Happy Monday Everyone,
We have just completed another very exciting weekend of racing with many full fields and competitive events. Congratulations to all of the winners and their connections! To win a race at any level is a big accomplishment…and to win a graded stake is truly something to be cherished.
I sincerely want to send a HIGH HOOF to FRANKEL for his victory on Saturday at Ascot. It is with great respect that I want to congratulate him on his undefeated record that is now 9 for 9. This wonderful colt is competing at the highest level in our sport….and his continued success is something to be treasured!
While at Keeneland, MY JOHN visited with TIGER again….the adorable pony in this photo. Tiger was there last year with his connections when MY JOHN went to Keeneland to run Harmonious. He is laughing here as it reminds him that ALL HORSES ARE “TOO CUTE”. They simply come in various shapes and sizes blessed with different capabilities and goals! This thought is so true…and can be applied to so many different aspects in all levels of life.
Just thinking…only 18 days until Breeders’ Cup….and this means….only 18 days until MY PARTY. Wow! This is all so exciting. Also, I can’t wait to share with YOU what MY JOHN whispered in my ear when we visited.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Tiger is adorable. Little Silver Charm has better hair, though.

Snowman (JAG): I remember this horse! I was a kid showing junior open jumpers, and he won every class in the regular division! He was big and hunky and a total love! I’m not sure, but I think Harry de Leyer went on to be part of the Olympic team.

I’m not going to say “too cute” or “high hooves” etc. I’m going to say: Zenyatta should be at Churchill right now, getting used to the surface and getting ready to take back the BC Classic Crown. Not pregnant in a field. I have racing mares, and have seen mares older than Zenyatta still run and WIN. We all know Zenyatta could have run this year with great sucess and break every record there is. She is NOT that old that she had to be retired, especially on a nose loss. Who made that decision? We miss her, she belongs where she loved to do her thing; at the track. Look how she loved to dance and then do things that we have never seen the likes of before. Only one female, Ruffian, would have been able to match or top it. How many of you miss watching Queen Z on tv running so beautifly, with her tail flagged out behind her and then pouring it on at the end?! I’d bet every one of you. There was no reason to retire her unless she was unsound and she did not look like it to me. And she had plenty of years yet to have foals, just not now. She was taken from us way too soon. Has anyone or should I say, any ‘regular’ fan been able to get in and see her yet? I appreciate the photos on this site and all, but there is nothing compared to watching her enjoy herself on the track, where she still belongs. Z, come back, you are so missed. You gave racing something to look forward to, now you are hidden behind the gates of a farm. :(

Everytime I see the end of last years BC, I get choked up. That was her race. I too would still love to see her race, however i would rather her be strong and healthy. Look at Secretariat and Sea Biscuit who were raced over and over and over and died of a very painful death. The Moss’s love her too much to let anything happen to her.
Can’t wait to hear what John’s secret is. I hope it is that you will be at Churchill Downs.
See ya’ll at the BC
Love , hugs and kisses

Speechless about the photo! Totally made my day!
@Trisha…I too get teary eyed watching last year’s BC video & I doubt any of Zen’s fans would deny that if they had an opportunity to see Z race again, it would be a dream come true…but, like you, we would not want this to be at the risk of her being injured etc.
As they say, everything has a time and place & Zenyatta did what she was born to do & revitalized the horse racing nation & beyond. She now has a new purpose in a new time and place. She will never be forgotten.
Hugs & Kisses

Congrats to Frankel, a truly amazing horse and spectacular horse. So fitting that he is named after Bobby Frankel. This picture of John with Tiger is adorable!!! Too cute for sure!!! Thanks for posting it Dottie/Zenny. Thanks for the links everyone. Teresa E, Zenyatta’s connections should not have waited until she was “unsound” to retire her. The goal was to do exactly the opposite. The people who made the decision to retire her are the people who know her best: Jerry and Ann Moss, John and Dottie Shirreffs. That is their perogative and IMO the right decision. She had done enough. As for “regular” fans being able to get in and see her, lets be realistic here. She doesn’t live in a zoo. She is in foal, while she is fairly young. Her well-being is paramount. Being on view to busloads of people, while in foal, is not a good idea. She is happy, healthy and ENJOYING her life. That trumps everything else. We should be very happy and grateful for what Jerry and Ann Moss did do, which was keep her racing one more year longer than you see most horses race.

PS @the Kennedys! Was Ebby’s presence as significant as Z! Just from the photos of her, you can see her inner strength, just like her big sis! How great for you to be able to see her…

NOTHING topped the races in Great Britain, Canada and America this weekend more than seeing Zenny and TT on NBC. TOO CUTE and then some! John was wonderful and the best “Walking Z” ad around. Don’t ever lose that hat, John!
Every race was fun to watch, of course – but those two beauties striding around their paddock at LE was the best.
The other day my husband asked what I wanted for our 48th anniversary. My response: Zenyatta in our back yard, please!
DJ
Oh! That is just the cutest picture of both “YOUR JOHN” and “TIGER!” Thank you sweet “Z” for the smiles! Too Precious and Too Cute! Always, DJ
Joanna
@ Alex – Ascot is a beautiful track and has the best racing, can highly recommend a visit, although I think it is much more expensive than the US courses. Top price on Saturday was UK£41!! Worth every penny as the racing is superb
JAG / California :-)
I forgot one other important thing to share! On Saturday I got to see Jerry Moss in the paddock with Dottie pior to CLOUD MAN’s race… I yelled: “Hello! Welcome back, Jerry!” He smiled (probably though, oh dear, there’s that woman again!) LOL

@all: I too will recommend The $80 Champion. A story of a special bond between man and horse, hard work and more.
You looked beautiful and happy in the tv segment with Your John. Can’t wait to know what he whispered in your pretty ears! John with Tiger, too cute!

What an adorable pic of John and Tiger, absolutely too cute for sure! Sure looking forward to the Breeders’ Cup races but this yr won’t have the excitement and electricity that it has had for the past few yrs when you were there Zenyatta. You will truly be missed. Sure hope that you are doing well, think of you each and every day. Love you lots and lots and wishing you all the best that that life has to offer. Sending my Love & Blessings with lots of hugs!
