horses were hurt. MY JOHN and DOTTIE live in the area directly behind the Arboretum…so this gives you an idea of how intense this wind storm actually was at their house.
Without power in Arcadia, they have spent time in Carlsbad with family during the last few days. MY JOHN is TOO CUTE and commutes to Hollywood Park etc. from Carlsbad during this time for work and to be with his horses. Last night, they went to a local restaurant in the Del Mar area, and a lovely woman was asking them about ME! (This is so sweet!) They had a lovely visit and Dottie updated her on how I’m doing. She also asked when my PLUSHIE was coming out! (Such a sweet fan!) Dottie told her in a few weeks…but to be sure and check on the web-site and visit the ZENYATTA SHOP often as new things are coming out all the time. How adorable is this! PEOPLE ASKING ABOUT ME!
Warm wishes from ME to YOU…my DEAR FANS!
With love,
Hugs to ALL~

still can’t believe I’m the first post of the day!! this retirement thing is great!! huh, Zenny?!! I hope things in general are continuing to improve, little by little, for the Arcadia area. And glad to hear that John, Dottie and horses are safe.
one more plug for Marlene and her efforts – by noon today – to get enough money to save the Paint!! I don’t have the link to add here, but it’s in #389.

Zenyatta so glad you got to see you Ann and Jerry. I know how much they love and miss you, just like all your fans. Dottie, I hope everything gets back to normal soon for you and John. Love and Hugs to all…

Hate all the damage in Arcadia, but so thankful no horses/people were hurt.
Of course people would ask about you, Z. My friends know I’m such a big fan and tease me every now and then by asking me when your due date is. Because they know I know it. You are mentioned by tv announcers in just about any big race/pre-race talk. Matter of fact, my sweetie was explaining to me about “bridge jumpers” and “Z bets” last night. He used you as an example during the explanation.
Yep, we all still talk about you – because we LOVE you!
Liz
Wow, that really sounds like a severe windstorm! I’m glad all the people and horses at the racetrack are alright. How is your weather in Kentucky, Zenny? Any snow yet? We here in Wyoming already have had several snowstorms and temps below zero during the night are growing ever more regular!

Good Morning Precious Zenny

I AM SO GLAD THAT ANN AND JERRY MOSS WERE VISITING. IT MUST BE HARD TO BE AWAY FROM A HORSE YOU LOVE SO VERY MUCH. THE THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT A WIFE LOVES TO HEAR IS NOT I LOVE YOU, BUT LETS EAT OUT. IF YOUR POWER IS OUT, THIS CAN BE A GOOD THING FOR A FEW HOURS ONLY. WE STILL LIKE HOME THE BEST. LOVE SHERRY.

Dear Zenny:
Thanks so much for the update. So sorry for Dottie’s and Your John’s inconvenience but so grateful that they are fine (Sophie too of course) and the horses are all right.
Such fun for you to see your owners and it’s great that pictures are coming.
Hugs & nose kisses to you and Tasty.

Good Morning Queen Z. So sorry to hear that John and Dottie still don’t have power. Speaking of Carlsbad, I took my youngest grandson (9) to Legoland this past June and we drove through Del Mar on our way to San Diego. Made a special point of seeing Del Mar but could not go in because of the Fair that was going on at the time. It is a beautiful track from what I could see of it from the road. Right across fron the ocean. So neat!
So glad your owners came to visit you. Know that meant a lot to you. Can’t wait to see your pictures.
Hope you have a wonderful day out with TASTY your BFF. Love you soo much big girl. Lou

How wonderful you got to see Jerry and Ann!! I know they must miss you terribly, but how fortunate that they CAN come see you. I’m sure you were able to give them lots of love and attention and grieve with them as well about sweet Cloud Man.
I hope John and Dottie get their power on. As I’m sitting here in Anaheim looking out the window, I see an Edison truck checking lines, and I see the wind really blowing. Hopefully, it will stay south of the San Gabriel valley this time!
Love to you and all of team Z and wishing you were going to be at SA on the 26th & 29th, because I am, and you, dear Queen, ARE my favorite photography subject <3

LUCKY YOU ZENNY – A nice long visit with your owners, I’ll just bet that they brought treats for you, some nice juicy pears and fresh carrots. What a nice surprise for you. Sad news that YOUR JOHN and Dottie still do not have power but they seem to be coping very well, Dottie has found time to update your diary for you and us. We miss you so much when we don’t hear from you.
@ Kari B & Judy B – You were in my thoughts last night as I watched the Andrea Bocelli concert in Central Park on PBS. His final encore was Nessum Dorma and so I hoped you were watching. He’s such a handsome man and sings like an angel, I could watch him all night. I’ve requested the CD from Santa Claus.
Heidi
We all love you Z – and only want the best for you… As a child I started growing up with ponies and then horses and I can tell you they know when they are loved!

Dottie, it is so great to have you back, but I am sorry that your power has not yet been restored. That is some commute for your dear John from Carlsbad (do you hear that, Deirene?) to Hollywood Park—wow! I hope that your situation will improve very soon. Clean-up around the Arcadia area is going on practically around the clock, and Edison has promised that service will be restored to those remaining homes still without power by 8:00 tonight. Fingers and toes are crossed!
Zenyatta, you must have been super-excited to have enjoyed a surprise visit from your beloved owners. What a fantastic afternoon! We look forward to some pictures (and it sounds as if your weather is certainly better than ours).

Happy Birthday, Dawn Conrad! I hope that your day is so wonderful, that it will defy even your awesome powers of description!

Just a quick question. What are those “socks” that are on your rear legs, from the ankle to the knee it seems. I was looking at the print and thinking of asking my sister if she would get it for Christmas!
Linda Shull

Cannot wait for the pictures.
Could you do me a favor and whisper in your connections ears.
To ban together to stop what looks like is going to start up in the United States again soon.We have got to do something to save the horses.
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
@Heidi, they are wraps. Pretty much all horses wear hind leg wraps when they are racing. The wraps protect the skin from the dirt, sand, and other debris that are kicked up by the front legs and by other horses. John Shirreff’s stable colors are blue and white, which is why she has the little blue stripes at the tops of her wraps. They remind me of gym socks. Horses sometimes wear front wraps for therapeutic or preventive purposes. Front wraps have to be noted in the racing program. Back wraps are standard equipment and do not have to be noted.

Good Morning, Sunshine!! :-)
I’m sorry YOUR JOHN has been so inconvenienced ~ that is some “commute”! That’s proof, AGAIN, how dedicated he is to his horses. The winds will be with us for a while (according to Mother Nature)! :-(
