Here's Judy…with ME at the Los Angeles Zoo! Photos from Judy's Files!

Good Morning,

This is SO EXCITING! I am hearing from quite a few people that the TOM MANKIEWICZ CAROUSEL…which I am a part of….at the Los Angeles Zoo is quite a success. Several friends have sent Dottie emails stating they have already been out to see it…and ride ME! A special fan, Judy Gadwood, organized a recent trip to the Zoo and several of my dear friends joined her in the fun! From all reports, they had a GREAT TIME!


A few of them decided it would be rather fun to do a MIKIE impression while riding ME! Here’s TROTT volunteer, Delia St. Pierre, revisiting a MIKE MOMENT that was very special to ME in my life-time!

I can’t tell you how wonderful this makes ME feel. This carousel is hoping to ‘really make a difference at the Zoo’ and help raise funds to aid in the care and maintenance of all of the other animal exhibits. I feel so grateful to be a part of this.

I’m also so excited….YOU are having fun riding ME!


I have so much to be grateful and thankful for in my life. This is the season to reflect on all of these things….and I so appreciate ALL of the LOVE, KINDNESS, THOUGHTFULNESS, and SUPPORT you have given to ME each day.

If you are traveling for the holiday, BE SAFE! If you are staying at home, enjoy each moment!

    Zenyatta – I am so thankful for you and your team. Miss seeing you on the track – watched a bunch of your races yesterday coz I needed a Zen fix! Can’t wait to see that beautiful baby you are carrying. So wish I could come visit you and give you kisses and treats…

    The new carousel is the best thing at the LA Zoo. Got to ride on Z and my friend rode on Giacomo today – what a blast! For a moment in time we were kids again thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Moss!

You are exactly what all of us at Equi-Army-NDO want to see – tracking of all your “kids” and stepping in when they need help, instead of turning a blind eye to “the problem” that others do not wish to discuss.     Dear Zenyatta, I think it would be wonderful to put a ZENYETTA FOR PRESIDENT bumper sticker in your store. I’m sure it would be popular. I remember seeing a Smarty Jones for President in 2004 and how amused I was. It would make people happy to see it and for those unfortunates who aren’t into horse racing, they may get interested in “googling” Zenyatta and finding out about your great career. I don’t get time to read responses to your blog, so maybe others have suggested it. Have a great day, and I hope I will be able to see you in Kentucky one of these days. S

    happy thanksgiving to you dear zenyatta! and to all of your human friends and family – we appreciate all of the things you and your family do for us – especially dear sweet dottie and your john, and the moss’s for sharing you with us – – i also visited you last year on this very day – it was the happiest thanksgiving – i was thankful because i got to take a picture with you zenyatta and to stroke your soft warm neck – it was a glorious moment for me and i will cherish this memory forever – i am also celebrating… since i spent this day with you last year, i have lost 50 pounds! i have 20 more to go and i will make it – because you taught us, dear zenyatta, to never give up – to always try hard – and i am proud to say that you helped me to reach my goals – and one day dear zenyatta… i will pray i can take another picture with you at my new healthy and lighter weight – i pray every day for your good health and happiness zenyatta – and for your family too – i wish you a happy day with lots of fun grazing time – i love you zenyatta! – my sincere thanks, monica

    Hi Zenyatta and Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you had extra treats today as turkey is probably not something you would enjoy.
    I LOVE your carousel horse… that is awesome. They painted the brown markings that are on the white stocking of your back legs. A professinal job, I might say.
    Now I HAVE to go see this. I loved their Mike Smith impressions…toooo cute.

    Zenyatta, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I did, but it went by way too fast. Congratulations on all the success that your carousel at the Los Angeles Zoo has become. It’s great that one of those horses is named after you. Too bad I’m too old to ride carousels, but if I’m ever in Los Angeles, I will stop at the zoo and ride it anyway. I will ride you. It’s great that this carousel will also pay for other things going on in the zoo as well. Consider this a tribute to your success and never ending popularity.
