Happy Friday to All!
MY JOHN did get some great images of TASTY and I while he was here visiting several days ago. I hope you enjoy them. He wanted to get a variety of photos…so you could share in the many activities which make up our day here at Lane’s End.
Basically, we eat, sleep, play, get tons of attention and grooming, and LOVE TO RUN! I guess one never gets too far from his / her roots…and ours, being that we are thoroughbred race horses, means we are bred to run. I must say…we have great FUN doing so!
HMMMM…..I hope our ‘babies to be’ inherit the passion we have for exercise, training, and running! HOOVES CROSSED! I know one thing for sure, both TASTY and I will set a very positive example and role model for our foals.
On the racing front, there are several very competitive stakes taking place this weekend. At DELTA DOWNS, the races at this venue highlight the action. With the graded stakes earnings from one singular race for 2 year olds, The Delta Jackpot which has a purse of $1,000,000, the winner and possibly the 2nd horse will earn enough graded stakes money to qualify for the 2012 Kentucky Derby field. So for this reason alone, this Grade 3 event becomes quite significant and one to follow. It has definite ramifications for next year’s 3 year old DERBY contenders and the graded stakes money one needs to ultimately qualify for the field.
I must say, our business is one of always looking ahead and thinking about the future! That is truly something that adds to the FUN and EXCITEMENT OF OUR SPORT!
Good Luck to all runners this weekend and their connections.
May ALL of you have a wonderful time as well.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Valeria(Illionois) – I will sincerely send my prayers for the courageous Gifted/Dyna King to recover from his laminitis bout. The Hearts of Tucson people have done a remarkable job with him so far and I hope they can help him through this as well. Please keep us informed. He is such a kind and gentle soul.

Hey all, just a reminder on how to preserve your sanity this gift buying season, u can always make a donation to your (or Zenyatta’s) favorite charities in the name of the recipient, online or by phn from the comfort of your own armchair. Most charities will send you (or recipient direct) a card of some sort letting them know you have donated in their honor. I am letting everyone I know that I really would prefer they do same for me, I sure don’t need more ‘stuff’. I usually give the card with a nice candy bar, or some good coffee/tea. If anyone remembers the diary # way back, when Z posted names of her fav charities, would you post for us. Thanks. and thanks to Linda M, whose post reminded me to post this. Happy Thanks Giving all. I am so thankful Team Z continue to share their beautiful horse with the world, and inspire us to be better people.

@J Smith & JAG, et al – I sure wish I could have joined you Saturday morning at the Carousel. J Smith left me a voicemail about it on Friday night, but it was too late to change my plans and be able to go – darn! Sounds like you had a great time and would love to see the pictures!

@JSmith–I’m with you. I can buy more”stuff” for me anytime. For years I have asked family to give donations for me rather than presents.
@All: Also, don’t forget Mike Smith’s $1/day charities starting Dec. 1. That’s a really painless way to give, and it adds up with many participating.

@Trina Nagele – Thanks for ‘liking’ Drosselemeyer.
@JAG – Your post is hilarious! LOL

