NEWS ALERT! HEAVY WINDS HIT THE ARCADIA AREA LAST NIGHT! MY JOHN WILL TRY AND GET SOME PHOTOS FOR YOU SOON!
Hello Everyone,
So, so sorry to be posting you this late in the day. MY JOHN and DOTTIE (Sophie too) live in Arcadia, California…right by Santa Anita. Last night, that area had a HUGE wind storm. The winds were the hardest and traveling the fastest any of them can remember. The power is completely out in ALL of Arcadia, the phone / internet lines are not working, and trees are down everywhere. Schools are closed, businesses are also closed…and people are traveling about very carefully due to all of the trees and power lines that are down and blocking the roads.
On Huntington Drive, right by the racetrack, there are cars covered with fallen trees. None of the street signals anywhere in town are working. As for Dottie and MY JOHN, 2 large trees from their neighbors yard fell…and are now in their yard. Thus, the fence is destroyed in 2 places as well. Patio furniture moved around the yard and 2 chairs went into the pool from one of the decks. It is truly amazing to see how these winds could literally MOVE this heavy furniture and force all of these trees to fall.
Dottie went over to Santa Anita late this morning and some of the huge trees by the one escalator are completely down. Smaller trees in the plant are also on the ground. It seems like the backside held up fairly well. At this time, 2:15 CA TIME in the afternoon, all reports on the horses are great. They came through it all like CHAMPS! So, there is much to be very, very thankful for!
From all reports, there is to be more of these high winds later today and tomorrow morning. By noon Friday, the intensity in them is to be rather small….much more like a normal breeze that would happen now and then.
Let’s hope our weather reports are accurate and everyone continues to be SAFE throughout this windstorm.
We will keep you posted. Here’s hoping the power, telephone, and internet services are restored as soon as possible to the ARCADIA AREA.
MY, MY…something ‘FUN” is always happening.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@JAG – Thanks for the reminder. Love looking in on Cigar from time to time. Visited with him this September while in Lexington and couldn’t get over how he has stayed in such good shape. He looked so proud when they introduced him in the arena at The Hall of Champions.

Holy Toledo! That’s quite a report. I’m from that area and I send much light and love for a speedy recovery.

I’m in Northern California, in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and we haven’t had power since Wednesday. Many trees are down and the roads are a mess, but crews are out and working on the problems. My horses have been nervous and spooky the last couple of days, so no doubt they’ll all be laying down in the warm sunshine for long naps in their paddocks this afternoon. Glad to hear everyone at the track is doing fine.

Beautiful Zenyatta and Dottie, I see that my last post is gone, so I’ll try again. Dottie, thank you so much from rescueing me from an anxiety attack! I know that weather and wind can take time and effort and that’s why I am especially grateful that you let us know that you and Z’s John are OK and that Barn 55 is OK. I hope that is still true!
@ all the CA Z-sters, Dumplings, and fans I thank you all for reporting in too. Those of us who can’t get specific news about far away places like CA, worry about you. The news was reporting fierce, high winds in CA. Nothing specific. Again, thank you and I hope you all stay safe. In AL we know about the clean up after wind and tornado damage. So, I’ll pray that you stay safe and through all the clean up know that you are loved.
@ Kari and all who need a blessing, well make that all, here’s a blessing from me to each of you: http://www.beblessedmovie.com/store

Dear Zenny, I just visited Cigar and he’s got his blankie on so it must be chilly in Lexington. I know Matt will make sure that you are nice and warm when you go out. I have been thinking of YOUR JOHN, Dottie and Sophie this morning, as well as the horses. The weather person here said that the Santa Ana winds would continue thru the morning and calm down in the afternoon. I’m hoping that the hotel I booked for the BC isn’t one of the businesses in Pasadena that has been destroyed.
@ Kari – Loved the video of Tinker, he can give me a kiss anytime. Hope your recovery is progressing well.
@ Tiffany – Hope that your sister is improving, I am thinking of you both.

