Good Morning,
I remember this TREE so well. It’s located on the grass area just outside the Churchill Downs’ barn where I stayed during the 2010 Breeders’ Cup. Cheers to my BARN 55 pals, FRANK and HARMONIOUS! There they are out enjoying the sunshine together this morning. MY JOHN thought they each looked so relaxed and happy. He also got a kick out of the sign and wanted ME to share it with you.
The Kentucky weather is really quite lovely right now and the future forecasts all look to be very encouraging…clear, sunny, and temperatures ranging from the mid 60’s into the 70’s over the weekend. A bit of rain is forecast for Thursday….so I’m sure ‘paddock schooling today’ for all of the participants will be very active.
My Lane’s End buddies have commented that many of the horses appear to be training forwardly and looking strong each morning. RACE DAY is getting close!
In reading your Diary comments and responses, I’ve noticed so many of you are really enthused about MY PARTY! Thank you! I must say, I can’t wait!
The film crews are being organized so I can attend the event and be right there with ALL of you! Leonard is sending Dottie various other party details so she can share them in my Diary during the next few days. This is so much FUN! A party like this has never been done before, thus, this thought really adds to the anticipation. You know ME…I love being FIRST….but I must say, what truly makes it even more SPECIAL…is I can share this activity with ALL OF YOU!
Yippee, I just heard that members of MY TEAM are coming to visit ME tomorrow afternoon. They were last here in mid-September! I’m sure they’ll think my ‘baby bump’ is progressing splendidly. I also have such a fabulous GLOW about ME. This mom-to-be ‘track’ (no pun intended) I’m now enjoying in my life is truly agreeing with ME….if I say so myself! (Blush, Blush!)
In between all of these other activities, I’m doing my handicapping! There are so many great races to review…and I want to be sure to study every single detail. One thing I’ve definitely noticed, MY BERNIE is well represented with his progeny in this year’s WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. He has some very solid opportunities for his offspring to perform CLASSICALLY! HOOVES CROSSED!
Have a glorious day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Wish I could go to your party, Z! Hope you all have fun=

Goldi is quite full of her self in KY, bucking, tossing her head and then getting down to business. She loves churchill downs and the turf and tight turns there. On Arc day heard she is going to be bred to Galileo, what a powerhouse colt/filly that will make. Both her and Gio Ponti are having their swan song in BC mile 2011. He looks really great also.

Don’t forget about Bernie’s boy To Honor and Serve. He is going to be a good challenger in 2011 BCC. Lots of good words from talking heads. He has an outside post so his inexperience may not show as he may not get in traffic.

Lots of question about So You Think and the dirt. He may have dirt in his pedigree but very very very far back.

Hi Zenny: This photo taken by Your John is too funny!! I also enjoyed the interview with Your John and Blood Horse. Very funny. I wish Harmonious and Mr. Commons all the best. I am getting very excited. The fun begins tomorrow. I know ESPN will televise the race beginning tomorrow at 4pm ET, but I am sure HRTV will broadcast the event throughout the entire day on Friday. I hope no one distrubs me on Saturday.
I know you will enjoy your visit with your family. I bet you really look forward to these their visits. I am sure you will be reviewing on the contenders in this year’s Classic.
@signofthetimes: Thanks for posting the link to the article: ESPN version of Blame and Zenyatta one year later. Great story.
@Anne from Paramount, CA — Thanks for the B’day wishes.
@Dawn Conrad: Hope you are feeling better.

Does anyone have an update on Blind Luck and Life at Ten? Please let us know if you have any news on the auction.

Good morning Zenny, Only one more sleep before your party when you will be the Queen of Churchill Downs as well as our hearts. I loved the video of YOUR JOHN, he is so articulate, gracious and has a fantastic sense of humour. His comments about Ebby being in your old stall and her personality were so touching, his love for his dumplings is so obvious.
@ Dawn – So happy to hear that you are feeling a little better. Is there any medication or therapy to help or is it just a “time will take care” situation. I’m having some discomfort in my left hip and the Dr., as usual, tells me it’s an “aging” situation. Cortisone shots help but they are only good for about a month or six weeks. I’m so fed up with being told I’m “aging” I could just spit!!!
@ All Dumplings – Enjoy the festivities tomorrow whether you are at CD or glued to the TV.

I am so happy for all of you who are going to Louisville and I’m so sad for those of us who are not. I sure hope Zenyatta’s party is an annual affair so I can participate at Santa Anita next year!
Safe travels to all of you who are going and safe travels to all our four- and two-legged friends participating in Breeder’s Cup races.

@Brenda S., Ontario, Canada. I so know what you mean about aging. I’m having a little degeneration in both of my hips on top of everything else. On the other hand, I feel really lucky that I’ve managed to make it to 66 and probably 67. So many haven’t that I know. I’ve lost two friends to cancer in the last 3 years so I count my blessings. Besides, it’s sort of fun to “lord it” over people that I know that are half my age. Age can have it’s upside!

Dear Zenny,
Hope you are having an exciting day of preparation for the BC. Your role will be a little different this year, but so very fun.
HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTEST (you and TT).
Hope your day goes well in the chilly KY air, all the horses are fresh and bucking up a storm, ready to run their best.

LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
@Linda in NJ, the November sales are after the Breeders’ Cup, since the outcome of the races may well affect the value of horses entered in the auctions. A number of current contenders are entered in either the Keeneland or Fasig-Tipton sales (FT is November 6). It’s also possible that some horses will be scratched from the sales based on performance. For example, Medaglia D’Amour was set to go in the Ladies’ Classic, but she has been scratched from the race because of a fever. I would not be surprised if she were scratched from the sale also (she’s in the FT sale, IIRC). Dams of BC contenders that are entered in the sales may also see their values go up if their offspring do well.

I love you, miss you, Ingrid.

When I click on the link, it comes right to the article with the jockeys. I have no idea…is anyone else having this problem? Maybe try again later, sometimes that happens to me, and I come back to it later.
Debbie
Zenny, we are leaving for Louisville right now. We can’t wait for your party tomorrow. The Breeders’ Cup won’t be the same without you running, but it will be wonderful to see you at your party. Have a great weekend, we love you!