Beautiful Zenyatta, Dottie and Your Team, thank you for all you do and for posting the absolutely wonderful pictures by Z’s John! I love them. Your portrait is truly a heart stopper! You are really that magical.
@Kari: I’ve been so relieved and joyful to see you posting and love hearing from you.
@Terry C: If I could carry the pain of your loss away, far away from your heart, I would do that. Please accept this big virtual sympathy hug.
@ Shari V: Your stories always are interesting and we love hearing about your class.
@ Susan from TN: You make me smile! BTW did you get to meet Z’s John at the party?
@ all who shared links and photos: Thanks so much for keeping us connected in this way!
@ All the Z-sters, Z Dumplings, fans and lurkers, if you need friendship, you are in the right place. If you need prayers, they are said from the heart. If you need blessings, the Irish in me sends them to you.
At this Thanksgiving season, know that each of you makes me very grateful. To all at EANDO that are helping to rescue horses, this is a special gift and opportunity for each of us. To those that can help rescue groups in this time of economic shortfall, please contribute and assist them with their missions to save all the pretty horses. We have some very special EANDO who have fronted finances to make sure that our pretty horses were saved. If you can help them, please do.
To a special loved and dear friend, know that I will help so willingly if you will let me.
Lil from Ky
Zen, Alas, I have mixed feelings tonight. I am packing and preparing for my move, but I am telling myself, if Zen can move & make a happy life for herself, then so can I!! Zen, you & Dottie are my inspiration, I want you to know that. I love you, sweet girl, goodnight.
Dani
Zenny – your John really is a great photographer. I like this one in particular. You and Tasty are both so beautiful and look like you are having such a good time.
J. Smith – love your idea on the giving to charity instead of ‘stuff’. Great idea.
Kennedys – thanks for the walk down memory lane with Zen and her bowing to the adoring crowd.
Shari Voltz – love the Pepperment Pal video.
Judy Maass Goodman – love ‘the story’ of your adventure at the carousel.
To everyone who posts here, even though I don’t very often, I really enjoy reading all of your comments. You are all funny, entertaining, informative, thoughtful, giving and have big hearts. What a wonderful group of people.
Abigail from Montreal
Hello again my sweet Zenny, Dottie & Zensters:
It’s been a BUSY weekend here “chez Abigail” so I’m only just tuning in to read everyone’s messages & check weekend racing. I must say that I was IMPRESSED by SANAGAS’ win in the Hollywood Gold Cup. He’s a turf horse, bred in Germany & then moved to the USA after a few races, to train with Michael Matz (trainer of Barbaro). He’s a descendant of Nijinsky on top (sire) and of Try My Best (another Northern Dancer) on the bottom (dam). WHAT AN IMPRESSIVE WIN!

BOY! It’s tough to keep up on the weekends with ALL OF YOU — I FEEL AS THOUGH I COULD WRITE AN ESSAY OF RESPONSES!!
@ Linda M: The orny is TOO CUTE!
@ Barbara Wood — thanks for the links!!!
@ Terry Crow: My heart goes out to you at the loss of your friend, Don. Dear Diana S. shared your sad news with us. I send you my most sincere condolences.
@ Kari: Prayers for Vols, my cyber sister
@ sign: BEAUTIFUL post about the music of the maternal hoofbeats — a TOTAL WOW! And I LOVED the white blur of Hansen post. Thank you!
@ Heidi from Vallejo, CA : BIRTH-DAY GREETINGS!
@ JAG: WOW! Love your posts. Thank you!
@ the Kennedys: These Zenny & Mario stories are SO PRECIOUS to me! Thank you for them & keep ’em coming!
LOVE TO ALL
Cynthia H./Where Zenyatta Danced
@Kari and others: I totally agree, it would be super to see some of John Shirreffs’ exquisite photographs offered in Zenyatta’s shop, in any form. It is too late now, but perhaps a calendar of some great Zenyatta photos for 2013? It would be a marvelous seller, no doubt.

@Trina Nagele: Thank you for your words so sweet; at Santa Anita I hope we will meet. I have forgotten to ask if you ever managed to find Kinscem.
@Dawn Conrad: I hope that you had a fun weekend. I was especially happy to see Basmati finish second in the Delta Jackpot. I have loved him from the get-go, for some reason. It is rainy and cold in L.A. today, at which times I retreat to the world of Jane Austen and the BBC’s elegant production of “Pride and Prejudice.” Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth)…words fail me. Thank you very much for the link to the beautiful Barbra Streisand song. Every word rings true, and crystal clear as tears. Love to you.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@Dani–are you the same Dani from Washington, D.C. who used to post on Bloodhorse blogs? If so, I remember reading yours there. Welcome here, in either case.
@Lil in KY–best of luck with your move. What an exhausting job.

@Terry Crow – my heartfelt condolences to you for the loss of your beloved friend.
@Heidi – Happy Birthday!
@Trina – another fabulous poem.
