Happy Friday to All!
MY JOHN did get some great images of TASTY and I while he was here visiting several days ago. I hope you enjoy them. He wanted to get a variety of photos…so you could share in the many activities which make up our day here at Lane’s End.
Basically, we eat, sleep, play, get tons of attention and grooming, and LOVE TO RUN! I guess one never gets too far from his / her roots…and ours, being that we are thoroughbred race horses, means we are bred to run. I must say…we have great FUN doing so!
HMMMM…..I hope our ‘babies to be’ inherit the passion we have for exercise, training, and running! HOOVES CROSSED! I know one thing for sure, both TASTY and I will set a very positive example and role model for our foals.
On the racing front, there are several very competitive stakes taking place this weekend. At DELTA DOWNS, the races at this venue highlight the action. With the graded stakes earnings from one singular race for 2 year olds, The Delta Jackpot which has a purse of $1,000,000, the winner and possibly the 2nd horse will earn enough graded stakes money to qualify for the 2012 Kentucky Derby field. So for this reason alone, this Grade 3 event becomes quite significant and one to follow. It has definite ramifications for next year’s 3 year old DERBY contenders and the graded stakes money one needs to ultimately qualify for the field.
I must say, our business is one of always looking ahead and thinking about the future! That is truly something that adds to the FUN and EXCITEMENT OF OUR SPORT!
Good Luck to all runners this weekend and their connections.
May ALL of you have a wonderful time as well.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

beautiful photo. their colors match well with eachother in contrast like this. i hope that Zenny will continue to show just what a great horse she really is and i hope that after the foal is born we continue to get updates on the foal. like when and if it’ll be sold, who bought it, and such so we can follow it’s career through racing and get to see if it got it’s Momma’s talent.

Zenny- you and Tasty are flying! What a beautiful photo. Thank your John for us! I’ll bet your babies are getting the feel for running already. Good thing they are floating around in there! As Cynthia H said, I have become very fond Of Tasty and look forward to her baby, too. If she’s a friend of yours, Z, she’s a friend of ours! Have a great weekend, sweet girl. Love you <3

Beautiful girls, running free!

Zenny – both you and Tasty will be great mothers to your foals. You exemplify your breed – both of you love to run. Being exceptionally good at it is a bonus and hopefully you’ll pass that love and talent on to your offspring – having you as its mother and Bernardini as its father – your foal has an exceptionally good foundation to work from. Enjoy your weekend with Tasty and good luck and safe trips to everyone racing this weekend.
John – thank you for the wonderful pictures that you’ve taken during your visit to see our beloved Zenny.
@signofthetimes – I hope Giant Oak makes a full recovery. He is very durable – it’s hard to remain successful when you’re always going up against other graded stakes runners, but he seems to hold his own. He’ll be missed if he retires – but you always have to do what’s right by the horse.

These photos are just so amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing with us.

@Heidi, pregnant mares are fine running. Horses are prey animals and so must be able to run at all stages of life. Otherwise, they are dead–in the wild at least.

@Natasha Armstrong, all Thoroughbreds are descended from Arab-type stock. Sometimes a little bit of the Arab peeks out in a tail or a slightly dished face. Oriental stallions were imported to England and Europe and bred with local mares to produce the breed. The three famous “foundation sires” were the Darley Arabial, the Godolphin Arabian (or Barb), and the Byerly Turk. There are a few others that didn’t leave male lineages but are present in today’s pedigrees via their female descendants.

@Ashley, don’t worry. I’d bet my house that this baby will not be for sale.

Zenny, YOU and TT are “too cute”! What a great life you are having at LE. It’s such a treat to follow you each day and, thanks to John and the rest of Team Z, get such amazing photos. Yes, girls just want to have fun and you surely know how to do it. Just keep on, keeping on as they say.
tony and sue
@Ashley, Ann Moss has said they are definitely keeping Z’s foal. You can bet they will give him/her all the best care and attention. It’s what they’re known for in the sport…being real horse people.
Elizabeth G.
What a joyful picture of you and Tasty. What better represents the thrill of life than you and your friend!
Sharon Call, Atlanta, GA
Oh, Z, you and TT just make me smile. I’m glad clear through to the bone that you are where you are. The LE folks take such very good care of you and will take the same kind of care of your baby as well.
@ALL. Any news about Terry Crow? I sure miss his posts.

Not surprised that you’re in front! Lovely photo, and makes me happy to see you and your friend so happy and joyful! I love watching my own horses run around.

This photo takes my breath away — you both look so gorgeous and in a beautiful setting. Again, the flagged tail.

@signofthetimes–thanks for the link about the X-factor. I love that our Appendix QH grandhorse has most all those famous ones in his pedigree. I once asked a trainer in Lexington about the X-factor, and he replied something to the effect, “When we speak of ‘large heart’, we’re talking about the horse’s spirit and will to run”. Unvelievable! I have a link to another article about it that I will post if I can find it.
Dearest Z–if there is anything better than a picture of you running, it is a picture of you running with your BFF Tasty. I hope you two will always get to be friends.
