Happy Friday to All!
MY JOHN did get some great images of TASTY and I while he was here visiting several days ago. I hope you enjoy them. He wanted to get a variety of photos…so you could share in the many activities which make up our day here at Lane’s End.
Basically, we eat, sleep, play, get tons of attention and grooming, and LOVE TO RUN! I guess one never gets too far from his / her roots…and ours, being that we are thoroughbred race horses, means we are bred to run. I must say…we have great FUN doing so!
HMMMM…..I hope our ‘babies to be’ inherit the passion we have for exercise, training, and running! HOOVES CROSSED! I know one thing for sure, both TASTY and I will set a very positive example and role model for our foals.
On the racing front, there are several very competitive stakes taking place this weekend. At DELTA DOWNS, the races at this venue highlight the action. With the graded stakes earnings from one singular race for 2 year olds, The Delta Jackpot which has a purse of $1,000,000, the winner and possibly the 2nd horse will earn enough graded stakes money to qualify for the 2012 Kentucky Derby field. So for this reason alone, this Grade 3 event becomes quite significant and one to follow. It has definite ramifications for next year’s 3 year old DERBY contenders and the graded stakes money one needs to ultimately qualify for the field.
I must say, our business is one of always looking ahead and thinking about the future! That is truly something that adds to the FUN and EXCITEMENT OF OUR SPORT!
Good Luck to all runners this weekend and their connections.
May ALL of you have a wonderful time as well.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@signofthetimes – To Honor and Serve to me is at his best at 1 1/8 miles. I’m sure that he’s only running in this race because he’s still sharp and he’s two-for-two at the track. I’m sure he’ll be back to running races longer than a mile when he races next year (unless they retire him – I hope not – I think he’s still maturing/learning).
@Dawn Conrad – you’re welcome and thank you for the link. I enjoyed the site and saw the foaling shed in the video. I too thought Swale died of a heart attack. He was a very nice looking horse just like his sire. I looked up his pedigree and noticed that both Swale and Zenyatta through their dam side have Forli – Swale’s grand sire and Zenyatta’s Great Grand Sire. Princequillo is also a distant relative: for Swale, he’s on his sire’s side and for Zenyatta, her dam’s side. When you think of it, every TB is descended from the three foundation sires, so TBs have at least these three sires in common, but it’s always interesting to see how closely related they are to one another.
@Terry Crow – I’m so sorry about your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you through this difficult time.

@Kennedys, thanks for another Zenyatta gem. That video of her bowing before her race only confirms what we all know…she is super spectacular and one of a kind. And…she knows her name! :-)

Queen Z I look forward to your updates. It is so good to see you enjoying your life in Kentucky. A High Hoof to Dottie for being your interpreter.

@Doreen
Thank for the Enlightenment on To Honor and Serve.
Really like this boy of Bernies. He is a talent developing
And like the idea of keeping him going because
He is doing well this year.

@Eveline
Liked that win by Sabercat today also.
He got bumped out of the gate and just kept
On going with a great acceleration at the end.

Dear Zenyatta I hope you and Tasty enjoyed the sunshine today. I received my new Zenyatta bag today and I love it. I got it in the chili color and I can’t wait to carry my school stuff in it. I love the Zenyatta store. Thank your family for making us all so happy. Anything Zenyatta is the BEST!!! I hope you have sweet dreams tonight. I love you always. Sending you Many Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO
@ To my Z family Peppermint Pal has a new video. I think you will all enjoy it. My class is learning all about the sport and having fun following Mistletoe. They made cards for Hansen after watching the video of his win. http://www.peppermintpal.com
Thank you Z family for your support :)

@Terry Crow – I’m sorry about Don, it’s always tough losing a friend. Takes a lot of time… I still sometimes think about the best friend I lost in 1982.
@Terry Crow – Also, while not the most important thing, your presence as exalted leader of the redneck club has been sorely missed. Some of us did keep those jokes coming for quite awhile, in your dubious honor, even making sure to filter out the ones not suitable for this site (I previously had no idea there were so many of the latter!)
@Kennedys – Thanks! Love your story & video, looks like Zenny recognized her name, and knew to bow! Certainly the Queen.
@all, Enjoyed today’s “Carousel Derby” news-flashes. Awaiting the race results with baited breath! And who made the call, was it a photo-finish, or did stewards have to get involved?

Hi to the Z family; if anyone wants a good laugh look up Mucho Macho Man’s facebook page. In it he dances to his theme song by the Village People, Macho, Macho Man. It’s just too cute. He finally grew into his 17.1 hands frame and he just had a great wire to wire win at Aquaduct. He’s at Gulfstream for the winter. His trainer, Cathy Ritvo, had a heart transplant at the same time he was born; they thought he was dead at birth. Everyone prayed over him and he suddenly got up and ran.
To Terry Crow–sorry for your loss.
To Judy B.–hope all is well.
To Karrie B.–glad you made it back in one piece and glad you are doing well.
Best wishes to everyone and Queen Z and Tasty.

