Good Morning,
Everything seems to be moving right along with MY PARTY. The Breeders’ Cup Official Announcement was released yesterday…and everything is progressing beautifully. This is so exciting!
In the meantime, I’m getting myself ready for all of the events and my photo sessions. The weather at this moment (I’m using the term ‘moment’ as it can change very quickly here in Lexington) is PICTURE PERFECT. I’ve heard at home in Arcadia and also at Barn 55, it is raining a bit today.
As you may know, weight gain is always a big consideration and something that is constantly monitored when one is ‘in foal’. I am very pleased to report that the amount of weight I’m gaining while carrying BABY Z/B is right ‘on target’. I guess you could say that at this time, I’m gaining the perfect amount of weight…and in all the right places! Yippee!
For those of you who have asked…NO GUINNESS! I’m drinking lots of water and really trying to do ALL of the right things!
I’m so used to being an athlete and having my muscles toned and fit…that this “BABY BUMP CONCEPT’ is a new ‘look’ for ME! But I must say, I LOVE IT!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Zenyatta. Hi, Zenny!! Looks like you are enjoying some of your wonderful blue grass, out in the fall sunshine. It has been raining here for the last couple of days and do you believe it, snow has already hit the high country. I am so happy that you are feeling great and gaining just the right amount of weight. Bet you are enjoying planning the party, I know how much you love surprises! How fantastic to see Mike riding Ebby. John’s picture is great and Ebby looks like she has definitely grown and matured some since I saw her several months ago. She is beautiful! What an amazing spokesperson you are for racing and your equine family. I hope you know Zenny that you did not stop doing amazing things when you left the race track, you continue to do them everyday. Not only for the charities and activities you support, but for each of us here. The never ending kindness that you and Team Z display is overwhelming. I love you all a great deal. I am so happy that Ebby is getting a lot of kisses and attention. It is wonderful seeing her bring so much joy to Barn 55. I love you all a great deal. Thank you and Dottie so much for everything. I am sending kisses for your beautiful baby bumb. Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO

@Debbie G – You’re welcome. I can tell from all of the e-mails that you will be in very good company at Zenyatta’s party. I know it will be amazing!!
@Sherry D. WV. – I too grew up reading the books you mentioned. I know I always dreamed of having my own Black Stallion. You may not have The Black, but how awesome that you have Black Beauty times 3. Raven sounds like she is gorgeous, I love the name.
@Terry Crow – I will certainly be praying for Don’s speedy recovery. Thank you for sharing the story about Seth Hancock. I have always wanted to meet him, but have not had the chance yet. I did meet his older brother, Arthur Hancock. I watched an “Inside Information” piece by HRTV on Swale, in which Seth talked about how hard his death was. His description of driving over to his mother’s house to break the news to her and hearing the Belmont Stakes trophy which had just arrived clinking in the back of the car was especially touching. They experienced the highest high and lowest low in just 5 short days.
@Susan in TN – I am so very, very happy that Rootbeer has been adopted. He is absolutely the most wonderful boy and it was very hard for me to have to leave him when I visited you. He was so kind to let me kiss his nose. You did such a fantastic job with him. I hope he has found his forever family and horse happiness. Maybe Rusty and Pepsi can hang out together. Love to you and thank you again for all you do for us and your special sweeties. I have “War Horse” loaded on my Nook, but have not read it yet.
@Kari Bussell – My dear friend, how I treasure your words. Thank you for your remarkable kindness. Anything I can do to bring you a little happiness is my joy. How wonderful that Landaluce holds a special place in your heart and thank you for sharing the link to her race. Wasn’t she just so lovely?
@Barbara Wood – Hope everything is great with you. Glad you are enjoying the books. How sweet that your little girl wrote a letter to Woody. The loss had to be so devastating to him. Swale certainly touched many lives in a short time. Very sorry to hear fires are once again burning, will be praying for their end.
@Stephanie (S in San Diego) – How unfortunate that you could not get the time off for the party. I to am heartbroken that I will not be attending, but you are right, we have so much in our lives to be thankful for. I will be right in front of the TV enjoying every minute of the BC weekend and look forward to pictures or video from Zenny’s event.
@Kimberly Potter – Prayers for Mom and baby. Many blessings to you all.
@signofthetimes – You’re welcome. I think I sent a Happy Birthday earlier, but just must have wanted to give you twice the well wishes.
@RIP Mudville Nine and D’Accord – Condolences to all of their connections.
@Abigail in Montreal – You are always in my thoughts and in my heart.
@Kathy Kimber –Thank you for keeping us up to date on Skip Away. I hope Charlotte is doing well. Please let her know I have been thinking about her.
@Denise in AZ – The kindness you are showing towards those unfortunate horses in the face of your own difficulties is remarkable and very heartwarming. I will continue to pray for you husband and you!
@Katie Clawson – Hope you have an amazing time at Lanes End and visiting Lexington.!!
@#1 New England Fan – Isn’t Saratoga the best!!! I loved it!!
@Ann Maree – Thank you for the link to the interview with Allen Jerkins. I enjoyed it.
@Helen in Michigan – Welcome back! How devastating for you and your husband to no longer have your beautiful boys with you. I have seen my own mother grieve for the loss of my beloved brother and sister-in-law, who both left us too soon. One can never be prepared for such a loss. We can only receive God’s healing, holding on to the memories and love that remain. You are remarkable and I hope Zenyatta’s grace here in this special place will help. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

