Good Morning to All!
I want to be sure and send a proper greeting to our dear SARAH on her recent birthday! Here she is holding Reagan, one of my special visitors, so I could meet her. Daily, Sarah does so many fabulous things for ME and for others that I did want to personally send her MY WARMISH WISHES for a truly wonderful year.
I heard that she celebrated with family on one night…and then friends (many of my Lane’s End pals) the next. CHEERS to you, SARAH!
I’d also like to send a HIGH HOOF to RAPID REDUX on his victory last evening at Mountaineer Park. 20 in a row is something very special! He and his connections must be so excited. I’m not sure what his future plans are…but I’m wishing him ALL THE BEST! I think his sire, Pleasantly Perfect, is rather honored by all of this as well. This is truly a significant achievement and such a proud moment for not only Rapid Redux but everyone who works with him each day! CONGRATULATIONS!
All else is going very well. I’m in the midst of relaxing a bit and TASTY and I are enjoying the seasons. The farm is so pretty and the grass is still rather lush. We are having a great time. I am eating properly and getting all the right rest and exercise. My days are just PERFECT!
I am truly one very fortunate horse!
Enjoy your day…and the pre-holiday ‘calm’…before everything gets so busy!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~ (Especially a big belated birthday hug to our SARAH!)

@Zenyatta Austen Society – Thanks to all who enjoyed the Zenyatta story. Sorry for any typos, I was dashing it off while I was home for lunch. Not quite the quill and ink of Austen’s time. I feel like every part of Zenyatta’s life is miraculous and oh so beautiful, just like her.
@Dani and Barbara Wood – Dani, the video of little Autumn certainly brings joy to the heart. How wonderful to see her jumping and playing, even being strong enough to plant a good kick on the shin. Barbara, thank you for keeping us up to date on this precious little soul.
@Past the Grandstand – Great blog post on Pleasantly Perfect!
@Terry Crow – I had to sing a little of the 12 days of redneck Christmas to my staff.
@Doreen in CT – RIP Ghost Gunner.
@Karen Gogue – Sorry you were scratched before the big race, hope everything is well with you my friend. I enjoyed the article on Rapid Redux. It is sad that these “blue collar” work horses do not get the recognition they deserve.
@JAG – I can’t wait to see the pictures and video from your infamous scrape with the law in the great carousel caper.
@Delrene from Carlsbad – Glad you enjoyed the Claiborne link, what a great way to spend the afternoon.
@Peggy (N) – Hi, sis! Swale meant a great deal to the Hancock’s. He held so much promise for the future, if only he had lived. I hope you got a chance to check out some of the other videos on the web site. Hugs!
@Brenda S – Hello lovely lady. Yes, I did see the King’s Speech. Colin did a remarkable job!! Say hello to Vic and Susan.
@Kathy Kimber – Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you and Charlotte. Blessings to you both.
@Kari – If I have a beautiful imagination, my sweet, then it is something we share in our hearts, for your most recent video is an expression of endless beauty. Once again you have brought me to tears, not of sadness but of pure joy. How blessed are we to have Zenyatta in our lives. Yes, such sweet memories. Thank you for the post to celebrate the four year anniversary of Zenyatta’s career start. I can watch her races over and over again and often do! I have the DVD which has all 19 of her wins and I put it in whenever I need a fix. It is wonderful. I love you!
@Shari – Love to you my friend. Larry and you are both in my prayers.
@Kris O, LouAnn Cingel, Sharon in Seattle, Kari and all who may be struggling – Love to all of you!!!! It is a true blessing to have you all in our lives! May you gain strength from the beauty of the written words posted here by your Zenyatta family? They express the hope for healing to you all.

@AJ, he’s pre-entered in the Claiming Crown at Fairgrounds. His owners have not decided whether to run him. They are not sure they want to ship him to Louisiana. However, they are not trying to “run him into the ground,” as you say. He came out of his race in good order, and if he is fit and recovered, there is no reason he can’t race in the Claiming Crown. His connections have managed him well, and he hasn’t run in taxing races. He seems to be one of those horses that thrives on running. If he were tired or injured he would not be winning.

