Good Morning Everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful and restful weekend. Mine was terrific!
Dottie and I have been reading over your thoughtful comments in the DIARY responses! Thank you so much for the kind words, not just to ME…but to each other.
I totally agree with all of your comments about MY NEW HOME! LANE’S END is an absolutely beautiful farm with huge paddocks and lush surroundings. I am SO HAPPY here! Everyone is incredibly thoughtful of ME. I truly can’t thank them enough for the warmth and kindness shown to ME each day! Needless to say, TASTY and I are 2 very HAPPY HORSES!
I also love the fact that you are enjoying my new ZENYATTA SHOP! There are many more fun things to come in the future. I hope you enjoy them.
Many of you have asked about TASTY and I and if she is ‘protective of ME’. The answer is ABSOLUTELY YES. She is truly a very special and dear friend. She always wants to be sure that I am safe.
From what I can tell from the time I’ve lived at Lane’s End, we seem to have many more visitors to our paddock than the others. We have various writers and photographers here quite a bit, the charity visitors and their families come to see ME, TV crews are here, and then my own dear family frequently comes to Kentucky to see ME and catch up with how I am doing.
TASTY and I do hang out together ALL of the time. When MY JOHN entered the paddock on this particular afternoon, she came right over. She wanted to ‘check him out’. When I take a nap in the field, she normally stands right by ME to be sure I’m A-OK. In turn, I try to do the exact same thing for her. We just want to be sure that each of US has the opportunity to rest, relax, and enjoy our lives the best WE CAN! WE REALLY TRY TO BE THERE FOR EACH OTHER!
Here she is checking out MY JOHN. When he was hugging ME, she wanted to be sure all was terrific. I told her everything was perfect! During MY time at BARN 55, he’d hug ME like this every single day for 5 years. I explained to TASTY that MY JOHN is truly one of US….a dear, dear friend! He then hugged HER too….and she knew this was so true!
Happy Monday! I’m sharing a BIG HUG with all of you, too!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

When I do get back up there I do want to go to see John Henry’s grave now. Isn’t it just behind his stall. I though that is where the paper said they were going to bury him.

@ ANN MAREE: I just LOVED your slide show! Thanks so much for sharing! HUGS!

Dottie and John thanks so much for these pictures. It gladdens my heart to see John with her. I know she remembers her family and really enjoys seeing you all. She looks healthy and happy. So does TT. TT’s ears are hilarious in this picture. I ordered the signed print and can’t wait to get it framed and hung on the wall. Jaime Corum did a magnificent job. There is no one more beautiful than the Queen.

Zenny, You need to get a special Eclipse Award for the Most Popular – Retired Race Horse!! Also; the most Charity Earnings too. … And girl, you look like you grew another inch! Look at you, posing for the camera ‘click’… You crack me up.
You are magnificient in every way. I sure love you Zenny. If you were not provided the quality care that you ARE getting, I think the Z’strs would be there in a flash, to see to it that you did.
Just love, love, love the beautiful photos. Hugs to ‘ya all.

Dear Zenny
Quite a few posts ago, some fans from this site
recommended the DVD “On the Muscle, about
Trainer Richard Mandella. It was a wonderful DVD
To experience the emotions of the track and the feeling
Of training a race horse. So much different from owning and riding
Your own horse. Somewhat impersonal to maintain discipline
For the horses. Yet the special pats in the special places
That the trainer does means more than spending the day
at the barn. Loved when Pleasantly Perfect was laying down
In his stall and Dick crawled in and promised him 5 days off if he
Won. TOO CUTE. Getting wrapped up in winning and not
Taking things slow can work against the horses. Never thought of
Horses breathing in the dirt from the track until Mike Smith told
Dick that It happened. No wonder the fevers. So very glad YOUR
JOHN has the ability to slow down, think and get it right. Loved seeing
Dottie and the Mosses with Kudos. Amazing that all that goes on on the track. Really liked how he stopped racing Pleasantly Perfect so he would not have a chronic lung condition from bleeding and he
Won the BCC the next year. Just a very wonderful DVD. So glad you are leading the quiet life of a broodmare. Too much time on the
Track is not a good thing. Sweet Dreams. XXXXOOOO

