Good Morning,
Now, this is TOO CUTE! Here I am as one of the rides on the newly created childrens’ carousel at the Los Angeles Zoo.
Thursday, my dear owners attended the Zoo’s Press Conference to unveil the TOM MANKIEWICZ CONSERVATION CAROUSEL. The Moss’ were quite instrumental in the development of this project and it was with great joy that they attended yesterday’s event. Not only did they love seeing US…GIACOMO, TIAGO, ME, and the many other beautifully crafted animals…but they also wanted to honor their dear friend, TOM, for all of his hard work in helping to make this happen.
This carousel was truly meant to be something very special for all children and their families who visit the L. A. ZOO.
I’ve heard many of our “Z DUMPLINGS” are planning a trip there soon. Please keep us posted with the updates on your adventure!
As for other news, my pal, COZI ROSIE, had her final workout yesterday for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf Race. She breezed 7 furlongs in a nice and relaxed 1:27 and change. She will ‘walk today’ as part of her training routine. This is a very normal practice as most horses do have a very easy day of activity following a day they have just run or worked. During the next 2 days, her barn will get her ready to leave for Kentucky. ROSIE is on the Sunday morning Tex Sutton flight. The plane leaves very early in the morning…and even with the time change, she will be at Churchill Downs and settled comfortably into her stall by early afternoon.
Other horses, per the DAILY RACING FORM, are completing their final works during the next few days as well. YEAH! 7 days and counting. I’ll keep you posted on all of the news I hear as it develops!
As for ME, today I have Claire Novak coming from ESPN. I also have visitors coming from the V FOUNDATION. Then a reporter and TV crew from a local channel will be coming out to do a piece on ME. So, I have a rather busy, yet FUN FILLED, schedule today. I must say….I do enjoy all of this activity!
Good luck to all of the horses running around the country this weekend! There should be some very good handicapping opportunities!
I also want to send a HIGH HOOF to RAPID REDUX. 19 in a row! I can truly say…THAT IS ONE HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT! My heartfelt congratulations to this special horse and his connections!
Just thinking, next FRIDAY is MY PARTY! It’s getting close!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (Have a great weekend!)

Dear Zenyatta Good Morning!! It is cold here in Ohio. I ran in the snow flakes :( I love the Carousel. It is just Beautiful. I will show the children this post. They will think it is cool. Your family is so special. They make the world a better place for people. Please tell Dottie thank you for sharing all of these special times with us. I know we are all focusing on the BC. I would like to wish NO SPIN Good Luck today at Hawthorne and our dear MADAME MISTLETOE runs tomorrow at Hawthorne race 8. Good Luck to both of these Special Horses. I love you sweet Zenyatta. Happy Halloween. The children are so excited with all of it. I hope you and TT have a Great day. Hugs and many Kisses, Shari
@ GO MO GO!!!!!!
@ Dawn I will call you. Thank you for the Beautiful pictures :)
@ Trina thank you for my ecard. I just got it :)

The carousel is beautiful and will bring so much joy to children and families for years to come. Mr. and Mrs. Moss look great standing by Zenyatta.
@LauraJ- Thank you so much for identifying all the horses in the champions collage. I just could not bring up the names myself.
@Judy B- Best wishes for a quick turn around for your husband.
The last thing I saw last night before going to bed was that Cozi Rosie wouldn’t be going to the Breeders Cup. I feel badly for the Mosses and especially for Cozi. I hope it’s not serious or painful for her.
The first thing I saw when getting on the computer this morning was the weather forecast for the North Eastern states. Everybody up that way, stay warm, dry and safe.
LauraJ
@Madame Mistletoe, good luck and a safe trip.

Oops, I forgot. The ideas for the Zenyatta, Tasty T getaways are a hoot. Wish I could draw.
Everyone have a good weekend.

Can’t wait for Friday’s luncheon and the Races on Saturday, had to give up races on Friday to go to the luncheon, but at least I get to see you sweet girl even if it is via video, keep your hooves crossed I get to see you in the flesh, that would be a dream come true……Love you Zenny and can’t wait till the little Zenmeister comes along.

You are correct. Even any aerial shots of the area (if there are any) may lead to right location of Omaha’s burial spot. And right on about bones after centuries and centuries left undisturbed. So it is possible to find and relocate him for reburial. Thank you Diastu.

This is Mike Smith’s big chance to ride Zenyatta again!

@Everyone, TVG was discussing today the issue of racing on Lasix. My opinion is that Lasix should be banned. Tomorrow morning on The Works is the discussion of the WHIP. They showed Princes RA’s Woodward race and the count was 21 times that her rider hit her down the homestretch. I is GREAT that TVG is talking about this. I believe that we should have a “Whip Rule” as they do in England. I think it is so INHUMANE to whip horses around the track. I truly do believe that Rachel Alexandra never wanted to run again after that race. How do you all feel about horses running on Lasix and the whip rule?
Anakin
Wow. Lauraj thank you for identifying all members of the collage.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@Alex Bowdoin–many would agree with you on the whips and the Lasix.
@Trina–thank you for checking on Linda in NJ. Continued prayers for her, Russ, Kari, and DJ AND all horses running this weekend.
I noticed something this weekend. I am a big fan of PBR, and they are having their finals in Las Vegas this week. I noticed that before they start, they have an invocation and ask for safety for all the riders AND the bulls. (Of course the riders have to be half nuts!)

