Good Morning,
Now, this is TOO CUTE! Here I am as one of the rides on the newly created childrens’ carousel at the Los Angeles Zoo.
Thursday, my dear owners attended the Zoo’s Press Conference to unveil the TOM MANKIEWICZ CONSERVATION CAROUSEL. The Moss’ were quite instrumental in the development of this project and it was with great joy that they attended yesterday’s event. Not only did they love seeing US…GIACOMO, TIAGO, ME, and the many other beautifully crafted animals…but they also wanted to honor their dear friend, TOM, for all of his hard work in helping to make this happen.
This carousel was truly meant to be something very special for all children and their families who visit the L. A. ZOO.
I’ve heard many of our “Z DUMPLINGS” are planning a trip there soon. Please keep us posted with the updates on your adventure!
As for other news, my pal, COZI ROSIE, had her final workout yesterday for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf Race. She breezed 7 furlongs in a nice and relaxed 1:27 and change. She will ‘walk today’ as part of her training routine. This is a very normal practice as most horses do have a very easy day of activity following a day they have just run or worked. During the next 2 days, her barn will get her ready to leave for Kentucky. ROSIE is on the Sunday morning Tex Sutton flight. The plane leaves very early in the morning…and even with the time change, she will be at Churchill Downs and settled comfortably into her stall by early afternoon.
Other horses, per the DAILY RACING FORM, are completing their final works during the next few days as well. YEAH! 7 days and counting. I’ll keep you posted on all of the news I hear as it develops!
As for ME, today I have Claire Novak coming from ESPN. I also have visitors coming from the V FOUNDATION. Then a reporter and TV crew from a local channel will be coming out to do a piece on ME. So, I have a rather busy, yet FUN FILLED, schedule today. I must say….I do enjoy all of this activity!
Good luck to all of the horses running around the country this weekend! There should be some very good handicapping opportunities!
I also want to send a HIGH HOOF to RAPID REDUX. 19 in a row! I can truly say…THAT IS ONE HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT! My heartfelt congratulations to this special horse and his connections!
Just thinking, next FRIDAY is MY PARTY! It’s getting close!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (Have a great weekend!)

Regarding “The Getaway” of Tasty and Zen ~ I sent a message to both artists last night. One has already done a rough sketch of the scenario ~ she loved the idea! LOL The other artist hasn’t replied thus far. TOO CUTE!

A lovely end to the week Zenny, beautiful photos of your very generous family and their gift to the zoo. What a lucky girl you are to have such wonderful owners who pass their love of horses along. I think YOU are about to dance and Giacomo is flying down the stretch. I am adding a ride on YOU to my list of things to do if I make it to BC 2012, no pears needed.
You are having a very busy time, all those visitors interviewing and filming you, it’s a bit hectic when you are such a celebrity, so have a nice relaxing day tomorrow. Have you and Tasty decided on your picks yet, I’m having such a hard time, but I would like to see Uncle Mo do well after the upsetting time he’s had over the last several months. Like Diana I just want everyone to be safe.
Enjoy your weekend with Tasty and stay warm and cosy.

That is the most awesome carousel EVER!!!! Cant wait for next Friday!!!

JAG……that was my first thought also….do you think they let big girls ride the carousel? That would be a dream come true!

This is cooler than cool! Now I can “actually” ride you! I saw a glimpse of the carousel on the news and saw a dark brown racehorse whizzing by, and I thought, “that should be Zenyatta.” Now I see that it is! I’m thrilled that Giacomo and Tiago are represented as well. Love you, Z!

@ Laura J – Thank you for the explanation on quarantine, it makes sense to me now. I guess they put all the European horses together in a separate area when they arrive and then keep them there when the quarantine period is over, easier than moving them all to another barn. Maybe they train together because they run the “wrong” way on the other side of the pond and it takes some adjustment to get them turned around or maybe it it just doesn’t bother them. The horse Vic rides definitely prefers one direction, clockwise, to the other. Such a lot to learn!!!

Have fun at your party! And good luck to all horses racing this weekend!!

The carousel pictures are just too great for mortal words! Thanks to all with their fingers and hearts on that project.
Have a great weekend all. I’m heading off to WashingtonDC for a week vacation; I hear weather tomorrow out there is rain/snow. OMG…that’s so not like around here! That’s part of the adventure tho…

Such a happy looking couple (Jerry & Ann) standing by the likeness of you. What a unique and special idea to have this carousel with you, Giacomo & Tiago on it.
Maybe I can ride all three of you if I can ever get out to CA.
I congratulate Rapid Redux for his 19 of 19. I do not know who he has raced against, or the grading of the races. But, it is a true accomplishment because of all the things that occurr on the race track. All I know though, Z, is how you just flew by big winning boys in your twentieth race. You did not have it easy out there. Mike finally found an opening & then you left them in the dust passing many from way behind. I was in awe with your amazing power, heart and speed. This is etched in my memory. You were the real winner out there in my book, plus you’ve been Miss Personality and you danced for us too! (Nothing to take away from Blame, but he had a straight run all the way by the rail.)
Your family is wonderful for thinking of children and families. God bless you all.
love you Z and 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z
p.s. have a super week-end!
zenyattaloveramy!
OMGS!!! I WOULD TOTALLY GO ON THOSE!!! thanks zeny for yet another awesome update! FROM YOUR BIGGEST FAN AMY.