Happy B-orseday to you Sarah :) :) :)

Good evening Zenyatta,
you like little bitty two-legged baby-powder smelly people, don’t you? Ha They are the cutest, not so cute when they go hip but too cute when pint-size.
I’m so glad you and Tasty are doing fine and are comming along splendidly.
Autumn & winter are my fav seasons. Nthg like a crisp nose biting morning, to get you stirrin’ & high-tailed, wouldn’t you agree?
A restful night and dreams of carrots & mints to you
Kathleen Kimber KC, MO
The video of little Autumn is amazing, she is amazing and the entire barn is too what a wonderful inspiration they all are. Can’t remember who brought her to our attention but thank you so very much.
Congrats to Raped Redux for hsi accomplishment it is really quite something. Always just to win is huge but to do it like this. He stands in good company with Citation, Cigar, Zenyatta, Pepper’s Pride and there is another one on which I have now drawn a complete blank. All are champions, each horse so very special. I’m glad RR that you came home safe.
DAWN CONRAD, thanks for the kind words. I’m fine, fighting a cold but so are a lot of people. Always enjoy your posts and your eloquent way of putting things you are very much loved.

Well Happy Thanksgiving everyone in case I miss you.
Z I hope you and Tasty get some good rays on Thurs and lots of yummy hay!
To LE’s crew thank you a million times over for the care you give not only to our beloved Z but to all the other horses not so known to us.
Team Z thank you again for letting us be a part of the journey.

Thanks for letting us know Zenny, Happy Belated Birthday Sarah. What a wonderful gift you get every day to be with Zenyatta. And thank you for all the updates of The Queen to her subjects. :)
RIP Ghost Gunner—so sad.
Congratulations Rapid Redux, have a wonderful, well-earned retirement.
Autumn is just TOO CUTE!!! I’ve gotta donate again to the awesome group helping to save her.
Happy Tuesday evening to everyone. Lotsa love to all.
Deborah Richman, So. Cal.
@Kari…You have outdone yourself yet again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful “I’ll Be Seeing You” video. Had to get out the kleenex…
@Dawn “Austen” Conrad…your gift for words never ceases to amaze me. LOVED your Zenyatta as a Jane Austen heroine story, and Miss Jane herself would have approved, I’m sure!
@Cynthia “Austen” H…How perfectly you put into words the qualities Z has which reflect the ideal Regency woman. I think that if Miss Jane were here today she would add that one must also have the quality of being TOO CUTE :)
AJ from CA
Laura J in Cincinatti -thanks for your take on it – just hope they make a decision based on RR best interest.

So sad to hear about Ghost Gunner, I had been trying to find out what happened since the race. My worst fears have come true.

My sweet gentle Z, Happy Birthday to your friend Sarah. Congrats to Rapid Redux. I took pictures and fed his sire Pleasantly Perfect a couple of peppermints recently at Lanes End. I was so so close to you but yet so far away. My heart will always be close to you Z!
love n 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!!(to you and your connections) and all on this post.

