Good Morning,
Happy November 1st! I hope all of you had a fun Halloween! I heard that my dear pal, SOPHIE SHIRREFFS, dressed up for the celebration. She wore a black and orange pumpkin costume as she helped Dottie hand out the candy. Sophie had a terrific time as she truly loves children and adored the ‘pats on the head and hugs’ she received from the trick-or-treaters. TOO CUTE!
My evening was rather relaxed here at Lane’s End. TASTY and I enjoyed our time together and the pleasant weather. Let’s hope it stays nice and dry this week for all of our Breeders’ Cup visitors and participants! So far, the weather reports look good! HOOVES CROSSED!
This morning several of the European horses were able to go to the track and stretch their legs. Here’s GOLDIKOVA on the right and directly behind her is SARAFINA. They are safely through their initial quarantine procedures. Now it is back to the track for all of these European horses to continue their daily training programs for the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The post positions were drawn yesterday and the fields are now set. The morning lines are published and the various talk programs and handicappers are reviewing the fields and studying the past performances. It was cool this morning, but as you can see in the photo the sun was trying to ‘peak through’.
My day started with visitors from TVG. They were teasing as I went out to the field and started to prance around that the main times they saw ME in the early morning was for their WORKS PROGRAM. That is the case with today’s visit as well. TVG is going to do a segment on prior BREEDERS’ CUP CLASSIC WINNERS….and I AM ONE. (YEAH!!) They wanted to include ME in their piece. TOO CUTE!
MY PARTY is really getting organized. We have some fabulous items for the SILENT AUCTION. I know Lane’s End sent some things of mine as a halter and shoe. Such fun! Friday is getting close! Oh, here comes Sarah with my afternoon schedule. Let’s see what other FUN THINGS I’m doing today.
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

I hope I can get through this weekend without getting so emotional. See you at the Queens’s party. Yipee!!!

Yay, Goldikova! Hope she pulls it off and thanks for sharing the photo of her. Of course this time of year led to me think of all the excitement leading up to last year’s BC and waiting to see your glorious run at history…. I’d never been so excited for a Breeders’ Cup and I know this one will be good (and maybe Grace will pull off her big win – we can only hope she successfully emulates you) but we’ll still miss you. Looking forward to your party and seeing you in the live feed. :)

Dear Zenny,
What a lovely article about you!!!

You look very beautiful in the photo, a really nice shot from behind.
Have a wonderful day, with TT in the paddock eating for two and galloping, if you can, a bit slower. XXXXOOO

@signofthetimes – Thanks for posting the link to the ESPN article. I printed it out to save. The photos of her are lovely. As I read through it, I noticed one comment that must be a misake. The article says “…Zenyatta is turned out at night and brought up in the morning…” I think the author meant to say she is turned out in the morning and brought up at night. Great article, I enjoyed reading it. Thank you again for posting it.

John you were TOO CUTE in the Bloodhorse interview. One note, no matter how ‘low
you can go’, you’ll never shrink in stature – all the ‘status’ gained by your achievements will keep you head and shoulders ABOVE all others. You are a winner in every way and always will be.

@Rosemary McCauley – Southern California,
The horses in KY are turned out at night during the summer because it gets so hot. I don’t know about Broodmares in foal, but the yearlings are turned out at night. Have a great day everyone! Hugs to all…

Great interview of CEO of Breeders’ Cup Craig Fravel…I like what he has to say about Zenny…some great photos and articles. http://editor.ne16.com/vo/?FileID=385f3681-82e8-429f-9258-912dea10cb9e&m=edb13dd63982fe4193367144e6868cc8&MailID=21690457

I am putting together a group email for all of us to use in communicating about this issue off-line. So far, I have eastcoastkid’s and Allie in TX. If you want to work as a group on this project, please send me your email through Zenyatta.com and I will send back a group email distribution for everyone to use. This is an important project, but I think we should discuss it offline so as not to detract from Zenyatta. Also, it is not an emergency situation like an equine rescue, so it doesn’t need to get everyone’s attention immediately. When we come up with something major to announce or need additional assistance, then we can post on Zenyatta.com for everyone to see. Thank you. j

You are welcome – from ‘the horses mouth’ as they say! Keep me in the loop please.

Loved the John Shirreffs interview. Is it any wonder that Haskins equated Zenyatta with honor, beauty and innocence. Even with all of the attention from Zenyatta, John has kept his feet on the ground and good sense of humor. He’s a great trainer that hasn’t let success change his style.

I’m sure you told us and I probably missed it, but who is televising your party. Is it ESPN, TVG, ABC or HRTV? And, what time (central) will it be aired. It will break my heart if I don’t get to see and tape it.

@Rosemary NcCauley in SoCal, the article also stated that Blame is turned out at night, so it’s not a mistake. In truth, horses are generally happier and healthier if turned out as much as possible. Tasty and she probably love it.

For Barbara W. and all “Z” Friends who would like to share in a Horseman’s Prayer.
…………………………….
Dear Lord, I thank you for being all that you are and for your Love, Mercy and Grace.
Thank you for the gift of the horse that you have so graciously entrusted me to manage.
I give thanks for the gift of horsemanship that you have chosen to instill in me and I pray that it will be used for the purpose that it was given…to glorify you, by sharing this gift with others so they might see your glory in all its magnificence.
I pray that each moment I interact with this stout, strong, gracious creature you have created; May the heavens be open and shower me with wisdom, strength, love, and understanding that can only come from you. You have blessed me so much beyond my imagination, take not your blessing from me but give me continuous wisdom and understanding to safely ride, train and show a form of horsemanship that pleases you and my faithful friend.

@DJ–amen, and thank you so much. When I saw the verse in Proverbs 12:10 weeks ago, I knew that it was heavenly permission to be doing what I am with rescues. I’m so glad you saw that too! Love and hugs.

To Barbara: Wonderful! Thank you….always no coincidence :)

I hope Dottie will include a picture of darling Sophie in her pumpkin costume sometime in the future. Now, let’s see, what did you dress up as for Halloween? I know….the world’s most beautiful mare! Guess you didn’t have to work too hard to achieve that! Take care of yourself and Baby Z! Hugs to you and everyone on your team!
Paul
Zenyatta, I hope you got lots of candy and other goodies for Halloween. I had a nice Halloween myself, even though I didn’t do much. I’ll bet the European horses are happy to be out of quarantine and on the track. I am really excited about Goldikova in particular. I am a loyal viewer of TVG and I will definitely be watching their piece on you as well as their other Breeder’s Cup pieces. I’ll bet you were very happy to see them. They were pretty likely to be happy to see you. You are the woman, Zenyatta!

Will certainly miss seeing you running in this years Breeders Cup, but your performances will never be forgotten.

What do you think of investing in Inovio Pharma, the VGX division has a promising treatment for laminitis, maybe you could have met Barbaro had it been around when he got laminitis.