I know where I’m going when I visit my dad in Corona over Veteran’s Day weekend! And I don’t care if I am too old–I’m riding the Z-ster on the carousel!
Yay!
I’ll see you on camera on Nov 4 first, though, Z, and am SO looking forward to that and the big party. It’s supposed to rain so it’ll be great to have such a lovely shelter in the KD Museum that day.
Love you always, Z.

There was nice coverage in the Daily News about the opening of the carousel. It sounds like a truly wonderful venture that will benefit the zoo for years to come! I can’t wait to see it up close and take lots of pictures! I know it is such a special thing….and a great way to honor such a wonderful man as Tom…..who has actually touched all our lives thru his screenwriting even if we aren’t so ffamiliar with his name. It is so very cool to honor the racehorses as well….thank you so much for the pictures Z!!!!

kudos and huge high hoofs to Rapid Redux!! The Tasty/Zenyatta getaway sketches is such a COOL idea – where in the world are Tasty and Zenyatta???! Making final plans for my BC viewing party and next year I hope to be at Santa Anita, plus now a trip to the LA Zoo — THANK YOU MOSSES for being just the way you are! I think the carousel music should include Trevor Denman’s “this is un-be-lieve-able – Zenyatta!!! what a performance – one we’ll never forget”. ain’t that the truth?!!!!
Katie Clawson
The BREEDERS’ CUP is upon us!! 7 days!! I wish I could come see you, Zenyatta :( When will fans be able to visit you?
Start you’re handicapping, Z! The Breeders’ Cup is here!
Love, Katie(future jockey)

To JAG and the Kennedys:
Judy, how terrific that you know artists working on that sketch.
Wny not show Zenny escorted by Tasty Temptation in a classic Cadillac convertable going to see her star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame? And the two starlets could stop by to see their old friends at Barn 55.
Thanks again. XOXOXO, Terri
Terri Z of So. Fla
JAG and the Kennedys:
In addendum, why not show Zenny and Tasty T sitting at the head table at the Breeders Cup Luncheon that they are going to host.
Thanks again and LOL.
Rosemary McCauley - Southern California
@JAG – great idea for sketches of Z and TT making a getaway. Z in a van looking out the window with sunglasses and a scarf flying around her neck as TT makes a fast exit sounds cute.
When I go to the zoo I am definitely taking a ride on Zenyatta, Giacomo and Tiago. What a great gift from the Mosses to the L.A. Zoo and all who attend. It will bring joy to many for years to come. They have proven many, many times what generous, kind hearted people they are. We are blessed to have gotten to know them in this special way.
Please keep us posted on the Claire Novak’s ESPN interview with you.
Terri Z of So. Fla
JAG and Kennedys and all Zenny fans:
Why not a picture of all of the great mares and fillys on the phone lines to each other. They can share their stories of how they beat the pants off of all those top rated boys.
Marilu V.
Hi Zeny and Dottie: What great pictures of the Moss’ and the carousel. I am planning to join the Z group on Nov 6th, weather permitting. I live over an hour away. Day light Savings Time ends Sunday November 6th. Z Dumplings do not forget to change your time. Zeny, hugs to you and Tasty! Marilu
Kim
Zenny-what local TV station is doing the piece on you? I don’t want to miss it.
Love you Big Mare!
Elaine
I have to take my granddaughter to the carousel so she can ride the great Zenyatta!

Hi, Z…Almost time for the Breeders Cup and your party! So much going on, but there is a noticeable hole that you left for this event. You were such a part of this great championship event….3 years! I think only Goldikova and possibly Awesome Gem raced as much or more during the BC! Your legacy shines, though, as articles, replays or your races, are all tributes to your special place for this event and the esteem those in the sport hold for you. A really sweet and special story appeared today at Horse Racing Nation: http://www.horseracingnation.com/blogs/Bluegrass/BC_Classic_Upset_Zenyatta_loses_by_a_nose_to_Blame_in_2010_BC_Classic_123

Then yesterday, Bob Ehalt with Thoroughbred Times had a “what if” matchup between you and Havre de Grace!

Rapid Redux is such a fun horse to watch and you are so gracious to welcome him into the arena with you and Peppers Pride. The connections for Rapid Redux have been very careful to say they don’t in any way compare their horse to your achievements… but I think it’s grand that even though his talents and abilities are being run at the lowest rungs of the sport, he has still achieved something that few horses have been able to do, either at the bottom or the top level of the sport! He’s been a “Cinderella” horse, or the Blue Collar Horse! As lovers of the sport, we embrace all levels of accomplishment by all horses.

Miss you bunches! Hugs! Ann Maree