@Kim S, Kathleen Kimber, Dawn Conrad,Delrene, Dani–thank you all for your love and care for little Autumn. It’s the first time seen her kick up her legs like that. Too cute. She still needs our prayers, along with DynaKing. I believe he was sold and then sold on and on until an illegal immigrant abandoned him. If I’m mistaken, please correct.
As far as Hope goes, she is doing well. One leg is almost straight, and she has another surgery or two to go, but things are looking up. She can kneel down now. They can both (Hope and Autumn) be followed on Horse and Man.
@Diana S–oh, Lordy, you CANNOT end up in jail! We cannot afford the bail money or board for your 4-legged baby!
@Peggy (N)–we do hope that the antibiotics have kicked in and that your awful toothache is better so that you can enjoy your Thanksgiving.
@Kari–that video is absolutely beautiful. I’m sl glad you chose the very pictures you used, especially Z and Tasty, Z in the clouds, and the gold Z in the sky at the end. Just lovely. And of course Z eating the tree!
@Lou ann Cingel, Terry Crow, Sharon in Seattle, Kari B.–always in our prayers.
Good night, dear Z. Thank you and Dottie so much for bringing us together. Happy Thanksgiving, Team Z!
Delrene from Carlsbad - (California)
@Kari- Wow – wow and more wow – such a great photo tribute. Just loved it.
@JAG – I sure hope I did it right on facebook as you requested in the e mail. The only reason I joined Facebook was to “Like” Zenyatta and I really don’t utilize it much at all and don’t really know how to navigate it very well. I kind of rely on my husband’s son to help me. And that is kind of sporadic.
Amazing today is our girls 4th anniversary of her first race. What a wonderful journey. I was lucky enough to join “in her dance” by around her 10th and saw everyone in person in Ca. I feel really blessed to be a part of this large family of Zenyatta friends. Thanks all. It is a better world.
As to who started letting us know about Autumn, I know that it was brought to my attention through the HorseandMan blog and others on this website. There was another little filly that needed help too. Her name was Hope. Her legs were in need of multiple operations. I think she is located at a rescue in Mo. I hope she is doing well Haven’t seen any news about her recently on the above mentioned blog. Bless all of you and stay safe over this long Thanksgiving weekend.
Delrene from Carlsbad - (California)
Just saw Barbara’s post. We must have been writing at approx the same time. Thanks for the news on Hope!
Dawn Conrad / Colorado
@Cynthia (Austen) H – I am sorry I missed your post previously. I believe your own talent to pen an Austen influenced piece was well on display in your words pointing out the stellar Regency woman qualities our Zenyatta exemplifies. Such magnificent qualities. You possess both “sense and sensibility” in your prose. :) :) It was wonderful!!
@LauraJ – I agree, Regency Romance is a brilliant name!
Dawn Conrad / Colorado
@Deborah Richman – Being TOO CUTE is the most important quality of all.

Zen, you’ll make a great Mom. I can see how much you love children. Thanks for sharing this picture.

QUEEN Z: Sure have enjoyed the recent photos as always…you and your TEAM are surrounded by love for each other, which shines through in these pictures. Many, many THANKS to all of you for GIVING Ms. Z to US! I’m sure at many a Turkey Day table your name will be mentioned.
@Terry Crow: so nice to “hear” your voice again. As others have said, take the time to go at your own pace. But it is good to have you with us once again. Condolences to you…
@JAG touched John Henry/Zenny/So.Cal:
so enjoyed the Carousel descriptions! :)
@Diastu in Tempe: sorry about your vet scratch. Have some of that Guiness and you’ll be ready for a rout/romp a month from now!
@Cynthia H/Where Zenyatta danced: I like–really like–your idea of being Z’s social secretary. :)
@Dawn Conrad and others of the Zenyatta Austen Society: have enjoyed your descripions of same. Especially liked Dawn’s dust jacket summary :)
@Kari: first, my thoughts are with you. Continue to heal. AND, I just loved Frank S’s I’ll be Seeing You, with those SO appropriately placed photos of our dear QUEEN. WOW. Must viewing!! More than once!!
@Trina N. and others: Rod visited Rightful Image last week and this time Rightful was more mindful of his manners. You might ask why Rod and not yours truly? Well, Rod has to go to El Monte on a monthly basis for his company, so why not go down the street (sort of) and pay some horses a visit?–While I’m slaving away at work, mind you. I’m always told later that Rightful and sometimes even Caracatado send their hellos to me. (Of course!) No date yet for a Rightful race–he still has have a couple of works–then we’ll see.
@All who are struggling with health and loss issues: hope being “here” helps ease the pain and most of the time makes you smile.
@Karen Gogue: I have a note here with your name on it, but I can’t read my own writing, so sorry! When I can decipher it…
@ALL: probably most of us have been asked at the T’giving table what we have to be thankful for in any given year. Well, my answer this year, will be, among other things, being healthy (comparatively speaking), and of course YOU, ZENYATTA, our QUEEN— AND the Dumplings. To think a year ago we did not know each other. This most definitely includes Dottie and JOHN, and well, all of Z’s connections! Many, many thanks for all that you do. It cannot be overstated.
@To Z again: happy anniversary on your first win! Who knew where it would all lead? SWEET DREAMS!!!
Cynthia H./Where Zenyatta Danced
@Kari: Karina Russell, will you please stop making us cry, every time we view one of your magnficent videos? I loved your chioce of song, which is especially dear to me. That conk on the head which resulted in an eight-day nap has done nothing to diminsh your talent. Frank-ly, this was a love poem to Zenyatta and all she means to those close to her and everything which they all mean to you—which is the world. Kudos to you, my beloved friend.

