Happy Tuesday DEAR FRIENDS!
I am still basking in the after glow of MY PARTY! You know how performers in Broadway Plays wait up for reviews after opening night…well, the same is true of ME in this situation. Something like this has never been done before in our sport, so we wanted to be sure all went extremely well! The overall consensus is that it was TERRIFIC! Yippee!
I’ve heard that ESPN discussed MY PARTY on National Television. Then the NY TIMES had a piece on MY PARTY as well. The link to that article is here so you may read it! It is all TOO CUTE!
Dottie mentioned that many of YOU took photos at the event. If you’d like to share them with the rest of us, please post them on your FACEBOOK pages and tag ZENYATTA. This will allow them to also appear in my photo gallery. I’d so love to see all of you again having FUN and TOTALLY ENJOYING YOURSELVES.
At the end of the day, all of this is meant to be one thing…FUN!
I know many of you commented to Dottie at the party that you really enjoy reading MY DIARY each day. Not only that but you share my various daily updates with your family and friends. Several of you also mentioned that you and your co-workers start each day in your office reading the DIARY updates. Thank you so much! This is all so special to ME!
Then along the way, another very special thing has happened with all of this! In some way, we have all become special friends and like one big family. The responses in the Diary comments are so dear and caring. Thank you for all of the kindness you share with ME and each other. As I said a few moments ago, this is all meant to be FUN!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Sounds like a great time, Big Mama Z! Congrats to your “mom and dad”, Ann and Jerry for being top owners at this year’s Santa Anita autumn meet. Love to all of Team Z!

Attended your Party and it was a big success. I got the official poster and the entire Team Z’s autograph. I cannot wait to get it framed. I also received a photo from two ladies who had won an auction for $7000 that allowed them to spend 2 hrs with you a few weeks ago. They recalled so many FUN stories of their visit. It is so true we are all a big family and share a common bond with you. Enjoy your beautiful day at Lanes End.
Nina
Our love for you is a small token compared to all the great moments you have given us.Long live the Queen!

Absolutely correct – the BEST way to start each day reading these wonderful posts – thanks again Dottie & team. For those of us who could not attend Zenyatta day and want to order items,please let us know how and where to look, especially for the V foundation. You look gorgeous big mama/little baby and continue to amaze.

Z – you are too much! You are one lucky horse and I bet you didn’t need a shoe to get lucky. You have natural talent and hope you pass it on to your foal/bebe!!!

This is all fun Z….you bring happiness and joy to so many people…you help bring us together. With so much going on in the world and the economy…this is one place we can for a few moments…think only happy thoughts!!! Us fans love you and your team….we love Dottie…without her..I do not think the diary would be as much fun. Dottie knows exactly how to get your thoughts on paper. Dottie cares about you and it shows through the diary. Hugs to you Z…. I am refinancing my townhouse this week…so I am really happy…and reading this…am happier.

I am so sorry to hear of Kari Bussell’s car accident in October. THANK YOU, Cynthia for the news that she was expected to be released from the hospital last month. We are always carrying her in our hearts and our prayers. I started a group for candles under KARI at http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=KARI

What an amazing group of people surround this once in a lifetime horse. As has been repeated many times – “This is UNBELIEVEABLE!!!”
@ALL I read that there were Zenyatta Way street signs for sale at the Party. Are they available for purchase somewhere? I would love to purchase one. Thanks in advance for any info.
Mark
This was my 4th Breeder’s Cup in a row and the 1st without you! It just wasn’t the same without you. I thought that Mr. Commons ran well. I hope John was happy with his race

A Birthday Poem for DJ
(November 8, 2011)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As we celebrate her birthday
This eighth day of November,
I hazard to say
That some who love DJ
May not know
That it’s nothing dire
That’s led her to semi-retire
From posting here—
I fear
That wasn’t so clear
And may
Have caused consternation.
You see,
DJ’s a secular member
In an association
Mainly of laity
— an order of contemplation
Within the Carmelites.
’Tis the OCDS,
Which well might
Be new to many, I’d guess.
From among these devoted,
She’s been recently promoted
And assumed much new responsibility
Which limits her ability
To read and post here
Though she remains an ardent Z-er.
When she had more time,
She offered a morning and evening prayer,
And each was a paradigm
To lift our eyes toward the sublime.
And for those who found themselves
In the lions’ lair
Of suffering and despair,
Her tendered prayer
Fostered spiritual repair
And helped to console
A downcast soul.
She seeks us all to inspire
That we lift our thoughts higher,
And so we will
As we to her say,
“We love you still,
And always will,
And we wish you
Every happiness too,
Especially today!”
Happy Birthday, dearest DJ!
A REPOST OF A POEM BY DJ: Recent arrivals to Z’s site might not have seen this beautiful poem which DJ penned for Zenyatta and kindly posted on April 21, 2011. I am taking the liberty of reposting it in honor of DJ’s birthday.
A Mushy Love Letter (from a Not-So-Secret Admirer)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do you know, yes, you know, but can I say it anyway
Do you know the difference
One day to the next
Between having no one
And suddenly finding love of a friend
Love of a friend, one who cares, truly cares
So sudden it appears, this wondrous feeling
One day life is fine
But suddenly it lights on fire
Bringing warmth that glows the world
Provides an empty heart a meal
Wraps sweetness in a cloud
Out of yesterday comes an angel
Ears outstretched with no demands
Eyes that ask nothing; wait only to give
A listener, a contributor, a Bay beauty
Your blaze is white; a halo in my mind
If we met in the meadow we might pass each other by
In a fleeting and innocently unaware moment
A moment of loss, not realizing how special it could be
Things could be so good
Love could be so close
Love of a friend
A horse like you

