Happy Friday to ALL!
I so hope all of you are well…and our friends who needed some of our ‘special thoughts’ earlier this week are doing better!
Recently, I have spent some time outdoors with Matt contemplating so many different things. On Saturday, BLACK CAVIAR is competing in the G2–Schweppes Stakes at Moonee Valley Racecourse. She is going for her 15th victory in a row…with the hope of becoming 15 for 15. Here’s wishing her a safe and successful trip! This is quite an accomplishment to achieve the first 14 victories…so all the best to her!
Then in America, we have some wonderful races taking place over the next few days. New York has their Showcase Day on Saturday. The Breeders’ Cup prep events are concluded and we are now gearing up for the Pre-Entries to be taken on Monday morning. It is getting quite exciting!
The majority of horses preparing to run in the World Championship races will probably have 2 more workouts before their BIG DAY! So much needs to be organized and planned in advance so each horse is RIGHT ON TARGET to do his/her best when competing in these events!
As for my dear pal, ZAZU, she will not be participating in the Ladies’ Classic this year. After she breezed the other morning, she had an inflammation in her right shoulder area. The proper tests were performed. It was discovered very quickly and she will be 100% soon. She simply needs some RNR at this time. Zazu will be out of her regular training routine for about 90 days. During that time, she will be hand-walked a couple times each day and enjoy a well-deserved and relaxing vacation.
We thoroughbred horses are athletes…no different than humans. Sometimes, we are not quite ourselves, for one reason or another. Fortunately, we have wonderful people around us who pick up on this very quickly…and the proper measures are taken to be sure we will be fine.
The technology today is also at such a high level. The veterinarians and vet hospitals have machines that can evaluate the different parts of a horse’s body to see exactly what is going on with specific bones and muscles. The level of sensitivity that these machines can analyze and detail is quite amazing. The constant growth and progress in this aspect of the industry truly amazes ME!
Relax and have a fun weekend! As for ME, I’m resting up for MY PARTY. It takes place exactly 2 weeks from today!
With Love,
Hugs to All,
Z

We love you ZENYATTA & Baby ZB!! We are soooo excited about your BC Party in less than 2 wks!!!! Thank you TEAM Z for all your hard work and dedication to the Z fans!!!

Loved Haskin’s “Girls Gone Wild” article. In this Bloodhorse report, he puts forth the question of whether the females are getting stronger or the males weaker. I think we know the answer to that one, don’t we Zenyatta. Sweet Dreams.
Lynn from nearby Hollywood Park
Hi Z,
So many links to see. Thanks to all that post them.
Zazu, get better and heal, cause I love seeing you race at S.Anita.
And WOW, Black Caviar! She wasn’t even whipped to get that big win.!! ^^^
Today I was at Hidden Valley Ranch (Calif), I was kiss’n and hugging horses. I saw someone’s giant 18 hand warmblood show horse. Wow, 2 inches taller than You Z! And this is the original ranch where TRIGGER lived at one time. The ranch is about 15 mins from my house.
The photo of Rachel is lovely, she looks great. Nice that fans can visit her. Maybe we can visit with you next year, Z.
I love you so very much Z.

Sister Moon ran today at Santa Anita and finished 2nd in the Anoakia Stakes! I posted some photos of her on YOUR Facebook page. I got one where she is in almost the same pose I caught YOU in so many times in the walking ring; it brought back great memories!
Delrene from Carlsbad, Ca
@Trina – Thanks and it looks like some others had greater success sending a link!
Congratulations Sister Moon and to the other ladies in racing.

Wonderful article by Steve Haskin. Yes girl power rules.

@diastu–so sorry for the passing of your dear aunt. I’m glad she made it to 101, though. Condolences to the family as well.
@Sharon in Seattle–were you at the Oaklawn 2010? So was I. No telling how many of us could have met that day, had we known.

@Delrene from Carlsbad, thank you for this link to Secretariats last footage. It was VERY touching indeed. Sally (Wi)

You were at 2010 Oaklawn race to!! My husband was getting angry with me because all afternoon I would not leave the rail to bet or get refreshments or anything. ha ha It was sure worth being at the rail wasn’t it? There were sure an enormous amount of Z fans-it was the best.

Glad to hear that Zazu will be back to 100% soon.
In addition to Black Caviar going for her 15th victory in a row on Saturday, another special equine athlete, RAPID REDUX will be trying to win his 19th in a row this Thursday at Laurel Park. Although he is not in the same class as you dear Zenyatta, his accomplishments are quite amazing – 18 straight wins in distances from five furlongs to 1 1/8 miles – all these wins were in less than 1 year!
DRF-Rapid Redux will seek record 19th in row at Laurel on Thursday

Dottie, love the pasture pictures of Zenyatta, but could we have a picture of her in her stall at Lanes End? Would be cute if we could see a picture of Zenyatta Skyping with Ann Moss. You are an original, Zenny and we love you soooo much.
Linda E (Ohio)
@Eveline-Thanks for posting link to such an uplifting video of the 101 year young lady who continues to ride & enjoy horses. The story was on Stacy Westfall’s site. She is the lady who rides bareback & bridleless. She just won this years Freestyle Reining at the Quarter Horse Congress. Performance is now on youtube.
@Doreen-loved the Rachel Alexandra blog and photo. Plus I enjoyed the Black Caviar race! Mare Power!
@Delrene-Secretariat’s last film footage brought tears to my eyes. Such a magnificent horse.
@All-Thanks for all the links. Now I need to find the time to go thru them all….

Thanks for posting link to TC retirement.
I heard hot off press before written and sometimes
Things change. Looking forward to hearing when carnival
Day will be. One is never to old to ride a merry go
Round. The Mosses are really such a wonderful
Couple, so generous, kind, caring and yet competitive.
Love Ann’s comment after Z lost the 2010 BC. So very
True about Zenny.

Blessings to you, Zenny, and to Zazu’s Trainer, Team and Owners for taking extra special care for her health and safety just as they did for you.

@Linda E—Thanks for reminding us about Stacy Westfall–her riding is phenomenal!

so happy for Black Caviar as she is doing fantastic. And am heartbroken for Zazu being that she has shoulder inflammation that will keep her from being able to run in the BC races this yr. But just so long as she will be better soon and we will be looking for her healthy return when the time is right for her. Sending healing wishes along with my Love and Blessings.
Looks as if you are keeping up with things well and are looking forward to your party soon. Wish’d I could be there but unfortunately not a possibility. Sure hope that there will be pics taken and shared with us all. You take care my dear sweet Zenyatta, there is no one like you and just thinking of you makes me smile and feel happy. Sending my love and blessings with hugs to you!

Dear Zenny,
Hope you are having a great day. Getting ready for your party and making sure your calendar is up to date. Love your fall look in that custom made sweater. Looking forward to the BC and
watching your friends run. Sorry to hear about Zazu, but she had a hard race in the Lady’s Secret and she is a young horse. So good that John Sadler has great diagnostic equipment as this disposal. XXXXXXOOOOO Happy Sunday in the paddock with TT.
She is still a young filly, at least until January 2012 and a great racing career ahead of her. She is really coming into her own.

Loved the Silver Charm Photos from Japan. He is really a character, feeding time has its pecking order and he wanted to make sure
the groom knew he should have been first. Love the banging of the bowl. TOO CUTE!!
