Good Morning,
All of you are SO SWEET! Thank you for the kind comments regarding the photo yesterday. I’ll try to address some of the questions many of you asked here.
Firstly, MY TAIL is fine. I never had a lush tail. It was MY DEAR MARIO who worked so hard to keep it looking terrific. Here at Lane’s End, MATT helps ME with it as well. In yesterday’s photo, the wind was blowing and it was partially hidden. It is just fine…and NO, TASTY does not touch it. WE both always want to look our best…and having a nice tail is part of the LOOK! We respect this with each other.
Many of you asked about the SIZE difference between the two of us. I am a pretty tall girl, as you know, I’m right at 17 hands in height. In yesterday’s photo, I have my head held very high while I’m cuddled up to MY JOHN. (He is 6′ 2″.) I’m also in the front portion of the photo and TASTY is standing more in the background. She is a very well-built horse as well, and per MY JOHN, she is about 16.2 hands. She just appears smaller in this photo due to the fact that she is ‘peeking in at us’ while she poses and not standing as tall as she normally would. I really think it is a very cute picture and shows how sweet we are with each other. I enjoyed sharing MY JOHN with her!
You know photography…sometimes if you are the one in the front…you appear a bit ‘larger’ than the images, horses, or people in the back. I am taller than TASTY but not by as much as it appears in this particular photo. She is a very attractive and well-balanced horse in her own right.
Yes, MY JOHN did check my legs. I have figured it out now that he simply can’t resist the opportunity to do so when he is around ME. In reality, it is second nature to him… and I must say…I really enjoy it! It reminds me of the many special moments I spent with him. Now, though, it is TOO CUTE! He has added a new dimension to this ‘checking up on ME’…and that is touching my BABY BUMP! He gives ME (and BABY TOO) several adoring and loving ‘pats’ on the TUMMY!
What do you think JOHN….is MY FOAL a colt or a filly? Only time will tell!
It is so hard to believe that the time is flying by so quickly. My due date is in early March. TASTY and I are both due to foal then. It will be interesting to see how much ‘we grow’ during the next few months!
I’ll keep you posted!
Have a great day!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

John checking Zenyatta’s legs reminds me of my Dad always checking the tires on my car. My friends would come over & he would check their tires before he would let me go with them. Even today he still checks the tires on my car. My husband thinks its funny.

Beautiful Zenyatta, Dottie, Dumplings, Z- sters, and fans:
I posted on yesterday’s diary and reposting here since this came up while I was posting. I promised to keep the next post short.
So, I want Trina to picture me sitting quietly, so as to not wake McDude up.(He is fine BTW. Snoozing and waiting to take me to the P O.) I’m waving my hands in the air as people with a hearing impairment do for applauding something really great. That was for your Reckless poem!
Susan in TN: Wonderful story about Choctaw. When you have some free time :) you could gather your stories about the boys and Choctaw and you probably have some others into a book of short stories! It would be very special!
Patricia: Thanks for sharing your beautiful, sweet story. I am so sorry you had to give up two special friends so close together. It’s never easy and always worth the cost of grief to have had the joy.
Zenyatt, Beautiful Soul, I love your gift shop and I’m saving to get a treat!
All: Thanks for the welcome back! I loved all your comments, and not just the ones of welcome. Z hugs to all!

Good Morning Adorable Mommy To Be! You look so very pregnant :-P
~~~~~
Thank you for answering our inquisitive minds LOL
~~~~~
I watched Dances With Wolves (again) last night. The wolf in the movie is called Two Socks. I thought of YOU because your hind legs have “two socks” ~ TOO CUTE! I think wolves are Majestic Creatures ~ just like horses! :-)
~~~~~
I think we need an International Baby Shower for YOU, Zen! I’m partial to a boy, but like any Aunt, I just hope your foal is born healthy.
Pssst MARCH 9th would be a great day to deliver a future “Prince”(wink wink)
~~~~~
Wishing you a glorious Tuesday, My Queen! {{{HUGS}} and kisses to YOU and Baby Prince/Princess B/Z XOXOXO

Good morning Zen. I’m guessing your having a colt… You and Dottie should take a pole.
JAG Adores Zenny & John Henry / So. CA
p.s. I forgot to add: I was wondering if YOUR JOHN still felt your legs ~ you must have esp, Zenny! He does! :-)))
Nancy
My trainer insists that the fastest horses have shorter tails and that a long, lush tail is a sign of a slow horses. My two best horse friends, a Paint and a Pony of the Americas, have glorious long, two-toned tails. They don’t exactly win money at the race track!

I love to read your updates every day. Glad to see you’re doing well and enjoying the peaceful life. You and Tasty will both make wonderful Mommies!!!
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
@Cindy Curran, Tasty Temptation visited Candy Ride the same day Zenyatta had her second date with Bernardini. Candy Ride stands at Lane’s End, so she didn’t have to go far.

@Nancy, LOL–except there’s always the great Whirlaway. He was known as Mr. Long-tail. BTW, Zenny’s Dear John has a filly in his barn named Wonderful Town. You can see her in someof his YouTube videos. She has a beautiful, long, thick tail.

Dottie and Zenny – this post is just so wonderful. John is TOO CUTE the way he looks after you – it’s cool that he lightly pats your BABY BUMP. Anyway, stay warm and happy.

