Good Morning,
It’s FRIDAY! I hope each of you had a very healthy, happy and productive week!
In our racing world, so much is taking place during the next 4 days. I really do need to get all of the details of my schedule worked out. I do not MISS one thing. TASTY agrees.
On Friday, Keeneland opens their Fall Meet. Over the next few days, they are hosting several major prep races for the Breeders’ Cup. My friend from California, SWITCH, is competing in one of them. This time, she is sprinting. Overall, Keeneland offers a lovely stakes program. All of these races will be fabulous to watch. In looking at the FORM, they have very full fields. It might be a good idea to start your handicapping early.
In general, the 2 year old racing is heating up as well. There are several graded stakes for them taking place now.
Then on Saturday and Sunday, Santa Anita and Belmont Park continue their preps for the World Championship Days. There won’t be a moment to spare with all of these contentious races taking place in our country.
I do want to mention that BLACK CAVIAR is going for #14 at Caulfield on Saturday. What a thrill! I so enjoy watching such top-quality racing.
What a ‘sporting weekend’ we have in store.
The BEST OF LUCK to all who are competing both ‘on’ and ‘off’ the track in all of these events!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z

Zenny, I’d know those ears anywhere. Lots of racing for you and Tasty to talk over and enjoy this weekend. Now that I am an “expert” at finding HRTV on my computer I’ll be able to watch all weekend. Well, not exactly all, it’s Thanksgiving here in Canada so I’ll have to take a break to eat some turkey on Sunday. I know it’s Columbus Day holiday for you so I hope you get extra pears. What does Tasty like for a special treat?
@ All Dumplings at SA – Have a wonderful weekend, I wish I could be there.

@Betsy McGrath: So glad to have another fan of Zenyatta here. If you go back to previous diaries, there are some amazing photos of Zenyatta and some will show great shots of her face. She is amazingly beautiful, isn’t she?
@Zenyatta – I hope you make time in your schedule this weekend to watch a very talented two-year-old named Alpha. He is sired by YOUR BERNARDINI. He won his first race in a romp by 5 or 6 lengths. He will be running in his second career start Saturday in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont. Good luck to your friend Switch and all the runners this weekend. I hope you and TT have a good rest of the day and resting up for your big PARTY. That is going to be so exciting.

Lovely picture (again!), have to say that Zenyatta is one of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen. @Susan in TN – we have not been to Newmarket, I don’t really like going to the races as I would get too upset if I saw anything go wrong, I had an ex racer and lost him a few years ago (fractured cannon bone) whilst he was out in the field, still miss him to this day. (As I post this it is 19.37pm, nearly bed time for Lauryn!) xxxx

Wishing all of people who cellibrate New Year now a happy and healthy New Year. And wishing Jerry and Ann Moss, their family and four-legged family (including Ms. Zenyatta Moss) much happiness, health, and success in the New Year.

Dear Zenny, Dottie and Zen-sters:
Well, I’m starting to feel a little more like returning to the world today, although as you all know, grief comes in waves. So, a little like you Zenny, I’m choosing my “appearances” with some care.
I was interested to see Black Caviar mentioned. I’ve been corresponding with the AMAZING Aussie photographer, Bronwen Healy, to get photos of Black Caviar & So You Think for my next article for THE VAULT and today it was all settled! I have a small truckload of photos of this pair neatly filed away on my Mac. Article will post in another 10 days or so, depending.
Also saw that people here noticed the arrival of Lohnro in the USA — what a great thoroughbred. And just beautiful to look at, too. Did you know that Bernie, Street Cry & Medaglia d’Oro are all “down under”? I noticed this on Bronwen Healy’s blog, where she confessed that Bernie was absolutely stunning to look at, although Street Cry & Med. d’Oro came in for some kudos of their own!
This weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving and I wanted to tell everyone that one of my thank-fulls will be for this site and all of your wonderful people in my Zen community. Another will be for you, sweet Zen. And an especially huge prayer of thanks for “OUR DOTTIE” ! Love & hugs to all…..

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Does any of the Santa Anita fans know how Blind Luck is doing after her last place finish last week? I haven’t heard anything except Mr Hollendorfer was going to request a scan.
Have a Wonderful Weekend, Zenyatta and all of her connections & fans :)

Seems and Tasty and Zenyatta have put an end to any rivalry and animosity between Zenyatta and Rachel camps.
Tasty Temptation is related to Rachel as they share Medaglia d’Oro as their sire. And look how they are best friends.
Animals are often kinder and more loving than humans.

