Happy Friday to ALL!
It is another wonderful time for our sport this weekend. The programs in our country are highly contested. Then at Ascot, their weekend card features the inaugural British Champions Day. The race which will truly create a great deal attention is the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes–G1. FRANKEL is entered to run in this one mile turf event. He is going for his 9th straight victory while remaining undefeated! The feeling of anticipation and excitement surrounding this wonderful 3 year old colt is something to be enjoyed and embraced by all of racing.
FRANKEL…by Galileo (GB) out of Kind…is owned and bred by Juddmonte Farms. As a 2 year old, he performed beautifully in his races…so much so that he was awarded the honor of being the 2010 European Champion 2 year old colt.
As a 3 year old, he has continued to develop and mature at a very high level. As of August 5, 2011, he was ranked #1 in the World Thoroughbred Rankings!
This is truly an achievement of great pride and respect!
Other 3 year old stakes will be running this weekend in our country. In California, the Oak Tree Derby runs on Saturday and the Harold C. Ramser, Sr. (fillies) on Sunday! Then at Keeneland, we have the Queen Elizabeth Challenge Cup on Saturday for 3 year old fillies. This is one FUN TIME of the year to be 3!
HERE’S WISHING THE VERY BEST TO ALL OF THE HORSES AND THEIR CONNECTIONS!
Enjoy your handicapping and your weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

PS. I know what MY JOHN did yesterday! I’ll share it with YOU next week! He said it was VERY SPECIAL and I’D BE SO PROUD!

Did anyone watch The Queen Elizabeth Challenge today on NBC? Showed John being interviewed wearing his “Z” hat, also with him at the farm with Zenyatta and TT. She raised her right rear leg in excitement as he fed her a treat. Too cute. Nice video. So glad I recorded it. Zenyatta was mentioned several times as they the Keeneland track and horse sales.
Molly
Zenyatta, do you know what happened to the jockey and Irish horse that tripped in the last race at Keeneland today? Looked like the jockey took quite a spill, but no replay, which I can understand.

Hi All,
Just catching up after watching some excellent racing, especally seeing our gal Nereid dig in for a respectable third in the QEII. I was sorry Winter Memories didn’t do so well…guess it just wasn’t her day.
@Peggy One, I have to stick up for Barbara on this one. I’ve heard form some time that JH has a bad rep for how he treats his horses after they are no longer useful to him. I’ve heard it from a couple of different people. Figured that’s why it took so long for him to get into the Hall. And I also think @Terry Crow is on to something re: JH ducking out from under BL to avoid scrutiny. On a purely positive note: I am so happy the California Horse Racing Board is upholding the NY ban against Rick Dutrow. We don’t need him here in CA. I’m going to call CHRB Monday and thank them. Hoping to hear more positive on HC Frazier in the next few days. Take care, everyone. j

Z looks beautiful and very happy at LE….
I am so pleased that John got to spend some time with her….Congrat’s to the connections of Frankel…he ran a very nice race. Hugs to all! Enjoy the rest of the weekend…

@Sharon Call…I hope you see this…Loved your reminiscing about Zen’s 2010 Breeders’ Cup. I have watched that race many times, and I’ve written about it myself, but, I think one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever read that truly said what so many of us felt, right after that valiant effort, was posted as a comment on Steve Haskin’s blog of Nov. 11, 2010, by a gentleman by the name of Dominic Campisi: http://db.tt/dxSkBQI7
Let me know what you think of this piece. I formatted it, but the words are Mr. Campisi’s.

Can’t wait to find out what John’s surprise is.

Zenny, love you, miss you like crazy, hugs to you and ‘baby z/b’!!! Ann Maree

P.S. Thought I would post the last paragraph of the piece I put a link to in my just previous comment, re Zenny’s 2010 BCC race:
–
“It took all odds against her and a perfect race to beat her. Don’t you hate it when someone lucks out and doesn’t have to answer for being wrong? Today in
this sports moment we lost perfection but we gained greatness. It’s about what
we call in sports of having the heart to overcome impossible odds and not so
much about winning but to give it your all and giving it your best. We should all
remember this day for Zenyatta never giving up and giving it all she had. Again, one lost stride for perfection. But the heart that made her the Greatest Filly of all Time.” Written by Dominic Campisi 11/6/10 Posted 11/11/2010 7:01 p.m. at Steve Haskin’s blog.

