Happy Friday to All!
MY JOHN did get some great images of TASTY and I while he was here visiting several days ago. I hope you enjoy them. He wanted to get a variety of photos…so you could share in the many activities which make up our day here at Lane’s End.
Basically, we eat, sleep, play, get tons of attention and grooming, and LOVE TO RUN! I guess one never gets too far from his / her roots…and ours, being that we are thoroughbred race horses, means we are bred to run. I must say…we have great FUN doing so!
HMMMM…..I hope our ‘babies to be’ inherit the passion we have for exercise, training, and running! HOOVES CROSSED! I know one thing for sure, both TASTY and I will set a very positive example and role model for our foals.
On the racing front, there are several very competitive stakes taking place this weekend. At DELTA DOWNS, the races at this venue highlight the action. With the graded stakes earnings from one singular race for 2 year olds, The Delta Jackpot which has a purse of $1,000,000, the winner and possibly the 2nd horse will earn enough graded stakes money to qualify for the 2012 Kentucky Derby field. So for this reason alone, this Grade 3 event becomes quite significant and one to follow. It has definite ramifications for next year’s 3 year old DERBY contenders and the graded stakes money one needs to ultimately qualify for the field.
I must say, our business is one of always looking ahead and thinking about the future! That is truly something that adds to the FUN and EXCITEMENT OF OUR SPORT!
Good Luck to all runners this weekend and their connections.
May ALL of you have a wonderful time as well.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@signofthetimes – Thanks for the story on Rapid Redux, I have wondered about the hoopla, as they tried to “make it as easy” as they could for him, but he’s performed well, anyway.

@Vicki B
No one has mentioned him matching Citations record of 19 wins in a year yet. Of course not on the same level, but a feat in itself
for both horse, trainer and owner. The horses are coming after him now, too.
GOOD LUCK RAPID REDUX !!!!

Thanks for the update on LBT. What a talented mare with some handicaps that have not affected her work.
She is all TB heart. Only one second to Tamarind Hall is awesome. So glad she was honored with an award.

Zenyatta – It’s very late on Sunday after an incredible rainstorm and I’m tired but couldn’t give up a quick check on your website to try and catch up with all the news. The carousel ladies – TOO FUN….I will make it up there soon.
@Kennedy’s – All of us in So. Cal ( Stephanie in San Diego – I’m in Carlsbad area (used to be in Carmel Valley-5 min from the track) I’m for somehow getting together to celebrate a shared love and thrill in experiencing the world of horseracing. It turned out to be a nice party. I somehow missed your Halloween dinner party invitation!!! Mine and yours must havecrossed in the mail. I recommend “Claire’s on Cedros” to any who are visiting or live near or around Solana Beach. I used some items off her catering menu that got “rave” reviews. And I have some carrots for you Z girl ( if only I could send them to you) This particular event was some former work friends, neighbors and my sister and niece. My one dear friend Judy shares my love of Zenyatta and indulges me in all things “horsie” She has been my partner in crime trekking around some of the USA in my pursuit of seeing some beautiful horse farms in Ky, Mine that Bird in NM on his special day at Ruidoso., and other adventures. I hope to get to Barn 55. I love how Zenyatta’s site helps us make new friends and hopefully meet in person someday. For sure this summer at Del Mar! I will take more time to try to catch up on the posts to see what is up with everyone. To all a wonderful Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for. I read that Autumn is out of intensive care and home. What a little fighter. Good news. To all battling health issues, please know you are in our thoughts.
@Terry, you were a wonderful friend and take comfort in knowing we are thinking of you at this sorrowful time.

Good luck Rapid Redux!

@Delrene from Carlsbad–thanks for the interesting post. We’ve made a few “horsey” trips too, but not enough.
@JAG–let’s make a pact NOT to introduce your friend Mary Meek to our Diana S–don’t even want to think about it. Not enough bail money here for two–lol!

