Good Morning,
All of you are SO SWEET! Thank you for the kind comments regarding the photo yesterday. I’ll try to address some of the questions many of you asked here.
Firstly, MY TAIL is fine. I never had a lush tail. It was MY DEAR MARIO who worked so hard to keep it looking terrific. Here at Lane’s End, MATT helps ME with it as well. In yesterday’s photo, the wind was blowing and it was partially hidden. It is just fine…and NO, TASTY does not touch it. WE both always want to look our best…and having a nice tail is part of the LOOK! We respect this with each other.
Many of you asked about the SIZE difference between the two of us. I am a pretty tall girl, as you know, I’m right at 17 hands in height. In yesterday’s photo, I have my head held very high while I’m cuddled up to MY JOHN. (He is 6′ 2″.) I’m also in the front portion of the photo and TASTY is standing more in the background. She is a very well-built horse as well, and per MY JOHN, she is about 16.2 hands. She just appears smaller in this photo due to the fact that she is ‘peeking in at us’ while she poses and not standing as tall as she normally would. I really think it is a very cute picture and shows how sweet we are with each other. I enjoyed sharing MY JOHN with her!
You know photography…sometimes if you are the one in the front…you appear a bit ‘larger’ than the images, horses, or people in the back. I am taller than TASTY but not by as much as it appears in this particular photo. She is a very attractive and well-balanced horse in her own right.
Yes, MY JOHN did check my legs. I have figured it out now that he simply can’t resist the opportunity to do so when he is around ME. In reality, it is second nature to him… and I must say…I really enjoy it! It reminds me of the many special moments I spent with him. Now, though, it is TOO CUTE! He has added a new dimension to this ‘checking up on ME’…and that is touching my BABY BUMP! He gives ME (and BABY TOO) several adoring and loving ‘pats’ on the TUMMY!
What do you think JOHN….is MY FOAL a colt or a filly? Only time will tell!
It is so hard to believe that the time is flying by so quickly. My due date is in early March. TASTY and I are both due to foal then. It will be interesting to see how much ‘we grow’ during the next few months!
I’ll keep you posted!
Have a great day!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

You and TT have a wonderful night all snuggly in your stable. We had a beautiful day in Ca with clear blue sky and lots of sunshine. A snip of fall in the air too.

@Barbara Grimaldi: YES! Zendini is my choice for baby Z, also!
@Susan in TN: Lovely story of Choctaw as your guardian (Angel)! Our fellow animals seem to know these things instinctively. I wish our human cousins were as perceptive.
@Kari Bussell: Hooray! So incredibly happy to hear from you. Please know that you have an entire Army of Well Wishers!
Bless your sweet heart AND soul!

Hi Zenny, I really like this picture of you grazeing. The picture is nice and big and we can see a full size you close up. I think that you look terrific, of course leave it to you to look completely terrific in a meaningfull pregnant state. I enjoy all the pictures of you and especially the ones that John takes. He loves you so much and now he and Dottie are going to be Grandpa and Grandma to your baby foal. You are so blessed to have so many people in your life who care so much about you. We, the fans can all be Aunts and Uncles to your foal. This all makes it very interesting and exciting for all of us. Now we are all one big Zenyatta Family. TOO CUTE I say! Hope you and Tasty are enjoying what looks like nice weather there right now. Tasty is also beautiful and I hope that the two of you get to share the same Paddock after you each have your foals. Sending you much love Zenyatta until your next post.
Marshall (old girl in NC)

To Kimberly Potter and Trina Nagele: Thanks for missing me! I hope my computer is about sorted out — have had a new server installed. Still have a few wrinkles to smooth out. Great to be able to read your posts and to post again. I have quite a bit to catch up on! Hugs!!

You look FABULOUS, darhling!

@Kari – Dear, wonderful Kari, there are tears in my eyes as I write this. Our prayers have been answered!! Your beautiful spirit has come back to us. Faith, family and friends can raise us up on the wings of love and allow our soul to soar. Hope renews with every breath we take and joy returns after the sorrow. You have been in my heart and in my prayers always. The Martina McBride song is an anthem to all of us who have experienced cancer in ourselves or our loved ones. How uplifting the words sung are and how fitting for the tragedys that test us in life! The first time I heard it, I had to run out and get the CD. “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” is not just a song title, it is that which many of us have experienced and here in this place it is a reality for us all. Welcome back!! Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. All my love, Dawn

So glad your computer is up and running. Such a drag to have it
be on the “fritz”.
@Terry Crow
How are you??? Is your computer healthy??? Waiting for those jokes. You had us spoiled for our daily laugh.

