Good Morning Everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful and restful weekend. Mine was terrific!
Dottie and I have been reading over your thoughtful comments in the DIARY responses! Thank you so much for the kind words, not just to ME…but to each other.
I totally agree with all of your comments about MY NEW HOME! LANE’S END is an absolutely beautiful farm with huge paddocks and lush surroundings. I am SO HAPPY here! Everyone is incredibly thoughtful of ME. I truly can’t thank them enough for the warmth and kindness shown to ME each day! Needless to say, TASTY and I are 2 very HAPPY HORSES!
I also love the fact that you are enjoying my new ZENYATTA SHOP! There are many more fun things to come in the future. I hope you enjoy them.
Many of you have asked about TASTY and I and if she is ‘protective of ME’. The answer is ABSOLUTELY YES. She is truly a very special and dear friend. She always wants to be sure that I am safe.
From what I can tell from the time I’ve lived at Lane’s End, we seem to have many more visitors to our paddock than the others. We have various writers and photographers here quite a bit, the charity visitors and their families come to see ME, TV crews are here, and then my own dear family frequently comes to Kentucky to see ME and catch up with how I am doing.
TASTY and I do hang out together ALL of the time. When MY JOHN entered the paddock on this particular afternoon, she came right over. She wanted to ‘check him out’. When I take a nap in the field, she normally stands right by ME to be sure I’m A-OK. In turn, I try to do the exact same thing for her. We just want to be sure that each of US has the opportunity to rest, relax, and enjoy our lives the best WE CAN! WE REALLY TRY TO BE THERE FOR EACH OTHER!
Here she is checking out MY JOHN. When he was hugging ME, she wanted to be sure all was terrific. I told her everything was perfect! During MY time at BARN 55, he’d hug ME like this every single day for 5 years. I explained to TASTY that MY JOHN is truly one of US….a dear, dear friend! He then hugged HER too….and she knew this was so true!
Happy Monday! I’m sharing a BIG HUG with all of you, too!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Peggy(N) in South GA, John Henry’s grave is located at the end of the walkway that leads to the Hall of Champions (the stalls) and the round pavilion where they do the shows. It is surmounted by a bronze statue. John Henry’s grave is right across from Alysheba’s, which has a statue by the same artist. Some artifacts (pictures, his halter, etc.) are displayed in the lobby of the museum.

If you scroll over the little “i” in the circle, you will see her accomplishments. There is also a picture from her racing days.

@Patricia ( from Lake Tahoe): Hi Patricia ( from Lake Tahoe): I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Susan. And to lose 2 horses so close together—heartbreaking.
Yvonne and Maurice
Hi Zenyatta. What a beautiful picture of you and TT and John. Wow, what a wonderful life. Your picture and comments are making me cry with happiness. Love you and Dottie and John for sharing with us. You and TT are so perfect together. You are both glowing. Can’t wait to see baby pics of you and TT. Will you and TT and babies all be in the same pasture? Stay comfy, both of you eat well and have a wonderful time grazing in your beautiful pasture. Love you, Angel.

@Patricia (Lake Tahoe)…your story is both heartwarming and sad. I am so sorry you lost your wonderful Susan and her pal so close together. We can learn so much from our pets if only we listen.

Last night I saw a trailer for WAR HORSE. It’s to be released on Christmas day and is rated PG13, so it shouldn’t be too rough to watch, right?
I’m loving the warm, fuzzy rememberances of personal horses that have been shared recently. Mine aren’t so gentle, more of the being dumped variety.

Beautiful Zenyatta, Dottie, Dumplings, Z- sters, and fans:
I promised to keep the next post short.
So, I want Trina to picture me sitting quietly, so as to not wake McDude up.(He is fine BTW. Snoozing and waiting to take me to the P O.) I’m waving my hands in the air as people with a hearing impairment do for applauding something really great. That was for your Reckless poem!
Susan in TN: Wonderful story about Choctaw. When you have some free time :) you could gather your stories about the boys and Choctaw and you probably have some others into a book of short stories! It would be very special!
Patricia: Thanks for sharing your beautiful, sweet story. I am so sorry you had to give up two special friends so close together. It’s never easy and always worth the cost of grief to have had the joy.
Zenyatt, Beautiful Soul, I love your gift shop and I’m saving to get a treat!
All: Thanks for the welcome back! I loved all your comments, and not just the ones of welcome. Z hugs to all!

Wonderful photos, Z. Beautiful mamas to be! Love you always.

Zen looks like a draft horse compared to TT in that picture. Both are adorable!

Thanks for the hug, Zenny! Sending one to you and TT!
It’s so sweet that you and TT look after each other. You are getting practice because when your baby arrives, you will want to stand over your baby.
I can understand why your paddock is so busy. That’s because you are the QUEEN and everyone loves you. We can never see or hear enough about you and your life.
Love you! Take care of yourself and say Hi to TT for me.

Z, you look great, and I am SO happy to know you found another BEST FRIEND in Tasty; she seems very loyal. You’re lovable so everyone can’t help loving YOU!!! You don’t happen to see Life is Sweet, do you? ;-) Isn’t she at Lane’s End, too?

Great shot of John with Zenyatta, and with Tasty. Zenyatta is definitely “thickening” up. She looks great and we are all anxiously awaiting her new foal. So glad you share so much of her life with us. We miss her terribly on the race track, but are so thankful she retired healthy and happy.

I was going to post that I think horses can really learn to read and write. After looking on the internet for the IQ of a horse with no avail (altho I did find a horse IQ test), I had to resort to our 1957 Encylopedia which states that a horse “can put ideas together” and can figure things out like how to open the paddock gate & get out:) ie. they’re pretty smart.
HF
I would just like to say how much I respect John Shireffs. The racing industry and many trainers have questionable reputations, yet Mr. Shireffs is truly a class act. He is a true horseman who respects his horses and obviously tries to do well by them. Kudos to Mr. Shirrefs and his team.
What other trainer takes time out of his schedule to visit retirees? Enough said.
Sarah T.
Zen, it still amazes me how massive you are (though perfectly proportioned). You are like the perfect horse, so large and strong and talented. That’s great John still goes to visit you often and you’re having a great life in retirement. I love these updates, don’t miss you quite as much seeing them. Though I’d love to visit again sometime!
Robyn Mullhausen
Just precious photos. Zenny, you are more beautiful than ever and Tasty is quite pretty too. Glad she got to meet “your John” and I am sure he thoroughly enjoyed hugging both of you. :)
