Good Morning,
There is always so much going on in our industry! That is what makes it such a fascinating sport! On Sunday evening, Fasig Tipton had their select sale. Horses of quality…both in race record and pedigree sold extremely well.
Then on Monday, the Keeneland November Sale began. The first 2 days have been amazing. If you want to review all of the prices and horses sold, please go to KEENELAND website. Click on SALES….and then the heading for CURRENT SALE. You will be able to see the results. They are also showing the sale as it is taking place live, if you’d like to see that as well. It is all quite interesting.
On a personal note, the TOO CUTE part of the last few days is that MY JOHN got to see 2 of my family members at different stages of their development. In the above photo, my yearling 1/2 sister by Henrythenavigator is just beginning to learn to take direction….to turn to the left…..and then turn to the right. Every single part of this learning process is extremely important. One step builds upon another until a horse is ready to get a rider on it’s back and go to the training track. These detailed steps are all part of the early stages of the ‘breaking process’. Patience is so important and each day a step forward is hopefully taken.
The other family member, my weanling 1/2 sister also by Henrythenavigator, sold on Monday at the Keeneland Sale. She is now several months old….and to quote MY JOHN….quite good looking! Since he knows ME so well and now spends so much time with EBLOUISSANTE, he loves to see how the entire family is developing. I think he sees so many family traits in all of us: strong hind quarters, adorable ‘inquisitive ears’, and good bone structure!
The weanling was HIP 36 and sold to Adena Springs Farm for $1,500,000 Dollars. John tried to capture the video of her selling in the ring for you. Here’s the video.
Hmm! I must say, my family is TOO CUTE! It is great fun keeping up with all of them and their progress! I wonder what these 2 fillies will be named by their owners?
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z
Oh, by the way, so many of you asked about my poster of the Jaime Corum painting. The final details for my new SHOP are just getting completed. The link to purchase this poster will be available by the end of the week. It is really very special…if I say so myself! (Blush, Blush!)

@Janie, Nicole, and Trina– I absolutely LOVE the Horse and Man blog. Thanks to all who have helped Autumn. It’s amazing how fast all those “small” donations add up to something big. If you look at her little picture, Autumn will steal your heart. I’m pulling for her and check on her every day.
@Sue Fredrick–maybe next year’s BC?
@Diana S– you excel at multi-tasking.
@Denise in AZ– you are a HEROINE. Thank you so much!

Zenyatta and @all; My friend and I added days to the trip to your party. Compared to a delicious sundae, you were all the special toppings, the stallion farms we visited were the whip cream, the ice cream, the horse country, fences & barns. We had arrived in Lexington Tues. eve. The next day we visited Airdrie Stud, very peaceful & full of older charm. The groom at the stallion barn allowed us to of course visit all horses within their stalls. I fed carrots and/or peppermints & took pictures. The groom was most agreeable, and brought out Indian Charlie & MajesticPerfection. From a paddock he brought Stevie Wonderboy by Stephen Got Even (A.P.Indy), who are at Lane’s End. There was definitely the look of Indy in him; More carrots & peppermints & pictures! He is real nice looking; so is Brother Derek, who I visited out in his paddock. A ferrier came and we stood and watched Stevie Wonderboy have his shoes changed. After the ferrier tossed the first old shoe, I asked whether they got rid of it or recycled. Since it was to be thrown away, I asked for it. Wow, I got my first thoroughbred shoe! (Secretly, I wish it was Z’s)
We were told by the groom that we could go up and see all the weanlings off a good distance at a barn. They were so so cute. They did not know what a carrot was!! We learned by a hand there that a few were only weaned three days ago from their mama. Those few I feel were the ones calling out (I want my mama), a couple only looking out their window for their mama, never curious about us. One appeared to be a handful and I looked at her name; Naughty Linda (oh,Oh) I had a great time. We then left and visited Pin Oak Stud, a much smaller operation. They were so happy to have us visit and were very hospitable.(by appointment of course)
The owner who is still active with the operations is a 86 yr. old women!! I’D live longer I believe if I’d wake up on a stallion farm , and with you there Z!! No horse was brought out to see, but it was still nice visiting. Standing at stud is Bob and John, who is very ornary. We were told to stay a distance from his stall. Cowboy Cal and Broken Vow stand there too.
Yesteryear spoke out to me about Airdrie.
THE NEXT DAY I DROVE UP TO YOUR PARTY Z!! THE BEST OF THE BEST TIME!
Saturday and Sunday visits I’d like to share another time.
Love n kisses Z, one for baby z and the best to all of you.

Z’s 1/2 sister that sold in the ring has such poise and intelligence quite similar to you. What color is she – very unusual?
Pam
I think Gloria J’s idea about a Zenyatta movie is a great idea. I think they are working on a movie about Mine That Bird and of course, we all know about the Secretariat movie.
I can’t wait to find out how to do some Zenyatta shopping! Just in time to treat myself for Christmas and buy some for my friend in AZ who is your biggest fan!
Your half-sister is such a cutie pie. Thank you, Mr. Shireffs for the video.
Until next time, sending you, Baby Z, and TT all my love.

@Kris O in Chicago, Castleton Lyons is in the Lexington area, a few miles east of the Kentucky Horse Park on Ironworks Pike. The address on their website says Lexington, but I think it’s actually in Georgetown or Paris. They have these enormous, ornate gates.

Zenyatta, I am jealous that I couldn’t make it to your party. So many of your fans came into Louisville, Kentucky from all over the country and mingled with your connections, who really get around and interact with the fans. They are making toys of you and your future baby. I know I’m a little old for toys, but if I had better financial means, I would get all kinds of your paraphenalia and start a collection, including posters and pictures as well as bronze replicas of you and much much more. I will when I can. I saw you on TV during the Breeder’s Cup and your baby bump is really starting to show like I’ve never seen it before. I’m really happy for your horse family and all of the interest John takes in them as well as in you. You must be really reveling in all of this attention. You have really gone places and you will continue to do so, especially when your foal is born. I can’t wait for that. I loved the Breeders Cup races. They were very unpredictable. None of the horses I thought would win won. Many of the winners were long shots that few people expected would win. I feel bad for Goldikova not winning the Mile race and the fact that she will not be racing again. I rooted for her and it was thought that she interfered with 2 other horses, which put the stewards in a tight spot. Some people say she should have been disqualified, but this was not any old race and Goldikova is not any old horse. If I were those stewards, I would have done the same thing. Good luck with the Keeneland yearling sales.

You sure have quite a family going there Zenyatta and they all look fabulous and of course, I understand your John’s continuing interest in all of them. So much of you shows through too! But of course, each has their own distinctiveness. Will be very interesting to see some of them when they show up at the tracks in the future. Sure hope that you are doing well and don’t you ever forget just how much you are loved Zenyatta!
My Love & Blessings as well as a bunch of kisses

@Especially Horses, Sharon Call is right–Vertigineux was bred back to Street Cry, much to the astonishment of all. Vertigineux does have a colt named Souper Spectacular. He is by Giant’s Causeway. He is 4 years old. He has not raced in a while. He has been most sucessful on turf.

Zenyatta and Z-lovers…. Here is a short video of Blind Luck just prior to entering the ring…. I love that she is kicking up her heels and being a bit feisty. I’m so glad she went to a good home. Zenny your mom has passed on all her good looks and talent to her offspring. All your sisters are beautiful, just like you are. Seems like no matter who the father is all you “kids” have a great resemblance to each other. Bless your mom for the good genes. Hope all your sisters and brothers are half as successful and smart as you are. Kisses on your nose sweetie.
