Happy Friday to ALL!
It is another wonderful time for our sport this weekend. The programs in our country are highly contested. Then at Ascot, their weekend card features the inaugural British Champions Day. The race which will truly create a great deal attention is the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes–G1. FRANKEL is entered to run in this one mile turf event. He is going for his 9th straight victory while remaining undefeated! The feeling of anticipation and excitement surrounding this wonderful 3 year old colt is something to be enjoyed and embraced by all of racing.
FRANKEL…by Galileo (GB) out of Kind…is owned and bred by Juddmonte Farms. As a 2 year old, he performed beautifully in his races…so much so that he was awarded the honor of being the 2010 European Champion 2 year old colt.
As a 3 year old, he has continued to develop and mature at a very high level. As of August 5, 2011, he was ranked #1 in the World Thoroughbred Rankings!
This is truly an achievement of great pride and respect!
Other 3 year old stakes will be running this weekend in our country. In California, the Oak Tree Derby runs on Saturday and the Harold C. Ramser, Sr. (fillies) on Sunday! Then at Keeneland, we have the Queen Elizabeth Challenge Cup on Saturday for 3 year old fillies. This is one FUN TIME of the year to be 3!
HERE’S WISHING THE VERY BEST TO ALL OF THE HORSES AND THEIR CONNECTIONS!
Enjoy your handicapping and your weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z
PS. I know what MY JOHN did yesterday! I’ll share it with YOU next week! He said it was VERY SPECIAL and I’D BE SO PROUD!

Filly by Montjeu, Sara Lynx, crushed the hopes of 15 colts to take the $1.5 million Canadian International at Woodbine. Another filly by Montjeu, Miss Keller with Johnny V aboard, took the EP Taylor $1 million stakes for fillies and mares. EP Taylor incidentally was the owner of the great Northern Dancer who is related to both of these winning fillies.

@Trina Nagele – I love your poem to Deborah Richman. You never cease to amaze me with your talent!
@Judy Berube and Erin – Thanks for leading us to the John Shirreffs/Zenyatta video. I, like Peggy N, watched yesterday’s race on HRTV and didn’t know it was on NBC, so I missed this story. It was short, but I’ll take what I can get!
@Terry Crow – I love your plea for donations to help those poor NBA players. Don’t you feel sorry for them?

@Peggy (N). One of the commentators said that Sara would definitely go back to Paris and pass on the Breeder’s Cup. However, her trainer who is a woman, when asked immediately after the race, would not commit to a return to Europe, so that an appearance in the BC could still happen. The trainer said that the filly had enjoyed her training and stay at Woodbine. Apparently, she is another filly who is not intimidated by colts and likes to run long distance races. Her win was very impressive. Fillies from both North America and Europe appear to be ruling the tracks this year.

@JB
NP. It’s so great how everyone makes sure we all get to to share the latest news on “our girl”. I have been recording the the most interesting races that may have the greatest impact on the BC. I search Google to get the most info on the great Havre de Grace who will be only the 2nd female to run in the BC Classic. She is considered by some to be the “perfect horse”. Let’s all cheer her on!

OLD FRIENDS: If you go to http://www.ntraaftercare.com there is a great article featuring horse of the month Oxygian, who lives at Old Friends, great story on what he does.

@Trina Nagele…I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be the recipient of one of your birthday poems! Wowie!!! Each of your poems is such a gem, your verses are so clever and witty. There is a huge smile on my face, and I hope you can feel the sunlike beams of happiness stretching out to you and all Z-sters :) Thank you so much, Trina!
I did not, however, go to Santa Anita today. My toes ARE curled in anticipation of the birth of my first grandchild who could come at any time (due on my b-day :) If I have tales from the rail to tell, it will most likely be from the rail of his crib :)
@Signofthetimes, Terry Crow, and Ingrid …thank you for the birthday wishes!
@Ingrid…congratulations on your winning wagers!!
@Stephanie and signofthetimes…I loved watching Summers in Del Mar run his race. So professional, and he seemed to really want to win.
@All…didn’t Z and Tasty look beautiful in their video?
Max
@judy berube. The clip of John, Zenyatta and Tasty was wonderful. I loved seeing Z running about with her pal. They seem to be having a great life together.
@Erin. I would love to see Grace win the BCC like her sire did. She is a very talented horse and I hope that she is at her very best for that race.
Deborah Richman
@Max…thanks for the link to Sarah Lynx’s win. She is something! I think Z and Rachel started a trend…

Anyone know how Future Covenant is? Won yesterday but something was not right and they took him off in the bus.
stephanie (s in san diego)
@Judy B. thanks for the link. Sometimes it is a matter of getting the awareness out and that is so important. Had it not been for this wonderful place(Z’s diary), I would never have know the extent of the problem. So..while I can’t do nearly as much as many, at least I am aware and can do a something. Education has been such an important part of the ever growing legacy of Zenyatta.