Hi Zenny,
Just wanted to wish you Happy Anniversary. Today (11/22) is the day you won your maiden race in 2007. Who knew what that would be the start of (maybe John~wink~).
You are looking so content with your upcoming motherhood . .
Love you Zenny,
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
@Terry Crow – Liked the “12 days of redneck Christmas”, but I cannot for the life of me imagine anyone eating anything out of a vacuum-cleaner bag! The floor, even the rug, or sometimes retrieved from the wastebasket, yes of course, but not the vacuum! Or perhaps I’m getting too civilized, like Huck Finn was afeared of.
@Rednecks – You might be a redneck if you have guns in your house that you cannot find. You might be a redneck if you have a set of 16 matching salad bowls, and they all say “Cool Whip” on the side. You might be a redneck if “fun” in high school was running the gym teacher’s wig up the flag pole, while she was in the shower.
@One and all – here’s wishing you a good Thanksgiving! I hope the holidays are kind to all of us, wherever we rest our heads, especially those ill, hurting, sad, or in any kind of trouble.
Kristina
Hello Zenyatta! Thank good I found this blog, it’s so interesting to read about you. Altough in our country ESTONIA we dont have any thoroughbred racing culture, I’m a big fan of the sport and hope to see atleast one race in my life. Wish you all the best Queen Z and big greetings from estonia! :)
Heidi (Vallejo.Calif)
Ok, I guess I missed something, what happened to Ghost Gunner? Never heard of that horse before!
JAG, can I send a friends request on fb so that I can see you’re pics of the run for Zenny at the Carousel? LOL
Hey, Zenny… I was told Monday that I will be getting the Jersey and zippy coat! My partner made a boo boo when trying to order so, it wasn’t ordered until my b-day (19th)! I hope I get it tomorrow so that I can celebrate Thanksgiving in Zenny style! Hey, at least I got my hat on my b-day!
Heidi (Vallejo.Calif)
Sandy (in Ohio)… If you’re worried about your privacy on FB you can create an alias. Just go to join and it will walk you through it. If you want friends only/private, just click on that and only the friends invited will be able to see you’re wall. Instead of having it set at “public access!” I hope that will help you out. :)
Terri Z / South Florida
Wishing the Zsters, the Mosses and Sherriffs a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.
And to Sandy in Ohio, I list very general info on Facebook and don’t list my home town or picture; in that way, your privacy and safety are assured.
And thanks to all for your wonderful posts and websites. Most of all, thanks to the Mosses and Dottie Sherriffs for making this website happen.
JAG love your hysterical stampede stories at the carousel. And Terry Crow, I adored your joke about the handicaper.
I think the Mosses and the Z-sters have made a positive impact on the sport and the aftercare of the retired race horses.
I’m really grateful that I live 15 minutes away from three race tracks. And I am looking forward to seeing Awesome Feather (undefeated filly) and Mucho Macho Man or Moochie run at Gulfstream.
And Gulfstream is going to have a wine walk at the Gulfstream Village on Dec 7th to promote their aftercare program for retired race horses. For $10 you get a wine glass and wine.
Terri Z / South Florida
To Dawn Conrad thanks for the wonderful story of Zenyatta. I just hope the Queen Elizabeth gets to meet our Queen Zenyatta; wouldn’t that be something special.
To Sarah: wishing you a belated happy Birthday and wishing you many more wonderful birthdays to come. And thanks for taking such wonderful care of the Queen.
To Kari B: Thanks for the reminder of 1st anniversary of Z’s first race.
To Trina N.: thanks for the wonderful poetry.
