Happy Monday Dear Friends,
I must say, whenever MY JOHN visits he has so many wonderful compliments for ME. He has always allowed ME the opportunity to be ME…and to feel so good about myself. I love spending time with him!
Per my California update this morning from Dottie, I heard that it rained over one inch in just a few hours yesterday afternoon at Hollywood Park. For some parts of the country, this happens quite a bit…but in Los Angeles, this is truly a rarity. Thus, the last few races at Hollywood Park were canceled…simply for safety
reasons.
This morning, it is absolutely gorgeous there…the sun is shining brightly and it is crisp and lovely outside. It is the perfect November morning! Thus, the track should dry out quickly. All should be A-OK for the horses and Hollywood Park’s Autumn Festival of racing to take place there this weekend.
On other racing fronts, I do want to send a HIGH HOOF to Steve Asmussen on winning his 6,000th race this weekend. This is truly a remarkable accomplishment…and then to top it off by having SABERCAT win the Delta Jackpot adds to the FUN!
The Delta Princess went to NOW I KNOW who is now 5 for 5 in her racing career. This is very special! Congratulations to this lovely filly and all of her connections.
Then tonight, RAPID REDUX goes for #20 in a row at Mountaineer Park. His race runs at 9:55 Eastern….6:55 Pacific. All the best to him in this one mile event! My Lane’s End friends and I will be watching! His sire is Pleasantly Perfect…who is one of the stallions who stands here at our farm. Good Luck, Rapid Redux, in this quest!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

Zenny, you and John are TOO CUTE together. What a special bond the two of you have.
@Terry Crow–Welcome back but take all the time you need. We’ll be here to listen if need an ear or 2 or dozens.
An update on Grace (Freda’s Girl–correct spelling). She is doing very well and is being looked after by several helping hadns at the rescue. She is eating well and having her wounds dressed every day. The worst still being the saddle sore on her withers. She has a boyfriend :) Another ex-racer that was adopted by a volunteer, Nostringsattached, Strings, for short. He was lovestruck her first day there. Hopefully soon, there will be a picture of Grace on equestrianinc.org but you can still visit the site and see Strings.
And just in case anyone is too busy to visit the diary during the next few days, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Enjoy your families and friends.
Zenny, you have a great Thanksgiving with Tasty and your LE family. Team Z in CA, you are wished the best and we are thankful to you for giving us Zenyatta.
Lotsa love to all.
Paul
Zenyatta, you really are very fortunate to have such a great trainer and friend in John who lets you be you and looks out for you. He cares very much about your well being. It did rain quite a bit in Los Angeles this past weekend. It was disappointing to see Hollywood Park cancel their last 3 races of the night. That didn’t stop Los Alamitos, however. The trials last night were exciting and the finals for the Deuce Trials are Sunday, December 11, I believe. I will be watching if life doesn’t happen to me that night if you know what I mean. Happy Thanksgiving, Zenyatta. I hope they feed you and the other horses very well. Don’t eat too much turkey, though. Eat enough for you and your unborn foal, however and tell your stallmate Tasty to do the same thing.
Margaret
To those that have agreed with me about RR thank you. Many have expressed things much better than I.
Truly in the end I want the horse to come home safe and sound and be retired to a great home. I just wish he wasn’t being used as a pawn.

@signofthetimes, according to an article in Blood Horse, “…Rapid Redux was pre-entered for the Dec. 3 Claiming Crown at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. Nominations for the Claiming Crown closed earlier in the afternoon.
.
Rapid Redux will target the $50,000 Iron Horse for 3-year-olds and up that have started for a claiming price of $7,500 or less. The distance is 1 1/16 miles.”

You never take a bad picture, and niether does John. :):)
Hoping RR stays safe and retires.

Dear Zenyatta another Beautiful picture of you and John. I carried my new Zenyatta Feed Bag today and everyone at school loved it. I was up and down the halls showing it off. I love you so much. I talked to Rosemary tonight and my Zenyatta picture is on its way. I am so excited to get it. What a giving family we have. This site is Zenyattaville and we all live in this world. What a Beautiful world it is :) I am just so blessed to be part of Zenyatta and my Z family. I hope you and Tasty had a good day. Stay dry tomorrow because we are suppose to get a lot of rain. Well I need to get ready for school. Sweet dreams Queen Zenyatta. I love you. Sending Many Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO
@ Dawn I always love talking to YOU :) Have a good day tomorrow.

Good evening Zenyatta,
my, are you getting an earful of sweet talk there? Your John is still capturing all your attention, isn’t he? Every night there’s another gem of a picture :)
Thank you :) :) :)
Have a restful sleep and dream sweet

@Barbara Grimaldi, even if RR wins his 20th race, no one will consider him to be on a par with Zenyatta or with Pepper’s Pride, for that matter. There is a huge difference between a starter allowance and a G1 race. Zenyatta will be in the Hall of Fame. Rapid Redux will be the answer to a trivia question. But what is wrong with RR’s owners pursuing a record? That is what the Mosses did. It was their right and their choice to make, and it certainly didn’t hurt Zenyatta any. However, she had a softer schedule than she might otherwise have had–no Hollywood Gold Cup, no Pacific Classic, etc. Same with Pepper’s Pride: her owners made a conscious decision to keep her in state-bred stakes races they knew she could win, rather than trying her in higher level stakes races.

