Happy Friday to ALL!
It is another wonderful time for our sport this weekend. The programs in our country are highly contested. Then at Ascot, their weekend card features the inaugural British Champions Day. The race which will truly create a great deal attention is the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes–G1. FRANKEL is entered to run in this one mile turf event. He is going for his 9th straight victory while remaining undefeated! The feeling of anticipation and excitement surrounding this wonderful 3 year old colt is something to be enjoyed and embraced by all of racing.
FRANKEL…by Galileo (GB) out of Kind…is owned and bred by Juddmonte Farms. As a 2 year old, he performed beautifully in his races…so much so that he was awarded the honor of being the 2010 European Champion 2 year old colt.
As a 3 year old, he has continued to develop and mature at a very high level. As of August 5, 2011, he was ranked #1 in the World Thoroughbred Rankings!
This is truly an achievement of great pride and respect!
Other 3 year old stakes will be running this weekend in our country. In California, the Oak Tree Derby runs on Saturday and the Harold C. Ramser, Sr. (fillies) on Sunday! Then at Keeneland, we have the Queen Elizabeth Challenge Cup on Saturday for 3 year old fillies. This is one FUN TIME of the year to be 3!
HERE’S WISHING THE VERY BEST TO ALL OF THE HORSES AND THEIR CONNECTIONS!
Enjoy your handicapping and your weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

PS. I know what MY JOHN did yesterday! I’ll share it with YOU next week! He said it was VERY SPECIAL and I’D BE SO PROUD!

Dear Signofthetimes:
Thank you for all the wonderful links. How about that Frankel. Hugs, JB

Dear Z Fans:
Hope I did not offend or upset any of you by talking about Thoroughbred Retirement Funds. Wanted to answer Sunny Boyd’s question as best I could. When I hear about a horse in Turkoman’s situation, I really feel there is a absolute need for Retirement Funding to be mandatory in the Industry. Just my opinion for the welfare of the horses. Hugs, JB

I cannot find today’s interview of John anywhere online. Can anyone give me some help in finding it? Thanks.
Peggy (N)
@Judy Berube, Hi, my friend. You sure have not offended me with your posts. Your posts are great and right on Target. We have to say things when sometimes we see things that are wrong. And I think sometimes if we can just help one pet or well anything that needs helping. That’s “One” that maybe we’ve even saved a life, what if everyone did that. I feel like you do about the situation of horses getting Older and people not caring about them or them not being as good as maybe they once were. I hope that we can help that situation.
I thought that Candi’s response eariler here was just beautiful it sounded really from the heart. And, yes as she said the Lord from above is watching.
Peggy (N)
@Everyone,if anyone knows where you can get that Interview from NBC, please post it here. I was watching the races on TVG.

@Judy B,I have been away for a while, and have not caught up on the past weeks posts. Started at the bottom tonight, but I can not imagine that anything you would post would be offensive.

Can someone fill me in on Turkoman? I missed something…

Hi Jeanie,
I posted about my meeting Turkoman this past week. He is living at E A Ranches, a wonderful facility. The syndicate that owns him will not pay the $25 a day for his board there. So the farm manager and the Our Mims Foundation supplement the rest of the board money to keep him there. He lives in a beautiful, large pasture and has very good care. He looks wonderful for 29. Since the owner of the ranch died in 2010 there is no telling what could happen to the ranch. For now, it is still running and supporting itself from the training, layups, etc. So Turkoman is safe, thanks to a couple of very caring people. I don’t think he is in any danger of getting lost under the radar. Too many of us know where he is and are keeping track of him. And the manager there loves him and will always have his best interest at heart.
I personally know Michael Blowen because my sister and I worked with Old Friends in the very beginning. We were the ones who found Creater and Sunshine Forever in Japan and helped bring them back to the US. I know that Michael Would take Turkoman in a heartbeat should that need ever arise. But Turk is very happy where he is and hopefully will live out the rest of his years at E A Ranches.

You know, Zenyatta, YOU should be at Keeneland in the barn getting ready to run and do your thing that you excelled at on the track: win! Not pregnant locked away from all of us fans that love you. None of these horses running today could beat you. And had you had just one more stride you would be a two time winner of the BC Classic.
There are other mares your age still running and I (and all of us) could tell you LOVED the track and were not ready to quit yet. I wish your team would have made a different decision instead of taking you away to a breeding farm only to be bred year after year after year. We miss you. There will not be another like you so why couldn’t they have let you enjoy yourself some more???? Perhaps the ‘team’ could enlighten us some????
And, has anyone gotten in to visit you at Lane’s End yet? Are YOU going to be at the party or stuck back at the farm? What about an appearance at Keeneland, to parade there and let the regular people that love you get to see you again.
Just a thought that I’m sure many would love to see. You are missed. Come back Queen Z!

@Bonnie, that link didn’t work. Any other suggestions? Many thanks.

The horse, Joe Carl, that Mike Smith is riding in the first race today ran here at Arapahoe Park. Sometimes horses who run here can do well at other tracks because their lung capacity has expanded due to the high altitude here. I even fantasized about Shackleford training here to improve his lung capacity for the longer races. I know, that’s very far fetched on many planes.
I saw John’s interview in conjunction with the coverage of the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes yesterday. I loved the short live shots of Zenyatta and Tasty T. in their paddock. I especially enjoyed seeing them trotting side by side across the ground. They are close friends for sure. It would really be something if their foals were born on the same day since they were both bred on the same day.
Zenyatta’s party isn’t too far off. My guess is that John’s special project the other day was somehow connected to that. We’ll find out soon.
Everyone have a good week ahead.
tony
Zenny, I’m another who would like to see the video from yesterday of you with John. Maybe you can arrange for YOUR John to put it here for all of us to view…hint, hint.

A Birthday Poem for Deborah Richman
(Birthday–October 18)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your birthday
Is just two days away,
So it’s a safe bet
You’re celebrating today
On your trip to Santa Anita.
Z-sters, if you see her
Please be sure to greet her.
She’ll have her Dumpling tag
On proud display
On her chest
To stand out from the rest.
Deborah, we wish you all the best,
And these wishes send
(Let’s all chime in!):
May all your horses win,
May no “nag”
(No disrespect I intend)
At the wire lag.
May each thrilling race
Be the base
Of a perfect day,
And make the toes curl
Of our soon-to-be birthday girl!
Tomorrow we hope you’ll not fail
To tell us the tale
Of what you saw at the rail.
For you, dear Deborah,
We all cheer HOORAH!
May your birthday
Be super special!
Joyce Groth