Beautiful Zenyatta (and Dottie)
Thank you for this place where we have made friends that are like family to appreciate and love. In my last post to replace the one that is disappeared into cyberspace, I was careless and apologize for the spelling and punctuation errors.
@ EANDO friends and Z-sters and Dumplings and fans: Thank you for posting about the latest outrageous news and asking for help to stop the horse slaughtering from returning to the US. We must act and get this stopped prior to it happening again and having to rid ourselves from it again.
@ All: Thank you for being interested and asking what you can do. I invite you to check out EANDO’s website. Go to http://www.equi-army-ndo.com and you can read about current topics with suggestions for actions to take. Sign in by signing your name or a nick-name and a password. You can comment and ask questions and I promise you will get answers. You can also check out the Actions Needed page and the other pages. Whatever you do, please take some actions to get horse slaughter banned from the US. All our pretty horses deserve at least that from us.
Z-hugs to all!
Molly
Zenyatta, what color is your blanket? I really like the blue blankie that Cigar is sporting today. Wishing you and Tasty a good afternoon and some warm, Kentucky sunshine.

@Roxanne Cook: thanks for update on conditions in NorCal/Santa Cruz area, my old stomping grounds. I still have some friends up there; I was wondering if those winds were mostly in SoCal but I guess not.
Glad you’re OK. We’re just hoping for rain here in TX :)). Have a good weekend everyone. I’m glad the Zen connections and fans in SoCal are doing OK.

Timing is everything ~ in the winter months Cigar seems to graze early afternoon (Eastern Time), mornings West Coast time. If you look for him again in late afternoon (ET), you might find him out there again. Lately, I spot him just before sunset ~ he knows I’m “stalking” him LOL Good luck ~ don’t give up!! Never give up!! Zenny’s motto!

Hello Zeny: Thank Dottie for taking the time to inform us on the latest news. Yes, it has been scary in my area too.
Glad to hear all the horses in Santa Anita are fine.

@Sharon in Seattle — From Allie who lived in Vancouver, Wa for 30 years. Try 9:30am and 2pm Pacific Time. Double Click to get a larger screen. But you’ll need to keep refreshing. Cigar seems to like to be at the front of the fence right before sunset.

Hi Zenny,
The Santa Ana’s were HORRIBLE Wednesday night here in the OC- I thought at first we were having an earthquake because the upstairs shook, but the floor didn’t. Then I realized when the second “gust” hit that we were in for some heavy blowing. I closed our windows up tight and it still shook the house so much that our shower doors rattled. My poor kitties were so scared- they were all cuddled under the covers leaning on me. I’ll bet Sophie was cuddled up with Your John and Dottie too!!! (My little Sophie kitten sure was squeezed up against me!)
I’m glad to know that Dottie and John and Sophie are okay, even if their patio furniture decided to take a swim. I’ll bet you don’t miss those devil winds!
Thanks for keeping us up to date. I’m going to SA on opening day but it won’t be the same without you there.

@Trina–Thank you so much for that lovely poem. You know I think you are a marvel. I would get the worst headache trying to come up with something like that on a regular basis. You are the best!
@Laura J–thanks for the explanation. I thought it was something like that, but I wasn’t sure.
@Kari B–I love Tinker! He and Little Silver Charm would make a pair. He is so cute. Minis are adorable. The last time we were at KHP, several of theirs participated in an event, and they brought out 2 new babies to show us that were so young that they had to be carried. So cute.
@Sally B and Susan in TN–thank you for the kind wishes.
@Tiffany–lit a candle and am praying for your dear Krystal. Please keep us posted.
@Anyone–I can’t help wondering about Marlene in the aftermath of the storm. Anyone have a report on whether she got to her destination or not?
LouAnn Cingel of Union, Missouri
Thanks for the fabulous reporting Zenyatta. So glad to hear that things are getting better as far as the winds ceasing. Also so thankful to hear that everyone at Santa Anita are doing well and no one has been hurt. So sorry to hear of all the damage though, but at least it is things that can be replaced and or fixed. Have to all count our blessings, things could have been so much worse.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend Zenyatta. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t sit back and smile thinking of all the exciting memories you have brought to my life. Thankyou sweetie.
Love & Blessings to you always Zenyatta!