Dear Great One,
You look like the watch-out sentinel there for Lane’s End, looking for whose coming, I guess it would be down the “lane,” to visit! You look REGAL!
I wanted to give everyone a little update on what’s going on with your distant cousins in the Nevada feedlot. Marlene emailed me last night to tell me she is driving up through Sacramento Sunday evening on her way to Nevada. She is going to stop here and have dinner with ME! I am going to get to meet our heroine! I am very excited. She told me her adoption event last weekend was very successful and she adopted out 12 horses to approved homes and then another 2 after the event; even a few of the horses STILL in the feedlot were adopted. She also confirmed with the feedlot that all of the horses we helped save are doing well and patiently waiting for their ride to freedom. Marlene said she was going to try to talk the feedlot people into letting her take at least one more horse with her from the feedlot! Anyway, she is not going to return until Tuesday, so I’m not going to go with her. I am going to talk to her about the idea put forth by !@Patricia about getting the shoes left behind by the poor ill-fated horses to use in some manner for fund-raising. I will keep you all posted. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT IN THIS EFFORT. I KNOW MARLENE APPRECIATES IT SO MUCH AND HOLDS A VERY DEAR SPOT FOR THE Z’ISTERS AND ALL OUR HELP. And to YOU, GREAT ONE, goes the greatest thanks for all YOU have done.
I hope those of you planning to watch live racing somewhere have a FANTASTIC weekend. I will do the best I can watching from home on TV.
Your humble J
Ann Maree
Hi, sweet girl,
–
I’ve updated my blog for this weekend’s races, as there is certainly a lot of racing action going on….kind of a frenzy leading up to the Breeders Cup.
–
I checked an online Time Converter site, and the best I have figured out is the BLACK CAVIAR race goes off at 10:20 p.m. EDT, TONIGHT, Friday! Very confusing with such a big time difference….they are 15 hours ahead of New York time!
–
Can’t wait to meet everybody on Friday, Nov. 4!! Big hugs. Love you! Ann Maree

@Pattie — We plan to visit Blind Luck next week — hopefully we will learn something.

Zenny ~ I’m sending an internet KISS to you, Sweetheart! I took today off for my big day tomorrow (wink wink). I had HRTV on this morning and WHO do you think they showed grazing along side Tasty… YOU!!! OMG I was so thrilled to see you! You look marvelous! I can see a Baby there, gf!
~~~~~~~~
I look forward to seeing my Z Dumpling friends tomorrow at SA. It’s going to be a full packed day, starting with breakfast at Clocker’s Corner. We are going to have a “group” photo taken by John Henry’s statue – FUN!! Then those who can join me for dinner will end the long day of racing stuffing outselves LOL
~~~~~~~~
GOOD LUCK
Marilu V.
Dear Zenyatta: Thank you for all the information. I wish everyone a safe race. I hope Black Caviar makes the 14th. She has done so much for racing in Australia. I read racing was at a low point there and she helped bring back life to the industry. Reminds me of what you have done for me personally and for all of us. Hugs and Kisses, Marilu
JAG ~ California
WHOOPS! I’ve never done that before… I wasn’t finished typing!
GOOD LUCK TO SWITCH and BLACK CAVIAR! :-)

I won’t be able to visit the diary tomorrow, but maybe I can stop by on Sunday to see what’s up!

@Terri Z – I absolutely agree. I posted on diary 349 (I think it was) that MDO was sire to both TT and RA, but you echoed my thoughts perfectly. The rivalry was never between these two great ladies but some of the over zealous people around them. I don’t think the girls ever met except MAYBE at Lane’s End when they were being bred (the first time for Z). I read somewhere that at one short period of time, the farm had 7 HOY in residence. Rachel was there for Curlin, Z was there for Bernie (was he brought over from Darley for the breeding???) and I don’t know about other ‘famous’ horses that live at Lane’s End. I’m sure there are some. I’d have loved to be peeking around!
Have a great weekend everyone.
JAG ~ California
@ Trina Nagele! THANK YOU! You are so thoughtful!!! XO

@ Judy Berube: Hi Judy! Have you heard from Karen Gogue lately? I have not seen postings from her. Marilu

@ JAG – Happy Birthday tomorrow as you party hearty at Santa Anita. I’ve already said I wish I could be there but I will hoist a glass of something tomorrow as I watch HRTV and think of you Dumplings having a grand old time, so CHEERS.
Yvonne Lentini
You look so beautiful today Z. It’s good to hear that some of the Z’sters will be getting together tomorrow at SA for JAG’s birthday. Happy Birthday to You. I’m am going to be watching all the racing action this weekend on TVG I hope they are also showing the Keeneland Racing. Black Caviar is one my favorites I hope she has a very successful race. Well everyone enjoy the weekend we are supposed to have terrific weather. Miss you Zenyatta and always glad to hear your doing so well. Yvonne in NJ

Reading Uncle Mo’s Facebook page, Uncle Mike vanned Stay Thirsty and he to Belmont in a limo with a sun roof. Maybe you can get to the drive up betting at Keeneland the same way.
Have fun Z- my fingers are crossed for Mr Commons, Stopshopppingmaria, Switch and Gio Ponti
