Good Morning Everyone!
HOORAY! The 2 days of racing we have all been waiting for and planning on for the last several weeks…The World Championships…are now here! I truly want to wish all of the entrants and their connections ALL THE BEST! May this weekend of racing offer some of the most exciting moments in sports that we’ve enjoyed in quite some time! My Lane’s End pals are discussing their selections with us each day. Then TASTY and I add our thoughts after studying the DAILY RACING FORM and listening to the on-air handicappers. Hmmm, I wonder who will pick more winners: Matt, Sarah, David, Charles or ME???
Yesterday afternoon was SO MUCH FUN! MY TEAM came to visit ME. Everyone hugged and kissed ME Then they ‘checked out’ my BABY BUMP. MY JOHN looked ME over from head-to-tail. (I kept waiting for him to check my legs…just like he did for years at Barn 55.) The overall consensus was that I looked absolutely TOO CUTE! TASTY also joined in the fun and we had a wonderful afternoon.
Ann was so sweet! She and I cuddled for quite some time…and then she scratched ALL of my favorite spots. It was fabulous. I relaxed and truly enjoyed each moment! We talked about my party and all of the things going on in my life right now. It was truly like old times!
Later during the visit, I thought it would be fun to DO ANN’S HAIR for MY PARTY! She is such a good sport! I must say, this could be another career option for ME in the future.
As for MY PARTY, ALL of the festivities begin at 11:30 today. For those of you attending, please remember that the traffic patterns change on these busy World Championship Days. 4th Avenue is closed in certain spots as you get close to Churchill Downs, so please allow for this in your planning. The shuttle buses start running around 11:30 if you’d like to wait for them.
To enter the party, please go to the area by the BARBARO statue. You will see a sign by the doors of this building for the party. Please enter here. Your name, having ordered your tickets in advance, will be on a master list. Then go on in and have a GREAT TIME!
It has been such an amazing 12 months! Last November, I was at Churchill Downs preparing to run in the BREEDERS’ CUP CLASSIC! This year, I’m again SO FORTUNATE! I’m able to share in the festivities with my dear friends…just in a different role!
I’ll see you there…BABY BUMP and ALL! Oh, how I do love this modern day technology!
ENJOY!
Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

@Trina where did he say that? I’m watching the online streaming video and haven’t heard anything from mike yet. I’d like to see what he Mikey has to say!
Andrea
Hey Kimberley! Isnt it great that we could just relax this year! That was a great race! I loved the stories of all these horses and their connections. I sometimes wish we could have them all at the wire together! A year for longshots!!!

Gloria Jeanne - The O.C.
I hope that Havre De Grace can still get Horse Of The Year… good luck.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Congrats to Mikey! And Chantal ran a great race. Anybody know how HDG finished? And Flat Out? I can’t believe they didn’t mention Uncle Mo either.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
What a shocker, Mike Smith powering by with Drosselmeyer, a great race! HdG was 4th.
Kimberly Potter/Montana
@ Gloria Jeanne~ I lost track of Havre de Grace in the race…where did she finish? I think she neede to win the Classic to get HOTY….I am pulling for her as well. What a great filly!
Alex
Get well soon, A.U. Miner!
Kimberly Potter/Montana
Thanks Vicki B….HDG was 4th…where were Uncle Mo and Stay Thirsty?
Erin
It’s still not over. HOY is still yet to come. I could care less about the Mike/Chantel issue…old news which the media loves to rehash. Time to move on. They have. Congrats to all the winners.

Now TVG talking heads are saying “Mike put an arrow through Chantal’s heart”.

What a race! And what a flood of memories! Congratulations to your Mikey! Was thinking of you all day long, Zenny!!

What a day for upsets but really happy for Mike-he did a brilliant job on Drosselmeyer today. Don’t think Uncle Mo was really ready for this one and Havre De Grace did her best in a tough race. Also great effort as usual for Shackleford and Goldikova is no slouch with 3 classics behind her but I do think they should retire her.
Z – your BC Classic last year will always be the one to beat!
Kimberly Potter/Montana
@Erin~ I don’t think that the Mike/Chantal thing was even in play at this juncture…they have all moved on. Congrats to Mike Smith…what a way to redeem himself. They are all winners in my book1
Kimberly Potter/Montana
Chantal proved to be a class act with her after race interview saying that Mike was a great rider. Love her!

What an exciting weekend!! It’s probably a good thing that we change the clocks tonight and get an extra hour of sleep. Vic and I have really enjoyed the BC World Championship races even if we could not be in Louisville. Vic made race programs for both days for us and we had our own picks and “pretend” bets. I think that I may be ahead because of Mikey’s win in the Classic on Drosselmeyer. I’ll never be able to watch the Nutcracker ballet on TV again without seeing Mikey cross the line. Next year is going to be very interesting watching all those Juvenile’s as they make their way towards CD and the Run For The Roses.
@ Abigail – Ma Bell was not so good today(Canadian football took precedence over the BC) and so I thank you again for the link to the live feed from CD. I think we can wave the Maple Leaf flag for Roger Attfield and Chantal Sutherland, they did good!!!

Hey Zenny: Congratulations to Mike Smith on his win with Drosselmeyer!! Yippee. I am so happy for Mike.
Any news on where Stay Thirsty and Uncle Mo finished? I thought Uncle Mo ran a great race. He was in the front and near leading for the entire race.
Erin
@Kimberly Potter
If you’d read my comment more closely, that is exactly what I said. I was referring to the “media” still bringing up the past. I bet they are so sick of the comparisons and references. Got it now?
Especially Horses / CA
I’m still waiting for the complete order of finish… Uncle Mo and Flatout where did they finish?
______
@Kimberly Potter. I agree with you, Chantal is a classy lady.
Molly
Zenyatta, I bet you are so proud of Mike Smith. I agree that I think he won this one for you. You had a GREAT jockey. Can’t wait to see some pictures from all of your festivities. Love ya.
Debbie G/Kentucky
What a great day of racing. Congratulations to Mike Smith! Hoofray! I’m so happy for him. This just makes the race for HOY even more confusing doesn’t it? I really hope Havre de Grace gets it. I just love her. And is it just me or does anyone else feel kind of sad now that the Breeders Cup is over? There’s all this anticipation and when it’s over you feel kind of lost. It seems like there’s such a long time between the BC and the Derby prep races.
@Kimberly Potter – I’m glad you like those Z cocktails. I had a few yesterday and I know, they will kick your butt!
I’m praying for you A U Miner. I hope your surgery is successful.

I hope you enjoyed your party, Z. I missed you these past couple days with all the BC upsets. I could always count on you, ALWAYS. Stay warm, happy, and healthy. Keep munching away for your little “bump.”
Abigail from Montreal
@ Brenda S. INTERESTING….I kept thinking, “Oh why don’t I live in Ontario?????!!!!” I agree: our Canucks did good. But I’m just sick about So You Think (happy as I am for our Mikey, the horse & those who finished ahead of him). He tried so hard! I really think the Coolmore gang should have gotten Mikey to ride him. If they had, he would have won, I think….
Andrea
A toast to the distance winners! Of course, Drosselmeyer! But how about Afleet Again! Marathon winner! I loved his sire! If you want to see a thriller, look up the Afleet Alex Preakness, he also won the Belmont that year! Horses with stamina and distance ability are what the bloodline needs! (in my humble opinion!)
