Good Morning,
I wanted to share something FUN that is happening tomorrow, October 7th, at Santa Anita. They are having PHOTOGRAPHY DAY! It all starts tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. / Clockers’ Corner. Santa Anita is offering all of the fans a chance to really participate in photographing the different areas of the grounds as well as the day’s racing events.
For $20, a fan can attend the all day event. It starts early with the opportunity to take photos of the horses while they are training during workouts. This is followed by a late breakfast at Clockers’ Corner and a Q & A session with members of the Benoit group who are the Official Photographers for all of the Southern California Racing Circuit, a trainer, and some members of management.
The trainer who was asked to guest this year is MY JOHN. As many of you may know, photography is one of My John’s favorite hobbies. HE ABSOLUTELY LOVES TO TAKE PICTURES. He will be there to answer all types of questions with his NIKKON CAMERA in hand. As a matter of fact, just last night he was commenting that without a doubt “ZENYATTA was one of his best subjects”. (BLUSH, BLUSH)
After this, the fans will be given a PRESS CREDENTIAL and race track access for the day of racing. They will be able to go into the paddock, winner’s circle, and other parts of the grounds via this special pass. For someone who really enjoys taking pictures, you could not have a more beautiful setting than Santa Anita. The Foothill Mountains provide such a breath-taking backdrop for one of the most amazing racing settings in all of our sport.
If you have the time and live close by…what a great way to spend the day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Brenda S: Congratulate Vic for me! And yes, I’ll be at SA on Saturday trying to stay out of trouble while getting JAG into as much as I can blame on her! :-)

Just love all your photos of late, Zenny. And your wonderful announcements. Wish I could be a world traveler, well, really just a US traveler would work. :)
My daughter and I are still going to the horse rescue every afternoon. And so far, she has been able to keep up with her homework, schoolwork and grades. Hope it lasts. Gotta thank you Zenny, coming to your diary is what prompted us to get involved with these beautiful horses.
@Doreen–thanks for the link of pictures to D’Accord. What a handsome fellow. RIP
@Denise in AZ–hoofs, fingers and whatever else can be crossed for you husband’s inteview.
@signofthetimes–Happiest of Birthdays
@JAG–can’t remember if I wished you a Happy Birthday, so here it is again, maybe :) Happy Birthday!
@Sue Noel–great story, sounds like everyone is healthy and happy.
@Barbara Wood–helped out with Ranchhandrescue.org. Seems to be karma or kismet or whatever. The counselor listed on their site is Kim Mills, which is my maiden name. I’ll be checking out their website a little further.
@Terry Crow–what a wonderful you friend you are to Don. So glad he was able to get some relief. Enjoy your time together.
I know I’ve missed someone so thoughts and prayers to everyone and congrats to others.
Just a little note–Victor, the Paso Fino, at the horse resuce who lost his friend, Angel last week, seems to be doing ok. Still a little subdued but he’s getting more human attention and that seems to be helping his shyness.
So thankful you have TT and all your human friends, Zenny. Have a great night.
Lotsa love to all.

@Sue Noel: This Arizona Dumpling most definately remembers Pat Murphy, and especially his all day coverage on KTAR of the first Gulf War. I choose to think his positives outweighed his negatives. RIP Pat. diastu in tempe

Santa Anita looks like an absolutely beautiful place. What a sweetie Sophie is. I enjoyed reading how John Henry got his name.
@signofthetimes-Happy Birthday! I have really appreciated all your answers to my racing questions.
@ all going to SA tomorrow-I’m sure you will all have a great time. Maybe some could check out the Zenyatta Lounge while on the tour.
@ all going to SA on Saturday. Enjoy the birthday celebrations at the track!! Zenyatta’s old Barn 55 friend, Mr. Commons will be racing.

@Terry Crow: A sweet moment, indeed. I also liked when they are seated at a table in the Jockey Club (may not have the name right) and Teri Garr says, ” I don’t understand- why can’t you people just watch the pretty horses run around- why do you have to bet?” and there is a brief pause and then quiet laughter breaks out all through the dining room. I enjoyed it AND today’s jokes and redneck guidelines.
@Sharon Call and Denise in AZ: Nice jokes!

@Diana S: Happy 101st Birthday to your auntie!

Hey Queen, I will be at Santa Anita tomorrow. I hope I see your family….

@Laura J: That’s a great idea, isn’t it? I like the idea of requiring the use of the registered name so the horse can be “tracked,” so to speak. A friend of my daughter’s adopted an OTTB mare and adores her- but is having to really work on teaching her to turn ‘right’ while being ridden! She hasn’t been at it that long, though.

@Brenda S: High hoof to Vic- nice work on the dunking tank! Every kid’s dream-

Dear Zenyatta It has been a long day. I love how you look no matter what. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL :) Also the people that get to go to Santa Anita are so lucky. I hope someday to see it. It looks so beautiful. Good night my sweet girl. I love you. Hugs and many Kisses, Shari XXXOOO

John does take fabulous photos…could he share what make/model camera he uses? Thank you!

Love the picture of the Adorable Sophie S.! Truly a sweetheart. Love that she was posed under John Henry. Amazing that she stayed there long enough to get the picture. If that was my Ralph he would have been off like a shot. I think Nina Kaiser did that statue of John Henry and it is stunning.

@Helen(Michigan) I admit I did not read the last couple of days post. When I did read a few, I just had to tell you I was so saddened by such tragedy, losing your children. My sister 13 yrs ago lost a son in an accident. My son was with him when it occurred. It was the hardest time in my life seeing my sister & brother-in-law grieve so. How could I have been so lucky to have mine and my sister losing hers. God bless both you & husband
Max
You are right Zenyatta. You make the best subject for photos because you always look so beautiful in every picture. It certainly appears that Sophie has studied you closely. She also knows how to strike a pose. The statue of John Henry is magnificient. Thank you, Dottie and John Shirreffs for these excellent shots.
Sally B.
Sweet Z, you always make me smile. Great pictures with itsy bitsy Sophie with John Henry. I could take some lessons from John with photography, that is for sure. At least now I have a digital so I don’t waste so much film! If I lived close by I would be there. Sweet dreams.
love you with 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z

@Sharon Call–I think that’s hilarious.
@Sue Noel–thank you for your fascinating post about Pat Murphy, Spud , and Tater.
Also, your account of playing with Traveler and Casey. Our grandhorse,Money, hates to be tied as well, but he behaves beautifully when just ground-tied. It’s almost like he’s insulted if he thinks we don’t think he can behave–lol! Glad you are able to enjoy yourself.
@Kim S– thank you so much for donating. Hay here is $180/bale IF it can be found, and people are just truning their horses loose. Dreadful. Cattlemen are selling off their herds.
@Diana S– Happy Birthday to Auntie Helen. That’s quite a club she has earned membership in. She’ not that far from us here.
@JAG–love the water/Black Caviar story. Sent it to my water aerobics instructor, who happens to be one of my former students, and now is a greandmother.. How old does that make ME?
@All going to SA– we’ll be there in spirit with you.
Good night precious Z– whatever would I have done with myself if you had not brought all of us together? Love you always.
Peggy (N)
@Signofthetimes, Hope you have a wonderful Birthday and many many more. Ithink I had your’s and JAG’s birthday mixed up. So sorry. I hope you had a wonderful birthday. Love, Peggy

@Judy Berube, So glad your back. Love, Peggy
