Training at Hollywood Park.

Good Morning,

I hope you are all doing well…and your week is off to a splendid beginning!

In our thoroughbred world, the pre-entries were taken yesterday for the World Championship Racing Days which take place this year on November 4th and 5th at Churchill Downs. Next year, they will be at Santa Anita again in California. (I remember it ALL so well!)

Tomorrow the fields for each specific race will be announced. Then…let the handicapping and analysis begin.

My Moss pal, COZI ROSIE, is preparing for the Filly and Mare Turf. This race will take place late Friday afternoon. (The same day as MY PARTY!) Cozi is currently training at Hollywood Park and will take a flight this weekend to Churchill Downs.

I must say, the horse transportation crews have the schedules so well-organized. Their flight plans and times are very specific as they must be sure all of the horses planning to participate in these races from around the world are able to get to Churchill Downs on time. It is one of the many things that takes place ‘behind the scenes’…so to speak…but must be done perfectly for the benefit of all the competing horses and their staffs.

My Barn 55 friends are also preparing at Hollywood Park and will fly to Kentucky later this weekend. My dear friend and personal masseuse for years, Michelle, took the above video of MR. COMMONS while on the track during his morning exercise. Jacqueline is riding!

MEMORIES, MEMORIES! I can’t imagine how many times I went around that oval at Hollywood Park while training during my career! It is SO GREAT to see it again!

    Thanks Zenny for the video of Mr Commons he is such a cutie! Hope he and Cozy Rosie have a safe and successful race, we don’t need any more horses injured. I was saddened to hear about Tizway getting injured and being retired. He is a great horse and would have had an excellent chance to win. Another good one bites the dust!!
    @D Stuart glad you are back, sure wish you were going to Z’s party I’d love to meet the Dumpling Queen.

    Arabians, Bernies head does not really look like
    That to me. However, he is more dislike as a TB, but
    Almost now as he gets older looks like a parrot
    With his upper lip protruding. I am not really fond
    Of Arabians, too hot and unpredictable, hard to
    Connect with.

    Sad news about Tizway but he will be going on to a new way of life at Spendthrift.
    @ Barbara Wood – I’m sure that Tizway will be happy at Spendthrift, it’s a very nice farm.

    So sorry to hear of Tizway’s injury/retirement.
    @JAG — Thanks for the Azeri link. Like Zenyatta, we visited her often when she trained at San Luis Rey Downs and later with Wayne Lukas at Santa Anita. I even got to feed Azeri mints (her favorite) in her paddock — just the two of us — she off the lead. And, of course, I fell in love with her.

    Just an observation, Zenny. If you were in the BC this year you’d take them by at least 5 lengths. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

    Hi – loved the video of Mr. Commons – he is gorgeous. I bet all this excitement brings back so many memories for you – the Ladies Classic and the Classic. Wow, there will never be another champion as awesome as you! I know you and TT will be just perfect for your party, as always. Good luck and safe trip to Cozi Rosie and all horses and humans participating in these great two days of championship racing. Sorry to hear that Tiznow has been injured. It seems that quite a few of a champions have been injured these past few weeks and will not be able to participate – so sad. Love you big girl, stay comfy, eat well for two and enjoy your friends.     Dottie: You too are a classy lady in promoting our Zenyatta you also promote the sport. You do countless things people don’t even know about. You are gracious and kind I personally appreciate the things you have done. Like Mrs. DuPOnt, Penny Chenery and Mrs. Jackson you are a credit to the sport. Every one who has ever met you knows that. I’ve never met you but I know some of the wonderful things you have done. Thank you always.