Great picture of 2 special ladies and the Queen! Love all the info from the party and links to articles and videos. Please keep posting for those of us who could not attend. (thanks Dottie)
@Cynthia – thanks for the information on Kari. I will certainly light candles for her and continue to keep her in my prayers. I had gotten behind reading posts and was afraid that I had missed something. My sweet Lady Rose is taking extra time right now so I have to read posts when I can.

@Trina Nagele – Thanks for posting the birthday poem for DJ. Again, I had gotten behind reading posts and I missed her prayers/hymns. I always read them and often they hit just the right note with me. I’m glad nothing is wrong and wish her the very best (but I still miss her posts!).

I just read the article in NY Times…wow what a beautiful written article..it captured what all us fans are feeling….and who you truly are Z. I have a few tears. Z…you are so very special…God knew this when he sent you…and he knew who to send you to..Ann and Jerry…John and Dottie…and Mike Smith…and of course Mario. It is beautiful here in VA today…hope it is there. Glad you are so happy!!!

Hope we get to celebrate at Santa Anita next year! Love to see so many of us paying homage to the Queen and her team. Both Zenyatta and her team were blessed to have each other. The best part is they have shared her with us and now we have been blessed also.
Love hugs and kisses

@Kari; we all pray for your hasty recovery and return to your friends and family…many prayers are being said for your well being.
Zenyatta Lovers;
This will be the last posting on this site about the Omaha Project for a great while. This is Zenny’s blog and we mean to honor it.
We have lots of information and numbers of people to call and talk with. There has been an enormous amount of very hard work done by the members of Omaha’s team. More will be done in the coming weeks and months. When we have a breakthrough we will post it for you. Meanwhile, if anyone else is interested in knowing about the on-going efforts and information we have gathered; please send me an email @ mkb1802@comcast.net. You will be added to the distribution list being compiled.
Please wish us luck and say a prayer for our success…Omaha’s efforts and successes on the track need to be celebrated and respected. He was lost but now we intend to find him and add him to the “Circle of Champions” to be remembered, as all Triple Crown winners deserve, for accomplishing an enormous feat of strength, courage and determination. Omaha will receive are very best efforts. If you are interested, go to you tube and type in his name and triple crown year of 1935 and you can see some very old videos of his TC campaign.
ps; he was the color of Man’o’War and Secretariat…bright aurburn red with a sweet face, a long white blaze and gentle quiet eyes…he was very handsome :)
Jamie
Great party! Wish I could have been there… Next year I hope you have another party when the Breeder’s Cup will be at Santa Anita because I will be there. Great ride in the Classic by “Your Mikey.” Chantell got a big surprise LOL
Love and kisses to you and your family.
Diane
I wish I could’ve made it to the Breeder’s Cup and the party this year. Maybe next year. I was wondering though if the items you mentioned could still be purchased, such as the jewelry, etc. I am glad the party was a success and here is to all of my Zenyatta comrades!

All these things, Zenyatta, are Fun, Fun, Fun!!!!!!!!!

Zenny, how great to see another diary entry from you early today. More great pictures, too. Your Ann just seems to glow when she’s around you…even if it is in a photo. I guess we can say, to use a Dottie term, you are just “Too Cute”.
Prayars are being sent to Kari.
Jeanie
Dear Great One,
You are unbelievable, or are Trevor Denman put it, U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-A-B-L-E! I want a party next year at Santa Anita! I will be there if I have to walk. Just read about the downturn in TV ratings for this year’s Breeders Cup minus YOU. YOU made all the difference in the world and YOU still do to our sport! Love YOU.
Your humble J

Happy Birthday DJ!

Zenny- your Ann and Sarah look lovely and happy next to “you.” You and your Team were so generous and thoughtful to have a party for your fans. It couldn’t have been easy! Love you <3

You and all your party planners ABSOLUTELY DESERVE TO BASK IN THE AFTERGLOW OF A FABULOUS PARTY. EVEN THOUGH I COULDN’T BE THERE YOU HAVE ALL BEEN SO KIND AS TO POST ALL THE PICTURES, COMMENTS. IT’S SOMETHING WE IN THE WEST COAST WILL LOOK FORWARD TO WITH GREAT EXPECTATION NEXT YEAR.
I FOUND THIS ARTICLE ABOUT MORE COVERAGE WITH PREP RACES ON NBC NEXT YEAR AND IN MY HUMBLE OPINION IT IS BECAUSE OF YOU AND THE ZENYATTA TEAM. YOU HAVE RE-AWAKENED A NATION OF NEW FANS. THANK YOU DOTTIE, ZENYATTA AND ALL TEAM MEMBERS.
Great photo of you Sarah and your Mom http://therail.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/11/08/nbc-to-televise-derby-preps/