@ Dawn Conrad – Thank you for directing me to the Claiborne link – Guess how I spent a big part of my late afternoon? enjoying all the videos. I saw Three Chimneys when I was in Paris, Ky, but of course was not able to go to many. I wanted to go see Monarchos at Two Bucks too. I just love him. What a great website.
and Barbara in Texas, yes, AUTUMN is made for lots of hugs and kisses. The videos of her ( I think Facebook) has this one volunteer that totally has the best volunteer job ever!
Marcee
I love you Zenyatta!

Hi Zenny such a beautiful picture above of you and your John. I’ve missed a few posts, but have been a little under the weather. Had a tooth filled a little while back (just a little filling) but after i had it filled it started hurting. kept hurting my Dentist wanted to try and redo the filling and pack it more. Well he did, but my tooth is still hurting. I may have to have a root canal. YuK, have never even had a tooth acke before let alone a root canal. I called my Dentist today and they gave me an antibiotic and I have pain meds. Wish me luck Zen. I guess I’ve just been eating to much chocolate. That Coke and Hersheys bar in the afternoon, Yeah i know its gotta go.
@Everyone, Hope Everyone has a wonderful Holiday.
@Sis Dawn, Thank You so much for the video of Swale. Just wonderful.
Have to go watch Rapid Redux.
LOL to all
Love Ya Zenny

What a lovely, sweet photo of you, Zenyatta. Playing coy are you, with your dear John? I don’t think you ever need fear a rival for his affection….unless it is your own dear Dottie!
@Terry Crow: There were far less smiles and laughter on this site during your absence. You were greatly missed by many. @Dawn Conrad: I knew it! Your exquisite writng has all of the earmarkings of an Austenian. I share your passion for the glorious Miss Jane’s novels (and Mr. Darcy), and have a vast library of BBC Masterpiece Theatre productions. The Zenyatta Austen Society is now officially formed! (Please forgive this digression, posters.)

Congrats to Rapid Redux who just went wire to wire and won by 5 lengths. What was really strange is that 4 out of the 8 horses were scratched so he only beat out 3 but hope his owners give him a nice retirement since he’s a gelding and has now earned his unique place in history.
Kimberly Potter/Montana
Conratulations to Rapid Redux~ 20 for 20, gate to wire under a hand ride! Great accomplishment Beautiful Boy!
Kimberly Potter/Montana
@AJ from CA~ I read an interview with his trainer who said RR was going to Kentucky Horse Park to retire. He deserves it!!!
Your are right, he has earned his unique place in history.

@Terry Crow – Welcome back!
@all – I enjoyed all the talk about Rapid Redux, as I have had mixed feelings about his “record” pursuit. I felt like if he’s reaching the best of his potential, then kudos! But if he’s being raced too much by people who don’t really care about him, then boo. I don’t feel like I can know that answer.
stephanie (s in san diego)
Way to GO RAPID REDUX (RR). Regardless of the level he runs at…He shows up EVERYTIME..(like someone else we all know and love). Hope the big boy gets a nice rest and lots of treats and hugs!
stephanie (s in san diego)
@Kimberly P. Thanks for the information about RR and Ky Horse Park. He will get the love and attention he deserves, Good news.
Kimberly Potter/Montana
@Stephanie (s in san diego) I agree with you completely about RR. It doesn’t matter what level he runs at… He is a beautiful boy who runs his heart out.
Leiana in Santa Barbara, CA
@Vicki B: If I remember reading rightly, he ran in a stakes race in 2009 … third in a 3-horse field, and very far back. They dropped in down in class, and he’s been running really well since. He won tonight under a hand ride gate-to-wire. I think his connections really do care a lot about him. He just thrives on running sooner than other horses do.

Congrats to Redux. But seriously nobody compares to “Queen Z” Thanks so much for this inspiring site.
Paula Higins
Congrats to Rapid Redux on his 20th win! Dottie you are always so generous of heart by noting his achievements. I think Rapid Redux should be nominated for HOTY or given a special acknowledgement by the Eclipse Awards Committee. This is quite an accomplishment. Not at the level of Zenyatta obviously, but special nonentheless. I think his connections love him very much and he is well cared for. As Stephanie said, “he shows up everytime just like someone else we know and love.” Love the picture of our girl with John. She knows she is not forgotten by her family.
Delrene from Carlsbad - (California)
Hope they post the race on Bloodhorse tomorrow or youtube or somewhere to watch it. I left my computer on and used up my “free time” on the Twinspires video. Bummer. happy he won, but happier to read of his upcoming retirement to Kentucky Horse Park. The picture in the one post is gorgeous. What a handsome fella. Glad all horses came home safe.

Queen Z….you make your JOHN so happy!!
His smile is always bigger when he is with you.
Congrats to Rapid Redux…when did his trainer say he would retire to the Kentucky Horse Park? I hope it is soon so he can retire healthy and sound. Yes, he won 20 on a different level than our Queen but he showed up and gave his all 20 times. I hope he enjoys a long happy
retirement at the Hose Park with his many
fans.