You look beautiful as always and I agree, the party (which is approaching rapidly) is going to be the party of all parties. And why not, with you as host, it’s a sure thing. I read an article that this was the “inaugural” Breeder’s Cup party hosted by Zenyatta. Could that mean there might be another one next year right here in California?
Cheryl Smith
You are beautiful always! So glad your doing well. I think the little one’s name should be what you put in this post……Baby Z/B. You keep on eating healthy and get lots of rest.
Love you FOREVER!
LauraJ
Wow, that is some serious sun bleaching. If I didn’t know better, I’d think our girl was a chestnut. Well, pretty soon she will be dark and fuzzy.
JAG / California :-)
@ DOTTIE
Would you please tell us the “size” of Zenny’s foal at this stage. I know you shared a link earlier this year. Someone recently commented that her foal is about the size of a rabbit. Is this pretty accurate??? I’d think larger than that – but I know nothing!!! Thanks!
Judy

You look beautiful as always. Enjoy the sunshine and blue grass. All things good and loving to you Z and team Z

You are looking great, Zenny! I think the sunbleached look is attractive on you though I was used to you being so dark it was hard to see your points except in the bright sun, and just the tips of your mane were bleached red…Of course you are wearing your cozy brown blanket in that photo, but your neck is much lighter than when i petted you.
Thank you so much to you and all of Team Z for keeping your fans involved in the Breeders Cup events!
I will not be able to attend, but it is a wonderful idea and I am sure all who are able to go will have a great time.
Much Love and kisses on the nose for all!
Margaret
@Jag
Z is just over 6 months pregnant. She still has about 5 1/2 months to go! Her baby if I remember right is about two pounds. At I think day 250 (around 2/3’s of the way through her pregnancy)the baby will start growing by leaps and bounds.
Have no worries. While her baby is still very small all the parts are there and coming together. Just like with humans!
Her “baby bump” really isn’t very noticeable yet. What you ARE seeing is the weight gain she has incurred since retirement. All good and necessary. And yes she probably has gained a few pounds towards her actual pregnancy. As time goes along you won’t see a bump YOU WILL SEE A VERY PREGNANT Z! Way back in Jan I think it was reported that Z had gained about 150 lbs since her retirement. The weight gained helped stabilize her hormones so she could get into foal. All very complicated stuff.
Just not sure how in depth you want me to research and say online here…
Mary
You look great Z…..so happy all is going well for you and baby Z/B. It is warm here in Central VA right now but it will be much cooler tonight…it is that time of the year….love Fall… a pretty time of the year….love the colors, pumpkins, scarecrows ….hugs to you Z…
Joanna from TX
@Margaret-I’m very interested in the nitty-gritty of the foal’s development in-utero. I’ve read a little bit about it but the subject there was problem births and I had to quit reading it…too scarey. So if you want to impart some of your knowledge, I’d welcome it!
Zenny, I had to smile about the watching and monitoring of your weight. Yes, all of us ‘moms’ have had to go thru that. I also had to deal with swollen feet. I looked like a poster child for elephantitus or something. I don’t think horses have to suffer that indignity :))).
Enjoy the fall, pretty lady.
Julie Ross
Zenny, some great female beauties have been photgraphed while pregnant. Think Demi Moore and Gisella Bundchen.