@Kari Bussell – I just watched the Tennessee/Vandy game. Wow, what a game! You should be proud. It looked like Tennessee was done for, and they came fighting back. (You sure did a lot better than we did against Vandy. They beat us by 30!) The only thing that stands between Tennessee and a bowl bid is Kentucky. Next Saturday is the showdown! (Honestly, I wouldn’t be too worried if I were you!) LOL
Peppermint
Beautiful picture of you and Tasty. Thanks, John.
@ Terry Crow Sorry for your loss.
Thanks to all for the great links. Really enjoyed them.

P.S. Four of us So. Coast Dumplings made it to the carousel! We had an absolute BLAST – no children were harmed in the rush to ride the Queen. We had 3 cameras plus my video camera ~ TOO CUTE! We spent an hour and a half taking turns and filming. No, we did not make the 6:00 news :-))) Some of us also road Tiago. Giacomo was more inside, but we took pics of him! Equal Opportunity!

Zenyatta (Ann and Jerry): Thank YOU for bringing the “inner child” out of us!

Hi, one last post tonight…does anyone know what is going on with “E”? Did I miss something? I have not had any update from my virtual stable and nothing has been updated on her facebook page for a few weeks. Just wondering how she is?

Zenyatta, decided to visit Delta Downs after reading this post. Great track! I’m taking riding lessons in Iowa, Louisiana and the track is an easy stop on the way back to Texas. Y’all take care.

A little humor posted on fb:
”Los Angeles police are on the hunt today for a woman dressed in teal and pink jockey silks who refused to leave the Zenyatta figure at the zoo’s carousel.
Onlookers identified the woman as Judy Maass Gadwood of California. Allegedly, she sprinted to the carousel past a horde of children as the zoo opened its gates, and rode the Zenyatta figure for over two hours.
Zoo officials called police after their attempts to subdue Gadwood with a tranquilizer dart gun failed.
However, before police arrived, a group of similarly dressed women hustled Ms. Gadwood out of the zoo, allegedly shouting, “Dumplings Forever!”
Anyone with leads as to the whereabouts of Gadwood and her gang should report to the nearest authorities. Gang members are not believed to be armed, except with cameras, but may injure others accidentally as they jump up and down in glee.
Gadwood was previously charged with stalking retired racehorse Cigar at the Kentucky Horse Park, but charges were dropped when Cigar admitted he liked the attention.”

@Kari-Redneck-Elvis-Lover: I am so glad you admitted it first! Peanut butter, banana, and miracle whip is one of my all time favorites! Elvis was right! Now I’m gonna lose all my California AND Arizona Redneck street cred unless I also admit – I wash ’em down with a nice Bordeaux. YUM!

@ The Zen Family, although I haven’t commented much lately, I have kept up and read you comments/opines daily. I need a very special favor for my dear, sweet friend DynaKing/Gifted, he really needs your prayers and good thoughts to pull him thru this latest bout with laminitis. Please keep him and Judy in your thoughts and prayers! <3
@ Lady Z and TT, what beautiful mothers-to-be you are. I just smile and glow with pride with each new and endearing pic. Lady Z, you're simply amazing!! <3

Dear Zenny, I’ve been so busy this past week helping to do the Christmas decorating at my friend’s hotel in Niagara Falls that I’ve only just been able to check the photos and your message and post an occasional comment. Your John’s photos are awesome and thinking back to all the photos that we’ve seen I think that there are more than enough for YOU to do a nice photographic autobiography. Another new career for you and a fabulous book for all of us. It would be a best seller and raise oodles of cash for your charities.
The photo today is so heart warming, two happy, contented mares doing what comes naturally and it makes me so happy to see what good friends you and Tasty are. As I have said before, I’m very fond of Tasty and proud that a Canadian gets to spend her days with you.
@ CA Dumplings – Nothing on the news here in Canada about riots at the LA zoo so I assumed that you all behaved yourselves, played nice and took turns riding Zenny, but JAG obviously had breaking news!!! Hope you had a good time.
@ Terry C – My condolences, losing a dear friend is so hard. You are missed.
@ Kari – More posts from you so I’m hoping that means that you’re on the mend.

Love the summary of the exciting events at the
Carousel. Guess you forgot to wear your prison
Guard uniform and were in a plain clothes disguise.
So much fun!!!!!

LOVE the account of the DUmpling Carousel run! TOO funny. I would love to see it on YouTube.
Since it doesn’t appear that football is a forbidden topic, I have to say hoop-de-do! tou our Baylor Bears who beat OU on tv last night. Way to go!
