Happy Friday to All!
MY JOHN did get some great images of TASTY and I while he was here visiting several days ago. I hope you enjoy them. He wanted to get a variety of photos…so you could share in the many activities which make up our day here at Lane’s End.
Basically, we eat, sleep, play, get tons of attention and grooming, and LOVE TO RUN! I guess one never gets too far from his / her roots…and ours, being that we are thoroughbred race horses, means we are bred to run. I must say…we have great FUN doing so!
HMMMM…..I hope our ‘babies to be’ inherit the passion we have for exercise, training, and running! HOOVES CROSSED! I know one thing for sure, both TASTY and I will set a very positive example and role model for our foals.
On the racing front, there are several very competitive stakes taking place this weekend. At DELTA DOWNS, the races at this venue highlight the action. With the graded stakes earnings from one singular race for 2 year olds, The Delta Jackpot which has a purse of $1,000,000, the winner and possibly the 2nd horse will earn enough graded stakes money to qualify for the 2012 Kentucky Derby field. So for this reason alone, this Grade 3 event becomes quite significant and one to follow. It has definite ramifications for next year’s 3 year old DERBY contenders and the graded stakes money one needs to ultimately qualify for the field.
I must say, our business is one of always looking ahead and thinking about the future! That is truly something that adds to the FUN and EXCITEMENT OF OUR SPORT!
Good Luck to all runners this weekend and their connections.
May ALL of you have a wonderful time as well.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Zenny
Love the photo. Hey, you are supposed to be coming from behind.
I guess you are close to the wire. Really love how you run together.
Horses who do not race seem to run much farther apart. You two are
TOO CUTE !!! Thanks so much John for taking these pictures
Of their exercise. I guess it just starts spontaneously.
Exciting races this weekend. Have fun Zenny and Tasty.

@Alex…I did not know that we could put our request in! LOL. Well…if she hits the 9th for JAG or the 16th for you…I will still consider it a “belated” birthday present.
Got my Zenyatta Breeders Cup Party sweatshirt about 20 minutes ago!! Yea…and it’s just cool enough to wear it. But.. my posted did not arrive. Hope it is just shipping seperatly.

It looks as if Drosselmeyer will not be running next year and will retire instead: http://www.drf.com/news/breeders-cup-classic-winner-drosselmeyer-stand-winstar-farm-kentucky-rather-new-york
@Joanna from Texas – you’re welcome.
@Kimberly Potter/Montana: Hunker down and try to stay warm and safe. My state had one heck of a storm two weeks ago (way too early for us) and we had about two thirds of the state out of power and up to 22 inches in some towns. Some people didn’t get their power for 1 ½ weeks. Hopefully that won’t be the case for you. I used to love the snow when I was a kid, but once you grow up and have to deal with all that comes with it, it isn’t that fun anymore, unless you’re a polar bear or a husky:)

Dear Zenny
Forgot to mention human mothers play music for
Their babies when they are in their stomachs. TB
Racing broodmares run so the foals in their stomaches
Hear their thundering hooves (two sets) so they already
Know how to run and are used to all the sounds when
Running with other horses. XXXOOO
Char
Two beautiful mares. Soon the snow will come and it will be your second winter.

@Doreen
Have been waiting for the article on Drosselmeyer.
Good point to go out as a BCC winner with a record
Like AP Indy and for him to stand in KY with
His Sire. He did lose 3 this year although second in the
Jockey Club Gold. Would liked to have seen him run more
Though with Mikey in the saddle. Good luck Drosselmeyer in your
New career, with the girls.

One of Bernie’s top offspring (To Honor and Serve) will probably be running in the Cigar Mile a week from Saturday. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get the chance to see him in person. He’s been a favorite of mine for more than a year: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/66264/to-honor-and-serve-pointing-toward-cigar-mile

Oh Z in the lead where you belong. Even pregnant you are the swiftest of the swift and strongest of the strong. SOO wonderful to see you run.

@Terry Crow – Sorry to hear about your friend. We will be happy to see you back here when you’re ready.
Cynthia H./Where Zenyatta Danced
Maybe someday the gorgeous photo on this Diary will be available in Zenyatta’s shop.
I suspect Judy “John Henry” Gadwood might be early morning line favorite for the Carousel Derby, 6/5.
WILD HORSES
That tail is the cutest thing I’ve EVER seen!!! Lori

What wonderful friends I have, love you Daunice and Megan. They were at the Zenyatta luncheon party and got me one of “The Queen’s Dance” prints signed by the team. Can’t wait to see my pals at the BC next year and give them a big hug from me and Zenyatta.

@Diana S
Once a racehorse always one even when pregnant.
I wonder if they will stop? Maybe when in labor. Of couse
with humans walking makes the baby come sooner, maybe a slow
Collected canter or trot in labor will help the foal come quicker ????
I would also think they keep on moving until time to deliver
As instinct from the wild. Laying down or walking horse would be
More prone to be a prey item.

I just love this picture of you and Tasty, Zenny! It is so awesome to see horses running free like they were meant to do. The two of you are just too cute. I love you, beautiful girl!
@Terry Crow – I’m so sorry about the loss of your friend Don. I hope you’re able to get back online with us soon.
@All FB posters – Drosselmeyer is trying to get 300 “likes” on FB, so help him out if you can!

Good point about Arab characteristics, one of which
Is to raise their tail and run with it up like Zenny does.
TB have Arab blood.

Rapid Redux on the card for Mountaineer Monday, Nov
21st for 19 wins. Another record he is in line for is
Citations 19 races in one year. He currently has 18 run this year.
Next race will tie Citation and pass Zenny and Pepper Pike Record.
No matter what level he is a talent and his trainer is also a talent.

Rapid Redux goes for 20th win

@Dorren
Love the link to To Honor and Serves next race.
Just have concerns about anyone running the mile
With Frankel possibly coming in 2012. I guess one needs
To make money and run where they do best.

Thanks for letting us know.

Wonderful photo! Thanks to John, Dottie, and, of course, Z and TT, for this treat! There have been enough wonderful pics to fill at least one calendar. Watching these 2 long-legged beauties enjoying their run reminds me of our Saluki girls flying across the pastures. They are the marathoners of the canine world!
Dolores Pshsnychniak
I love this photo of you and Tasty!!! Is this available to order?.It is beautiful! Thanks for sharing Zenyatta!
Gloria
Thanks for posting the great picture. Great to see Big Mama Z progressing with her buddy Tasty Temptation!
Annie
Two gorgeous girls out for a run! And you still have leaves on the trees. Just north of KY, we in OH have all bare trees already.
Sharon Call, Atlanta, GA
@Diana S. I got a better one than peanut butter and pickles. How about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich WITH A fried egg and a piece of fried bologna on it as well. I have a friend that grew up eating that combo. Sort of makes your toes curl doesn’t it.
Sharon Call, Atlanta, GA
@Diana S. Oh Lord, I’m so sorry to hear about Terry’s loss. I lost a very dear friend not quite 3 years ago and still miss her so much that, at times, it just plain hurts. Please let Terry know how much we miss him and think about him.
