Happy Tuesday DEAR FRIENDS!
I am still basking in the after glow of MY PARTY! You know how performers in Broadway Plays wait up for reviews after opening night…well, the same is true of ME in this situation. Something like this has never been done before in our sport, so we wanted to be sure all went extremely well! The overall consensus is that it was TERRIFIC! Yippee!
I’ve heard that ESPN discussed MY PARTY on National Television. Then the NY TIMES had a piece on MY PARTY as well. The link to that article is here so you may read it! It is all TOO CUTE!
Dottie mentioned that many of YOU took photos at the event. If you’d like to share them with the rest of us, please post them on your FACEBOOK pages and tag ZENYATTA. This will allow them to also appear in my photo gallery. I’d so love to see all of you again having FUN and TOTALLY ENJOYING YOURSELVES.
At the end of the day, all of this is meant to be one thing…FUN!
I know many of you commented to Dottie at the party that you really enjoy reading MY DIARY each day. Not only that but you share my various daily updates with your family and friends. Several of you also mentioned that you and your co-workers start each day in your office reading the DIARY updates. Thank you so much! This is all so special to ME!
Then along the way, another very special thing has happened with all of this! In some way, we have all become special friends and like one big family. The responses in the Diary comments are so dear and caring. Thank you for all of the kindness you share with ME and each other. As I said a few moments ago, this is all meant to be FUN!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Queen Z…what a great picture of “the girls”! Thanks to everyone for sharing the pictures and stories from Z’s party.
Sounds like a good time was had by all. The huge likeness of Zenny is beautiful.
I hope Uncle Mo retired in good health, the comment by Mike Repole that the stress of training and racing could bring on a relapse for Uncle Mo has me stratching my head as to why they took the chance with his health.
Glad to see that Gio Ponti wiil stand in Kentucky. I just love him, he always gave everything he had when he raced!
And Grace is very much a champion and I hope she gets HOY for all her effort!
Sandy
Another wonderful picture, Zenny, and I agree with the others – how nice it is to see Sarah! I know she takes such good care of you. It certainly is entertaining to read the various accounts of your party, and I, too, hope there will be some video posted along with the other pictures. It’s a beautiful day here in Ohio so I hope you are also enjoying the nice weather in Kentucky. You know what will be upon us before we know it. Love from your Ohio friend, Sandy
@Abigail from Montreal – I clicked on the link to Steve Haskins’ Facebook page and got a message that I couldn’t see the content. I’m not “on Facebook” – do you have to be for this to work? Do you also have to be a “friend” of Steve’s? Thanks for any info. I may have to give up and join Facebook just so I can add to Zenny’s friends.
WILD HORSES
Significant is an understatement. You are the most special horse that has ever graced this earth. You will always be my one and only true love as a horse that I’ve never laid my eyes on, but your specialness shines through everywhere. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!!! Lori

Doreen from CT–thanks for the link about Gio Ponti’s retirement.

My adorable Zenyatta, what awesome photo! Love you miss you Ingrid.
@ Signofthetimes,
@ Sharon CA,
Definite I think in desperation and nerves make us act the wrong way, but I have to remember that we cannot cry over spill milk, hugs Ingrid.

FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR INFO ON OMAHA…(sorry for the caps I just wanted to get your attention)
For the person who wrote about Omaha. If you look in M. A. Stoneridge’s book Great Horses of Our Time it says that Omaha after being sent to England to race as a 4 year old was retired and sent to Claiborne Farm. I have written Claiborne and will let you know what they tell me.
It’s also possible that he went to Belair Stud–but I don’t know to much about this place other than it existed in Lexington.
If Omaha’s at Claiborne that should put your mind to rest. They take very fine care of the horse cemetery there.
I’ll use the email addy you provided earlier to send you the quote on page 150.

@Sandy, guess you’ll have to do what I did…join FB to be a friend of Steve’s and Zenny’s. Yes, you do have to be a FB member to see Steve’s wonderful photos but it’s worth the effort. You can easily be a friend of his and, at the same time, add another person to Zenny’s total of 93,000+ so far. We want her to have 100,000 by the time the HOY awards are announced. Hope this helps.
Nancy
Enjoyed the party so much! It was fantastic!