Here’s to hoping your beautiful foal will be as lovely and talented as you are!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
I have looked at this picture a zillion times, and I just can’t see how something that thick could be Zenny’s tail. I’ve admitted to bring a complete novice about horses, and I know the view is partially obstructed by TT, but I just don’t get it. I’ve even had other people look, and nobody thinks it looks like a tail. What am I missing here? Please help. It is a great shot nonetheless. Hope you are still enjoying some decent weather, Zenny. It’s much colder here. Spending the Fay on jury duty. Thank goodness fort iPod and WiFi . Love from your Ohio friend, Sandy
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Ha – typing on an iPod is not easy. Of course I meant spending the DAY on jury duty
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
@Sandy in NE OH, there is some object in the background that is sticking up. It’s the same color as her tail and is right behind her tail in the picture. It looks like part of a piece of farm equipment parked next to the paddock fence. If you zoom in on the picture it is easy to differentiate her tail from the object.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@those keeping up with little Autumn, I just read that she is home for 2 days at Hope for Horses. She spiked a fever a few days ago, and they were afraid they might have to do surgery, but then later that day, it was ok.Anyone else interested can follow her story on http://www.horseandman.com under the November bucket list.
Dawn Conrad / Colorado
Dear Zenyatta. We all agree with your dear John, you are just TOO CUTE!! What a wonderful relationship you two share. I know you talk over everything and truly care about how your John feels. John is a very special “horse whisperer”, but what is really remarkable is that you whisper back! Wow, Zenny, that was a lot of rain for California. So glad they looked after everyone’s safety and stopped the races. Glad it has cleared up for the Autumn Festival. GO, RR, GO!!! Wishing this trooper a successful record breaking effort. Sweet dreams my love. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@Terry Crow – Welcome back!!! So happy to see your post today, you were missed! My heart goes out to you on the loss of your wonderful friend, Don. It was great to read his favorite joke again; laughter is a tonic for the soul.
@Sally B – Glad you enjoyed the Claiborne video library. Weren’t there some great videos and photos to explore once you get on the site? Some real historic information. On your question about Secretariat. Penny Chenery contacted Seth Hancock to help in the syndication of Secretariat in 1973. It is my understanding that there were 32 breeding shares offered in Secretariat, each selling for $190,000.00. Penny Chenery kept 4 shares, Claiborne received 1 share and 27 additional shares were offered for the total of six million. The reason I say Claiborne received 1 share is that I am not sure if they actually had to purchase the share or received it as part of the agreement for Seth handling the syndication.
@Delrene in Carlsbad – It was just on Friday’s diary #381. When you click on the link, the first video will be about Swale, but be sure to check out the other videos and also the history tab for some great historical info. Claiborne has been in existence for 100 years, so there is a lot of wonderful info.
@Barbara Wood – Thank you for keeping us up to date on our little Autumn sweetheart!! I am also saying prayers for DynaKing/Gifted.
@Judy and Russ – Wishing you both blessings!!!
@Cynthia H. – My goodness, do we have a lot in common! I love, love, love Pride and Prejudice and Mr. Darcy. I watch both Colin Firth and Mathew Macfadyen and swoon on both portrayals. I have many BBC movies and series in my collection including every Jane Austin story. I also have all of her novels, they are just wonderful!
@JAG and all of the others who ran a participated in the Dumpling Carousel Cup. How fun!!!! I enjoyed hearing all about it.
@Shari – Loved talking to you this weekend. You are an amazing friend! So glad you got a chance to post the latest from Peppermint Pal. I enjoy all of the videos and stories.
@Doreen in CT – Enjoyed the pedigree info you shared.
@Kari – Sending my love!!!!
Donna from Baltimore
The tail up in the air is like a flag saying “I’m having SO MUCH FUN!!!!’

Zenyatta, as always, a great picture of you and Tasty. You guys do love to graze, play, eat, sleep and run, which makes you guys normal horses. Your foals, no doubt, will be exactly the same way. You really live the life that many horses and most people can only dream about. I will try to catch races when possible but, as I have said, I will have a busy weekend Friday and Saturday and therefore, will catch races on those days when I can. They will be exciting, no doubt.

@signofthetimes – You’re welcome – Lisa’s Booby Trap is a living example of how you can overcome obstacles and come out a winner.
@Yvonne and Maurice – unfortunately Ghost Gunner had to be euthanized according to this link: http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Jose%20Lezcano
A blog said that he had fractured his left front seismoid. Rest in peace beautiful boy – gone too soon.
@Dawn Conrad/Colorado – I’m glad you enjoyed the info, as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I love researching pedigrees.
