Good Morning,
I wanted to share something FUN that is happening tomorrow, October 7th, at Santa Anita. They are having PHOTOGRAPHY DAY! It all starts tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. / Clockers’ Corner. Santa Anita is offering all of the fans a chance to really participate in photographing the different areas of the grounds as well as the day’s racing events.
For $20, a fan can attend the all day event. It starts early with the opportunity to take photos of the horses while they are training during workouts. This is followed by a late breakfast at Clockers’ Corner and a Q & A session with members of the Benoit group who are the Official Photographers for all of the Southern California Racing Circuit, a trainer, and some members of management.
The trainer who was asked to guest this year is MY JOHN. As many of you may know, photography is one of My John’s favorite hobbies. HE ABSOLUTELY LOVES TO TAKE PICTURES. He will be there to answer all types of questions with his NIKKON CAMERA in hand. As a matter of fact, just last night he was commenting that without a doubt “ZENYATTA was one of his best subjects”. (BLUSH, BLUSH)
After this, the fans will be given a PRESS CREDENTIAL and race track access for the day of racing. They will be able to go into the paddock, winner’s circle, and other parts of the grounds via this special pass. For someone who really enjoys taking pictures, you could not have a more beautiful setting than Santa Anita. The Foothill Mountains provide such a breath-taking backdrop for one of the most amazing racing settings in all of our sport.
If you have the time and live close by…what a great way to spend the day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Lonhro to shuttle to US to stand at Darley. Oh Wow what a great looking horse. Remember, Ensign told us about him. So glad he’s coming.

Thank you to all the dumplings here who answered my question about the frequency of racing a horse. SHARON CALL, JEANIE, LAURA J, ANDREA, MARGARET, TERRY CROW, DOREEN AND VICKI B. No national, state or track rules seem to cover this situation. Some horse heroes in our past ran many times a month such as Seabiscuit. Many of you expressed dislike for Dutrow. NYS will make a ruling in a few days about suspending him again–but he’s a bad penny…he’ll just go on to other states and pull the same tricks. Unfortunately, racing has many trainers like Dutrow–far too many, because racing is an unregulated sport. It regulates itself. Joke. Sharon, the testing idea is the right way to go, but they will plead poverty–unable to pay for it.

Yes, it is so funny; OTTB have such a hard time going
Right and there seems to always be a favoring
To go left even as they get older.

Cavier, bet Shackelford would have a great time.
Gets their mind off the track training and all that slashing
Around would be fun. She is a gorgeous mare.

Dear Queen Z, OH, I REALLY, REALLY want to go to photography day tomorrow. But alas, I have to work! Some year in the spring or fall when they have this event I am going to have to play hooky from work to go. I LOVE taking pics at the track! (YOU were some of my BEST pics!).

Sophie with John Henry is TOO CUTE!! JAG, I see I’m not the only one who thought of you as soon as I saw that adorable pic :)

Happy Birthday to all October dumplings!!!
Should be one of those gorgeous October days tomorrow @ Santa Anita.
Thanks to JAG for location of John Henry. How in the world could I not see it? I will definitely make a special effort to not pass it up. Perhaps on the days I went it was so crowded and I was so intent on my mission to get a good spot by the paddock to see Zenyatta. Just so much to take in. One of the most beautiful race venues around. Have fun one and all. I will try to drive up for Saturday and look for you all in the paddock area.
Good Night Z/and baby ZB

Those of you who commented on Mr Jobs
Death and his impact on Apple. I went into
The Apple store to get my computer restored
For not cost. There were candles, photos and
Small shrines set up outside honoring him. To walk
through The store and see his vision was very emotional.
RIP Me Jobs, your vision, talent and genius
Has been shared with us.

@Barbara Wood: Will send a donation to Ranch Hand Rescue (unfortunately, not large).

Myself and Lauryn would love to have a Zenyatta calendar if one is put together. @signofthetimes, Happy Birthday for yesterday, sorry its late but just managed have half an hour on the laptop before getting ready for work, hope you had a great day x

Good night, sweet Z, sleep tight till the morning light.
@Sue Fredrick— Best wishes to your hubby and prayers for his continuing mobility.
@Denise in AZ—Congratulation to your hubby for acing job the interview. Praying hard he gets the nod. Also, loved the dishwasher joke.
@Sue Noel—-What a touching post, with both sadness and gladness. I’m sorry for the lost of your columnist friend to cancer. His dogs will miss him greatly too—I loved those names for two Idahoan labs—Spud and Tater. And what a sweet story of how you got your dream horse come to life, your own “National Velvet” Pie. Thanks for sharing. How long did you ride him? It’s wonderful to hear of the two new horses in your life—Traveler and, especially, Casey. I know they’re happy to have you in their lives too. Too cute how together they look like Z and TT from a distance!
@Terry Crow—That’s great news about Don. Say hi for us. Loved the jokes.
@Kim S—High hoof to both you and your daughter for going to the rescue every day. It’s wonderful that your daughter has been able to do so much and keep her grades up too! Thanks for the encouraging update on Victor. It’s good that he’s getting more attention to help him overcome shyness and also get over the loss of his equine friend. Very nice that you gave to help the rescued horses in Texas at http://ranchhandrescue.org/ I just made a donation too. Every little bit helps. Interesting that the director shares your maiden name! And you’re both in rescue–Hoof ray!
@Judy Berube—Glad you enjoyed your Thelma and Louise day with your sister.
@Diana S–Please pass our congratulations and happy birthday wishes to your Aunt Helen, turning 101! WOW!
@Andrea—Thanks for alerting us that we can see Black Caviar run Friday evening around 7PM Pacific time! I was wondering when it would be!
@All who commented on the poem–Thank you so much!

Hi Zenyatta. Wow, that is awesome. We wish we lived in CA, close to all of the great tracks. I just love the pic of Sophie with John Henry. Too cute. It is going to be so great spending time with your John and discussing his Nikkon camera. We just bought one and it is so intimidating. We bought it to take pics of horses – we really need to keep practicing. Love you big girl, stay comfy, eat well for two and enjoy those paddock times with TT and all of your friends. Love you, Angel in Disguise.

@Marshall (girl’s name)–thank you SO much for donating. Believe me, my donations aren’t large either, but we are all working together.
@Trina Nagele–thanks for posting the link to Ranch Hand Rescue again. SOmething went haywire when I did it.

Dottie, John and Lands End, thank you for all of these wonderful photographs. A picture of Zenyatta, Sophie or “E” always make for the beginning of a great day. Appreciate all of your hard work. You bring humor and sunshine to my life.
