Happy Friday to ALL!
It is another wonderful time for our sport this weekend. The programs in our country are highly contested. Then at Ascot, their weekend card features the inaugural British Champions Day. The race which will truly create a great deal attention is the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes–G1. FRANKEL is entered to run in this one mile turf event. He is going for his 9th straight victory while remaining undefeated! The feeling of anticipation and excitement surrounding this wonderful 3 year old colt is something to be enjoyed and embraced by all of racing.
FRANKEL…by Galileo (GB) out of Kind…is owned and bred by Juddmonte Farms. As a 2 year old, he performed beautifully in his races…so much so that he was awarded the honor of being the 2010 European Champion 2 year old colt.
As a 3 year old, he has continued to develop and mature at a very high level. As of August 5, 2011, he was ranked #1 in the World Thoroughbred Rankings!
This is truly an achievement of great pride and respect!
Other 3 year old stakes will be running this weekend in our country. In California, the Oak Tree Derby runs on Saturday and the Harold C. Ramser, Sr. (fillies) on Sunday! Then at Keeneland, we have the Queen Elizabeth Challenge Cup on Saturday for 3 year old fillies. This is one FUN TIME of the year to be 3!
HERE’S WISHING THE VERY BEST TO ALL OF THE HORSES AND THEIR CONNECTIONS!
Enjoy your handicapping and your weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

PS. I know what MY JOHN did yesterday! I’ll share it with YOU next week! He said it was VERY SPECIAL and I’D BE SO PROUD!

Hi there Zenny, Dottie & Zen-sters:
YOU ARE RIGHT, big girl. A GREAT racing weekend ahead. On HRTV tomorrow, from 9-11 AM (our time) the focus is on Champions Day. True, Frankel is a UK heart-throb. But the GREAT So You Think is also racing tomorrow, as are Midday & Twice Over AND the AMAZING Nathaniel. Finally, let’s not forget about Snow Fairy. What an AMAZING filly. Like So You Think, she’s just home from running (third) in the ARC in France and seems to be game to go it again against the boys. I would LOVE to see her win, Zenny. She’s got a heart as big as yours and deserves to outrun one of the “big boys.” Send her good karma, sweet girl.
Kisses to Zenny & Baby ZeeBee & love to all.

@Lois–did you get to meet Einstein when you were at Adena? I believe that’s where he is.
Dear Z–you have to know we are all crazy about you. The more I learn, the more I admire OUR JOHN and all of Team Z who could have rushed things and forced you too early, but were patient and kind. They were repaid for that kindness by YOUR kindness to others. What we sow, we reap. And not only that, the reward was huge, not only in money but in friendships made here. Sorry to go on so–love you always.

@Debbie G, yes, I have a party ticket. I got the full-day combo package. I froze last year, so the idea of having a place indoors to go was very appealing. Plus, this means I’ve paid for lunch and dinner and don’t have to stand in line for food.

Zenyatta,
Hope you and Tasty have a good weekend watching the races with the LE’s gang. :)
@ Sharon call, you are spot on about Z @ the 2010 BC. I was there, and no TB could of done what she did. At first we were really panicking seeing her that far behind, then she kept coming through the obstacles one by one. As you know, everyone thought she won. Then all went silent for awhile. I think the majority of the people started crying and we were all in shock. That’s all everyone talked about at the restaurant and hotel. Not that she lost, but how she did what she did., Remember how dirty she was after the race, just mosing her way back to the barn. Like Ann Moss said she thought she won.. What a sureal evening it was.

Sharon Call. Boy Howdy! Did you get it right!

@Sally B, Yes the sale next March is the 13th and 14th that is I believe a Tuesday and Wednesday. I am going to try to go to it too.
I am so sad that I am not going to be able to go to Zenny’s Party. I know you all will have a wonderful time. I am so hoping that it will work out for another time.
Those sales at Keeneland I believe start that Monday after the Breeders Cup. I think the first session is Monday. I hope someone here can answer that question about visiting the horses on a walk through. I am pretty sure that they are avalable for the public
I know in Ocala I visited the barns the day of the sales, that was so great, I couldn’t get to all I wanted to see there were so many barns with so many horses. I was just in heaven.
It may be and I believe it is that they will have a day before the sales or maybe more that prospective buyers can view the horses.
I hope someone here can give more information on it .
Love Ya Zenny and hope you’re having a wonderful evening.
@MLV, yes please contact Winstar Farm about Turkoman, that is a great lot of people there. I have visited there and they are just fantastic. Or, please get in touch with Michael Blowen.
Yes something has to be done about these horses being taken care of in there later life. These are beings that are not just owned by humans, but I believe they belong to God first, and I just can’t believe the God that I know could be pleased with this.

@Sally, sorry I forgot, I believe as it gets closer to the march sales I know I have seen in the past Bloodhorse having one of there big Adds.

Dear Sunny Boyd:
It would take quite a bit of money to care for a horse for a lifetime. Ithink a fair estimate for a horse that lives a good long life of say 25 years, it might be 50,000 to 60,000. However, not all of the TB’s would need that kind of retirement money. Some of the more fortunate ones that are from big money farms and big money owners will be cared for by them for their lifetime. Other retired TB’s could be retrained inother venues. A lot of them are very successful show jumpers, therapy horses and even mounted police horses. There is a proposal before The Jockey Club right now that would require owners/breeders to pay a Mandatory Registration Fee of $360.00 for each foal born every year This fee would cover Birth Registration, Owner Transfer, Stallion and Broodmare Registration. This would raise about about 9 to 10 Million Dollars every year. Right now there is a voluntary fee of $25.00, 50.00 75.00 or 100.00 in place. The Jockey Club donates through their charities 200,000 each year for Retirement of Thoroughbreds. With what the voluntary owner/breeder registration fees raised, they collected approximately $250,000.00 in 2010. If you go to our new site and click on Campaigns you will see what we are trying to do to help our horses. There are other Fees, such as Mandatory Starter Fees at every track and a Mandatory percentage of monthly purses at every track that could be instituted and become Retirement Funds for TB’s. That would raise probably an additional 1 to 2 million more each year. If these Mandatory Fees were instituted in January 0f 2012, by the time the 2012 foals are three years old, there will be a Retirement Fund of probably over 30 million dollars. The money would be their for the most vulnerable of the horses, the backbone of the racing industry and the livelihood of the people on the Backside, the low level Claimers. They’re the ones being transported by the thousands to slaughter in Canada and Mexico. Then we hear that Turkoman is not being cared for by his syndicate. Check out equi-army-ndo.com and see if you want to participate. Hugs, JB

JB, really enjoyed reading your post to Sunny Boyd. Zenny, isn’t it wonderful all the work being done for TB’s in retirement. The future holds a lot of promise for better days to come for TB’s.

@Zenny: That Keenland barn scene looks so pleasant – can I come for a sleep over?
@JAG: Giacomo at full tilt in that field is breathtaking! Thanks for that link.
@R Dutrow: Don’t let the screen door hit your butt on the way out. A pox on your house for the disgrace you’ve brought to racing.

@SKIP AWAY: Skip away has been re-entered at Old Friends his grave Dedication is Oct 17th. HOpe those in the area can make it to honor this great Champion. Donations for the cemetary improvement are still being taken. Just mark them Hall of Fame Cemetary. They will eventually build a beautiful brick wall around it, it will also have arches in it. Much like the beautiful walls you see in China. They have begun some ground maintanence this fall with flowers for next spring. It is such a beautiful place your heart just rests when you look at it. Thanks to all