Hi Zenyatta, Thanks to your John for the pictures. You and Tasty are so cute as a team. I am so happy for both of you to be such good friends and you both are expecting your foal about the same time. You have had alot of company recently and I know you do enjoy that. I have alot of Zenyatta shirts , Jackets and Caps so I will shop at your new store soon. I have my sighned copy of the poster of you and Secretariat, Racing Royalty framed and hanging on my wall as you come in my home. I get many compliments on it. I also have my framed picture of you and Mike showing you racing in the 2009 Breeders Cup that I purchased from the V Foundation. I also have many pictures of you from California to Lanes end that I have gathered and I love them all. You seem happy at Lanes End but you were brought up and raced as a California girl and one day I still hope you will be back. That is how I feel but in the meantime I am waiting as all your other fans are for you to have your foal and that will be so exciting. It will be so cute and loving to see you with your first born. I will call you Mama Zen. Stay well my dear Queen Zenyatta and know that I love you dearly. Say Hi to Tasty for me!

@Abigail in Montreal—Thanks for your post and links.
@John Saksa—I very much enjoyed your post on Veterans Day and your thoughts about the charisma of both Seattle Slew and Zenyatta.
@Carolyn Caswell-Brown—So nice to read your post of healing from the loss of your beloved Sheba and sending the thoughts and prayers forward to Autumn and Dyna King.
@Susan in TN—Thank you for the heart-warming story about Choctaw. Like Marty R, I too would like to hear more about this special horse. The following link is for all dog lovers, but especially for you, Susan, because it is about a St. Bernard, rescued from the pound, who then saved his brand-new family from an intruder.

Hi All…
Would like to add my story about horses standing guard… Many moons ago I trailered out to a remote, heavily wooded area to go riding. While unloading my mare, Susan, I tripped and fell out of the back of my trailer, breaking my ankle. I looked up to see Susan running into the forest…head high, tail straight up, dragging her lead rope. I couldn’t get my boot off because my ankle had swollen so badly. The enormity of my situation overwhelmed me. My horse was gone, I was injured, I was alone and had no cell coverage. I put my head down and sobbed. Suddenly, I felt this warm breathing on my neck. Looking up, I saw the most beautiful brown eyes in the world gazing down at me. It is a sight I will never forget. She stood over me while I tried to figure out what to do. Finally, holding on to her leg I was able to get up and together we loaded. My precious girl died a year ago this month. Her pasture buddy of 20 years died in October 2010, and Susan stopped eating that night, she was gone 3 weeks later. She was my Brown Eyed Girl…

Wonderful photos. I’m wondering about Zen’s shorter tail too.
Thanks to Dottie for so cleverly penning or ghostwriting this diary. These diary entries and photos would make a terrific book!
I wonder whether Zen misses her first BFF at Lane’s End — Pirate’s Bounty, I think. Will they be reunited after they both foal? (Not that Tasty isn’t a great companion too.)
I’d love to learn more about Tasty — her full name, pedigree, and background including racing record, if any. Mea culpa if I missed an earlier diary posting about her.
Thanks again and a big hug for Zen!
Eve
I love the picture of you, John and Tasty.

Happiness is a 17.2 hands tall goddess with that pregnant glow about her. Zenny: you are Happiness Personified (Yes, to me Queen Z is a “person”). Your best friend Tasty is a close second!
Love the photos. My Zenyatta file used to be just a file – now it’s a whole cabinet.
@Ann Maree: Your slides show took me with you to Kentucky. Thanks!
@John: If only TBs could be under your care and tutelage, how lucky they would be.
@Dottie and Team Z and Everyone here: This is the most wonderful spot on the internet.
Love it, love it, love it!!!!!
Jenna
My heart is aflutter with these photographs. Their connection is just so sweet. Forever and ever.
Thank you, Dottie!