I’m sure the cameras are as in love with you now as they always have been. Even more so, since you’re posing for 2!
Shema Satya
I love the name baby Z/B. Adorable! So happy to hear about your “in foal” status. I’ve been thinking a lot about how toned and fit you were used to being, so happy to hear you’re doing good with your new status! I’ve never been pregnant but I’ve “heard”, as least for some women, they just love the experience of being pregnant. By the way, I’ve also been wondering, do horses ever get morning sickness? It’s an experience human mommies to be often get, usually in early pregnancy. Has Dottie discussed that with you? Love you precious!
Stella Bagwell
Dearest Queen,
I’m glad to hear your weight is spot on. That’s so important for mother’s-to-be and I must say your baby bump looks fantastic on you! And don’t worry, you’ll get trim and slim again when the little one starts nursing.
No doubt you’ll be getting all dolled up for the Breeder’s Cup Party. I hope that those of us who can’t attend will get to see video of you later on. In any case, I know you’ll look beautiful, as always.
Hope you and Tasty have a peaceful evening!
Love and hugs,
Stel
Jan
Zenyatta,
You look just marvelous, eating all that yummy blue grass, and very chic with your sweather on. So glad to hear you are right on target with your pregnancy. Have a fun day with Tasty. xoxo.

Another great photo. It is Photography Day at Santa Anita on Friday. Hoards of would be Barbara Livingstones decend upon Clockers Corner early and start snapping, after excessive use of the index finger, there is a breakfast, and then a Q&A with the track photographer, and everyone’s fav photographer – your John, as well as many others, inc. jockey Joe Talamo, who is very entertaining. Tix & info on SA website. I will try to go, does that mean I actually have to read the instruction book for my camera!
TRAIL RIDE WITH LAPD is this Sat. 8th, @ 9am. Take your own horse (no stallions) or rent from nearby stable. Lunch & t’shirt included, $50. Also an after party for seperate $ starting at 5pm. Should be a really fun event. They are a great group of guys and take such good care of their horses. As I have mentioned, they have 2 off the track TB’s. What an awesome 2nd career for a racehorse! Call for tix & info if u r in the L.A. area 213 485 5909. I have the flyer on my fb page, but it comes up small. This is a 501 charity as they are not fully funded by the city. Just thought it would be a fun event with horses for anyone in the area.
Sharyn
You look so beautiful out there in the sunshine! Your colors just glisten!!
So happy to hear you are right on target with baby Z/B!!
Enjoy you day….
lynn martin
Good morning,
Zenny, you look wonderful. Relaxed and bundled up in your coat!
@Margaret – Yes, please keep givinig info regarding the pregnancy as it progresses. I know horse people are quite superstitious and Team Z may not want to jinx things, so they are not giving too much information, too many of the details.
Us “dog” people are superstitious, too. We dont “say” things outright sometimes, for fear of the jinx! For example, this weekend at dog shows in Roseville Ca, little Brook could finish her championship if she wins just one of those shows. But you wont hear me saying THAT out loud!!! Yes, I will pick a “lucky” outfit to wear… “lucky” lead for Brook, etc. etc.! Maybe even pack a bottle of champagne in the ice chest…..
stephanie
hi zenny u look great as usual. i am glad to hear the baby is doing great. but zenny i am curious to know who the proud popa is?