Zenyatta, hoping that Irish Exchange and his jockey are OK after their nasty spill in the 10th Race at Keeneland today. I am so glad that Mike Smith kept you safe and sound. Sweet Dreams and a kiss on your soft nose.

Thanks Ann Maree for that Dominic Campisi piece. I was glad to read it again.
After Zenyatta’s valiant effort, so many of her detractors sang her praises–
including Andrew Beyer.
Incidentally, Zenyatta caught Blame after the wire. And Steve Haskin thought that the lights might have confused her; as she had always magically known where the finish line was in every race. The lights and mud in her eyes, and being boxed in as Quality Road was being pulled back were all factors. And Haskins thought the lights also were in a factor in Quality Road’s poor finish.

Rick Dutrow is the just the tip of the iceberg. The whole Life At Ten poor trip and her wobbly behavior at the Breeders Cup last year was covered up.
That she wasn’t tested after the race was reprehensible. And what’s really disgraceful, this was at the Breeders Cup at Churchill Downs.
Speaking of Churchill Downs, Giacomo’s sire, Holy Bull, won 2 of the three legs of the Triple Crown. And his trainer swore that someone had gotten to him with a sleeping med or traquillizer at Churchill Downs. He woke up the day of the Kentucky Derby like he was drugged and he could not run his usual race.
Several years ago, one of the jockeys were found floating in a canal at Calder Race Track. There is more to this than we know.
Barbara Wood
That’s one reason I didn’t want to go. I thought the lights made for an unnatural atmosphere. I understand it was a great success earlier in the year, but by November, it is cold.

Hello Precious Zenny,
It was Awesome to see your John being interviewd today on NBC while they were covering the Keenland races. The best part was when they showed short videos of you at LE. You are looking soooo Beautiful. And I must say that Tasty is looking good too. I hsd a perma grin for the rest of the day even though I didn’t win any of my bets for the day. Always enjoy seeing pics and videos of you!!! Miss YOU soooo Much!! Love YOU OOOXXX
Shari Voltz
Dear Zenyatta, Hi Sweet Girl. I watched the races today from Keeneland. They were on our regular station and I was so glad. You were on too. I cried when I saw you because you just look so beautiful and happy. LE is taking such good care of you and I am so glad. I saw John’s interview and him with you :) I miss writing but I have a lot of homework now. I still sing your song everyday and talk to you in my head when I run. You are just so special sweetie. I love you so much as does everyone on this site. I hope you and Tasty have a good night. Sending you many Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO
@ I really enjoyed the Giacomo video. He is so Beautiful. I want to see him next summer.
@ Dawn we need to see Giacomo :)

PEGGY ONE-While I certainly respect your right to your opinion, wouldn’t it be better to use assertiveness and tactfulness rather than aggressiveness. Your attacks on Barbara Grimaldi and Judy Berube seemed way out of line to me.
And, your insinuation that having been involved in racing since 1960 makes your knowledge infallible is fallacious.
Sunny Boyd
Good evening TV Star,
I saw you & T. T. in your paddock prancing around today. And your John was being interviewed. It was swell, so nice to see you again, actually it was three times in today’s footage of the Queen’s race. It’s always nice to hear your name mentioned, too. Sleep tight and dream sweet

Oh, Zenny, all the recounts of your 2010 BC race just make me realize how very special you are. For everyone who posted their thoughts, thank you. She truly is one of a kind, a rare and beautiful creature created by the heavens. I dare say we won’t see another like her in our lifetimes.
Orca123
Glad to hear you’re a Frankel fan, too, Zenny! :D

Finally found an update on Irish Exchange. Sounds like the horse is OK. The jockey can move his arms and legs but is complaining of hip pain. Zenyatta I missed John’s interview, but will try to find it on NBC or YouTube. Hope I can visit with you some day. Take care.

Dear Peggy One:
Could you let me know where you got these numbers. Here is the link to The Jockey Club where I got my info. Will be happy to stand corrected if your figures are mandatory fees going toward Thoroughbred retirement. Hugs, JB