@Karen and Cynthia – Two very special hearts beating in unison for she who was in need, your Kari. The prayers have been heard, what a blessing has been granted!
@Marshall – How wonderful to have you back!! Those computers can certainly be a blessing when they run and a curse when they crash. Have fun getting caught up, there has been a lot happening.
@Kari – Just watched the video of Bonnie Blue and Clydie. How adorable they are! Our furry friends give such us such amazing love, I so miss those who are no longer with me and I don’t know what I would do without my Bindi and Sassy here with me now. They are there for me always in sickness and in health. It was wonderful to see your Zenny right there too. Isn’t she beautiful. I pat my #19 often and wish Zenyatta love.
JAG – Thank you for the link to Gio Ponti, what a special horse!
GOOD NIGHT TO ALL, MAY YOUR DREAMS BE SWEET AND YOUR SLUMBERS BLISSFUL.
Katie M.
Looking so great Z! Thanks for the answers to so many questions, I have a few more for you if your so inclined. :o)
I was reading an older article the other day that was talking about your mother and how she was an Alpha-type horse. Would you say your an Alpha type, or are you more laid back? Also, in an article last year when you first started your Mommy Career, your Lane’s End family said how they wanted you in a bigger field with more mares (and not wanting any of them to be too dominant – makes sense, we don’t want any squabbles with the girls). But now you are back down to one paddock girlfriend, is there a reason for this other then just you two being compatible and on the same pregnancy timeline?
Again thanks so much for letting us stay up to date with you! I can’t tell you how much it means to me and so many of us. XOXOXO
Michele M.
Zenyatta, you’re looking great! I know everyone cannot wait for your foal to enter this world. One of the reasons I got into horse racing is because of you, thank you so much. I’m new to horse racing and proper breeding etiquette, so I don’t know if there is an “old Broodmare’s tale” about naming foals before they’re born but my BFF and I were thinking of names for your foal, you’ve probably heard part of it already but here it goes: “Zendini Magic” yes a combination of your name and Bernadini, sounds like a magician, and it will be like magic watching your offspring run! Gosh, I can’t wait…

Dearest Zenny—Sleep tight till the morning light.
@Patricia from Lake Tahoe (re #377)—Thank you so much for sharing the touching story of your beloved and very special mare, your brown- eyed Susan. It is very moving to read how she literally stood by you when you had broken your ankle, and how she grieved even to death when her pasture mate of twenty years passed. May she rest in peace.
@Kari—Thrilled to see you posting again. Thank you for the Martina McBride “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” link—very beautiful. I adored seeing your Bonnie and Clyde, too—-thanks so much for linking to your video of them! I missed it before.
@JAG and Alex Bowdoin— I’ve loved wolves since I was a child and Dad read us the stories of “Kazan” and “Baree, Son of Kazan” by James Oliver Curwood, the novelist and conservationist from my native state of Michigan.
@Nancy—Very interesting comment about horses and their tails!
@Laura J—Thanks for the info on TT and on horses and their tails!
@Margaret—Thanks for writing about the writer of “Dances with Wolves” and his rescue of a horse that Jason Meduna starved. What was the outcome of Meduna’s request for parole?
@Joanna from TX—Very interesting about TT being a half-sister to Rachel!
@Diana S—Thanks for posting about the opportunity to help the Heart of Tucson horse rescue. I voted! Also congratulations on your horse!
@Barbara Grimaldi—I LOVE the name Zendini!
@Dawn Conrad—Thank you for the story of the special trust and bond you had with your mare Cinder-—very touching. I’m glad if you’re feeling better.
@Ensign—Thanks for your post.
@All who commented on Part One of the poem for Reckless—thank you for your encouragement. Part Two is in progress.

Good morning Zenny, I was out of the house and busy all day yesterday so this is the first chance I’ve had to see that gorgeous photo of you taken by John, he could always take up equine photography if he wanted a second career. And to YOU/Dottie, thank you for answering the questions about Tasty, I’ve been curious for quite some time about how tall she is. It could be a busy time in the foaling barn if both you and Tasty go into labor at the same time but I expect Lane’s End is used to that.
I have another busy day today, plus I have Vic off school and in bed with a throat infection so I hope to catch up with you later. Have a restful day grazing with Tasty. I wish that I could pat your tummy, it’s looking delightfully plump.
Brenda S..Ontario, Canada
@ Dear Kari – I went straight to posting, could catch up on posts later until I caught sight of your name. The relief I felt to see you posting again was overwhelming, I am so happy to see that you are back with us. Loved the video of your dogs, Clyde seems to love Zenny just as much as we do and I have always liked your choice of music, my kind of tunes. Thanks to all the prayers and candles. Many hugs and much love to you Kari.

@ Abigail – On the topic of horoscopes, I’m an Aquarian, Feb. 9, and Vic tells me I’m a “control freak”. I guess that’s the opinion of a teenager but I like your description of a “firm (grand)parent” better. I have no idea what is ascending but some days I feel that I’m descending!!!

Have a wonderful day, lovely girl

Hey, gang this is Terry Crow. I am using another person’s computer. @Kari Bussell-Wonderful to see you posting. I will be back on a regular basis soon. You might be a redneck if a pillow has ever moved out from under your head on its own.