I cannot believe it has been almost one year since your official retirement. I just watched both the 2009 & 2010 BC and it brought tears to my eyes. You have done so much in retirement that it is difficult to believe how fast time has gone! One of your greatest attributes, is no matter if it is your past, your present or your future, it is guaranteed that you will fill our hearts with happiness and joy! You are one of America’s greatest…We are getting ready for the first snow, gotta go!
Hugs and Kisses

@ JudyB -the best wishes for Russ, hope he feels better soon. @ LindaJ – speedy recovery to you, make the best of the new tv. @ Diastu – Too Funny! @ JAG – the camcorder is now in my favorites. @ John Saddler – sorry for the bad week, lousy timing for all the wheels to fall off. @ LauraJ – great job on identifying all the pictures. @ All – just wanted to share that I love the new raincoat I got my dog last week. Dover Saddlery had a sale last week and for $8.99 I got a Riders turnoutsheet. What a difference with the normal junk that they make for dogs. After a half hour walk in the pouring rain in 36 degree weather, I had a nice dry dog ( don’t really care for 70 lbs. of wet stinky dog in the house) The biggest plus is that it doesn’t slide of to the side so the dog pees on the coat if you’re not fast enough straitening it. It also looks like you’re walking your own little horsey. http://equestrian.doversaddlery.com/search?dmi_offer_code=SITE&w=dog+blankets&x=12&y=9&idc=%5B%5BSLI_IDC%5D%5D&ids=541760080

Dear Barbara, Thank you for your concern and prayers! I am well, just very busy in my Order. I am a newly elected Council member and also involved in Formation of Novices. I have suddenly undergone a dramatic free-time diminishment! :) I found that I could not keep up with all of the wonderful “Z” happenings as well as my new obligations. My thoughts and prayers are still with my “Z” Friends though and I would like to check in for occasional well wishes and prayers!:)
DJ
For “Z” Friends who would like to share a prayer today:
Let us praise you, O Lord,
with voice and mind and deed;
and since life itself is your gift,
may all we have and all we are be yours.
Lord Bless us and keep us from all
harm, and lead us to eternal life.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@DJ– thank you for showing up and the prayer. That’ll be an excused absence!
Hugs.

Dear Z and Z Fans:
Russ is back home. They think he had a mild stroke and probably also a Viral Infection. He has been less and less mobile for a while now. He needs 24/7 care at this time and I want very much to try to keep him at home and care for him. Will check in every once and a while to say hello. Thank you all for your well wishes. Love all of you. Hugs, JB

OMAHA: Actually the ground penetrating radar used twice to locate *Noor’s grave found an anomoly but did Not locate *Noor. They spent several hours searching the Vet who put him down was also certain that was where he was. However Roxanne Frietas was there and her dad had told her where Noor was buried and when they finally went to the pont Roxanne counted off that is where they found him.
Now maybe the radar would help maybe not. It is possible the gentleman who did the scans maybe didn’t read the machine correctly I suppose and it looked to be a very old machine so who knows but they did find him.
Blueprints of the original bldgs. should still exist and might help. But if he is under a bldg. it proably won’t happen. I agree he should be buried in a better place.

@JAG: the web cam is great I’m really enjoying it so much. My friend works in the Hall of Champions I talked to him today and told him to give Cigar a big hug from me he said he would.

@judy berube – I hope you can keep Russ at home, but hopefully get some help with 24/7 care? I found that so draining, I had to get help from family, friends and whereever. And it sounds like you already know that mobility is so key – my mom certainly tried to keep hers, and I worked with her every day, but when it became too hard, her body wore down faster. My dad went through that, too.

Oh my adorable girl! What beautiful carousel, one more time I have to say that, your owners are so incredible people; I wish I can be there but in this moment is impossible for me to travel, but I want you to know my son and my grand son live in LA
I going to tell them to go to the zoo so they can see the carousel, love you Ingrid.
Ingrid Arnone. South Beach.
Dear Judy B, I am very sorry that Russ is not well, we have to pray for him God always listen to our prayers, I hope he gets better soon, hugs Ingrid.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@judy berube–love you, girl. Wish I lived closer.I’m glad you’re back home.
Would so love to help you.
@KikiSim–snow in VA in Oct–wow! I saw it on the tv (the WVa football game).
Debbie G/Kentucky
@Judy Berube – I’m so sorry that Russ isn’t feeling well. I know how hard it must be for you, too. Being the caretaker is so exhausting. I’m praying for strength and good health for both of you.
Heidi (Vallejo.Calif)
I love the thought of TT whisking Zenny away. I’m an artist mainly of the equines and that would be a fabulous subject to work on. Too funny! Thank you everyone for the links and articles about the Carousel. Love it! Jerry and Anne are amongst the greatest of owners there is and ever will be! Just like, Zenny, they are the gifts that keep giving. Big Hugs to the Mosses!
Sorry to hear the news on Cozy Rosie. I hope it’s nothing too serious.
JB, I hope for a good recovery for Russ.
Anyways, I’m currently working on a piece of Zenny and Mike. If you want to see some of my “work” visit me at FB. Heidi A. Kruckenberg.