Precious Zenyatta–if i cannot buy a copy of that new painting of you, i will be very sad! It is nothing short of magnificent.
I hope you will have a party at next year’s BC because I and my team mates will be there to celebrate you!
You have no idea how much of an inspiration you are, Zenny. You have no idea how many thousands of us would give so much to just hug you once. Through Dottie, you have given us so much and our hearts are filled with gratitude to you both. If a genie in a bottle were to pop up in my path and i was given three wishes, just like in the movies, one of those wishes would be–oh please let me visit with Zenyatta and hug her and feed her carrots and peppermints and pears. How good it is to love you!
Emily
I wish I could have been there Z! I saw your painting though, and it was stunning. Jaime captured you perfectly. I wish you well as always.

Gio Ponti retired…what a tremendous racing career! He was exceptional, but overshadowed by the even more talented fillies and mares during his time…Zenyatta, Rachel, and Goldikova. I know he will not win another Eclipse award this year, but I hope his 3 awards, along with 2 seconds and a 4th in BC races, will keep him in our thoughts for a long time. Although, if you watch the 2009 BC Classic as much as I have, it’s impossible to forget him finishing second to the Queen! “Gio Ponti on the inside…and Zenyatta’s come to the outside! This is UN BE LIEVE A BLE! But it is ZENYATTA! What a performance, one we’ll NEVER forget!”

I just tried to post a video from Zenyatta’s party on her FB page, but it wouldn’t let me do it. I’ll still keep trying, though. I don’t know how to post links, but if anyone wants to see it and the pictures from the party I posted, just get on FB and type “Debbie Godby” under search. The video is of Zenyatta’s live feed. It is too cute!
@Cynthia – Thanks for filling us all in about Kari. I’m praying for her.

I forgot this. If you search Debbie Godby on FB, pick the one from Lexington KY that has Rachel Alexandra as her profile picture!

Hi Zenny and All: Great News with Blind Luck!! Looks like Life at Ten and Royal Delta will be in good hands, too.

Zenyatta, Oh how I wish I could have been at your party. It sure sounded Grand just like you sweet mamma. Take care of baby Z/B and kisses on your soft nose.
XOXO
Abigail from Montreal
@ Sandy: I’m no FB Expert but you may be right about that. I doubt you need to make Steve Haskin a friend to see his photos, though, since he’s kind of a “public personality.”
@ALL: I join with everyone in sending OUR KARI my love, my positive thoughts and my positive energies. I don’t know quite what else to add except that, even through time & space in our “virtual room” here, I feel that Kari is a very, very special being, with a very old spirit. My heart is with you, sister soul.

Hello Pretty Girl! Love the Posters! You are so beautiful Zenyatta and I love you so much!

I had the best time at your party. I must say that all your connections are just gracious, lovely people Zenny!! Ann and Dottie are just beautiful..outside of course but inside too. I met so many great people who love you like I do. I will never forget that day.
Sally B. (Wi)
I had my picture taken with you (poster) too! Yes indeed to attend your party, see your Z family, watch you LIVE on that big screen was such an exhilirating memorable time!! I had my Z jersy signed by all your team and I finally could thank them in person!! The food was umm,umm great, music by the Chicken Grease very cool, and talking to various Z fans and some Z dumplings a lot of fun. (After luncheon met the lead singer of Chicken Grease while outside and he sung his song of you, Z,again to us!) The unveiling of you; Zenyatta dancing, painting by Jaimie, was breathtakingly beautiful. I love what I call my “Zenyatta friendship bracelet” that I purchased. I wanted to bid on your horse shoe, but our 2 tickets were not purchased in my name. Watching your races on that screen were awesome; so many like me cheered as though it was the very first time seen!! YIPPIE!! We all just adore and love you Z for all you are. We love your Z family too. Your party will be a wonderful memory.
love N 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z
p.s. HI to all I have met!!

You are so precious and absolutely gorgeous Zenyatta! You surely keep me going and make it so exciting to come here each and every day to read what is going on and keep in touch. Would be so lost without this fantastic diary.
Keep on shining and sparkling as you are brighter than any star up above. Sending my Love & Blessings

Hip #427, ROYAL DELTA, three-year-old dark bay or brown filly, by Empire Maker—Delta Princess, by A.P. Indy “She’s just major special. She’s got the eye. She’s always had the eye. She’s a major athlete—maybe not quite as competitive as her mother, who was just going to beat them no matter what.
She’s starting to figure that out, but I think before it was all ability and `what do I do next?’ She’s going to be a terrific racehorse carrying on further.