Zennyatta, Can we say three and a half months more to go, instead of four months? The wait sounds much shorter that way somehow.
Delrene from Carlsbad - (California)
Dear Zenyatta – Hope your day is glorious. The picture sure is a great way to start our day. Wouldn’t miss a day of checking your post. Thanks to all for the great comments. It’s fun to read first thing in the a.m. with my cats all sitting around the computer. I love seeing some new posters. You have a world-wide group of friends who love you.
Your John, Dottie and all those set such a high standard for others to follow. I hope they all try. We want all animals well-cared for because you all deserve it.
Bye for now Mama to be.

Oh my! I have a name for Tasty Temptation’s baby by Candy Ride: TASTY CANDY, CANDY TEMPTATION or CANDY IS TASTY (wink wink)

Dear Zenyatta another Beautiful picture of you. Today I introduced the horse to the children. Well I mean we are reading about when the Spanish introduce the horse to the Indians (1500). We were into some horsey talks this morning. The children were asking some really Great questions. We even got into some of the breeds. Well sweet girl Lunch is almost over. All I know is I am so glad God created the horse and gave us YOU. You are so Special sweet Zenyatta. I love you bunches. Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO
@ DMCQ glad to read your post.
@ Hi sweet Dawn I hope your feeling better :)
@ Hi Susan :)

@Nancy, your post made me chuckle.
Zenny, just another amazing photo of you taken by John. He must be thrilled to see you happy and healthy. That angel he always had on your browband when you raced is now permanently afixed on your magnificient shoulder. How wonderful it is to know you enjoy life at LE. Your Mario always had you looking every inch a Queen, even your tail. :-)

@ JAG Adores Zenny & John Henry / So. CA,
I am so glad you mentioned “Two Socks”. I cried so hard in that movie!! I am a member of “Defenders of Wildlife” and I have been on a mission to save the wolf…
I am so afraid there will be none left in Yellowstone or anywhere else if these hunters keep going up in planes and killing them..It is very sad what is happening to them!! They are magnificent creatures!!
Allen
Z, you look great! Has Mario been to see you latley? Queen Z I hope you and Tasty have a great afternoon.
Sarah in San Diego
Hi Zennyatta!
I am so excited to be following along. I hope you have the baby on my birthday March 8th… or on my horses birthday March 3rd. He used to race too — not as brilliantly as you — but pretty well. He’s now a super jumper in CA… Sprout says Hi!!! (he’s jealous of your pasture LOL)
tony and sue
Zenny, you sure look gorgeous in this photo. Yes, we know you love to graze and seeing you with all that pasture to mow makes us feel good! High hoof to you and your BF, TT.
Is it March yet?
Cheryl Smith
You look so good! Thanks for all the great pictures. I am so glad that you have a good friend to be with you. Hope for great health and happines to you and to Tasty as well. Hope you can give us a hint soon…………colt or filly……

Oh! what a lovely picture. You look so beautiful as usual. I love you! Hug and kisses to you and Tasty!

Z I’ve predicted the date to be Mar 17th. I’ll stay with the date. And we will see. You just have a happy healthy baby and we’ll be sure to be in love whenever he/she is ready to make their appearance.
I think Tasty is SO PRETTY. She really reminds me of Devil Badgett who was a rescue out here in CA. He is safe now, he now lives in TX. He is much adored by his human. I met Badge and fell in live before Jenn took him home forever. He crunched my head into my neck. But before you say bad boy–when I said OW and explained about my car accident and that maybe this wasn’t so good–he just went to nuzzling me. Come to think of it I think he was telling me–lady you have a screwed up neck. A year later I found out that I have arthritis from C1-C7. So Badge was just trying to tell me to get my neck checked. He too is a dapple gray. One look and you literally fall in love.
I think of you often. And wondered about the baby. I try to be patient and just not talk about it too much. We have months to go and it’ll just make me crazy. There will be ssssoooo much crazy anticipation next March!
I’m still hoping you film the birth so we can watch post delivery. Of course it will have to be silent cause people have to be free to speak. Maybe have someone come in and narrate it. Perhaps we can download it for a donation to Old Friends or another horse farm. There are a ton of great horse related 501’s out there.
Some of them are currently on pending 501 status–like WildHorseEducation.org.
But this should be a choice made by you and your team. You may just want to have some mommy baby time. It was meant as a suggestion and a thought.
Diana Harris
you look fantastic and TB’s are known for not having the “big” tails. I love you and Tasty both make any photo look fantastic and lets face it 16.2 is a very big horse too. I cant wait to see your babies and watch them play together. thank you for the updates and the wonderful photos.
JAG Adores Zenny & John Henry / So. CA
Oh geez, one more thing to add today! I was listening to the radio here at work and a song by Herb Alpert was playing. The bio included indicated his birthday as March 31st… doo doo doo… you’re b’day is April 1st! You are both Aries! Herb owned A&M records with your daddy Jerry! :-D Another amazing connection to the “fate” written in the stars, Zenny! TOO COOL!!
Trudy Schossler
I have to say you are so beautiful and look so happy eating away on the grass. Love you and am getting so excited on the baby coming. Love again
