Good Morning,
Everything seems to be moving right along with MY PARTY. The Breeders’ Cup Official Announcement was released yesterday…and everything is progressing beautifully. This is so exciting!
In the meantime, I’m getting myself ready for all of the events and my photo sessions. The weather at this moment (I’m using the term ‘moment’ as it can change very quickly here in Lexington) is PICTURE PERFECT. I’ve heard at home in Arcadia and also at Barn 55, it is raining a bit today.
As you may know, weight gain is always a big consideration and something that is constantly monitored when one is ‘in foal’. I am very pleased to report that the amount of weight I’m gaining while carrying BABY Z/B is right ‘on target’. I guess you could say that at this time, I’m gaining the perfect amount of weight…and in all the right places! Yippee!
For those of you who have asked…NO GUINNESS! I’m drinking lots of water and really trying to do ALL of the right things!
I’m so used to being an athlete and having my muscles toned and fit…that this “BABY BUMP CONCEPT’ is a new ‘look’ for ME! But I must say, I LOVE IT!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z

My Queen, YOU look marvelous with your golden blond high-lights….still regal munching on the sweet bluegrass of the Great beautiful state of Kentucky( blatant attempt to not be banned in KY. due to my beloved Vols 26 and counting winning streak against Ky.)….I love this picture Zenny…We had a beautiful fall day with today…I am glad to read all is going great with you and baby Z-B……I love you both and always will.

Z — Your sunshine coloring is different than the Breyer model I have. It shows a very dark brown, like coffee. The dapples on the rump & flanks show only when model is held in bright light. Lovely Lady, I know your true colors. You’ll always be gorgeous.

@Barbara Wood, your in my prayers with those terrible fires.
@JAG, Happy Birthday to you. OMG i know someone else has one close to you too.
Help, who is it…………

I know the Jan following Big Brown’s win in the Derby the rules were changing about steroids. BB was given steroids before the Derby and the Preakness.
As far as I know there HAS NEVER been a rule about breaks between races. Interesting because yesterday I went to the Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation–home of Seabiscuit. The Biscuit was raced 35 times as a two year old! And no that isn’t a misprint. Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons raced him into the ground. It was no wonder that the Biscuit suffered from terrible knees.
And yes, I am aware that there was a trainer in Aug who was doing this. The owner and trainer are out to break Z’s record while the horse can stay in allowance races. That trainer has come under a lot of condemnation (and rightfully so), so am I surprised that another trainer is following suit? Not really.
BB beat the GREAT Eight Belles who beat 18 other colts coming in second for her Derby. She broke down while slowing down. Her trainer Larry Jones had already left for the backside awaiting her when the worst thing that could happen did. He was notified following her being put down. While the correct decision was made–officials I believe should have called him and let him be able to say goodbye. We have cell phones today, so it isn’t like he was unreachable. EB has a statue at the Derby Museum–it’s through the Museum and out the back door. Several horses are there. And Barbaro is out front welcoming you.

I wonder if the foal will ‘do the dance’ like Zenyatta. Thank you again for sharing.

@Sue Frederick — Yes, being raised as a “city girl”, I was amazed to find out that my mother loved riding horses and that my country relatives knew all about me. I am thrilled to have found Wanda. I live in Texas and had I not gone to see horse farms in Lexington would never have known these wonderful family stories.
@Trina Nagele – I may not see Wanda till 2012, but I am sure we will have several phone conversations before my trip to Lexington. I would love to share her stories.
@quarterhossgal ~ Thank you for your comment. Hopefully during my visit I’ll discover even more interesting facts about my family. Lexington is so beautiful. Glad Zenyatta lives in such a serene place.

You are going to be such a great mom!!!

I incorrectly posted this on the wrong diary so if you’ve already read it, please ignore. It’s been a very long day.
RIP D’Accord – I visited D’Accord at Akindale Farm earlier this summer. I was told that this would probably be the last time I would see him. He had arthritis, but he was responding to the medication he was on. But medicine can only help so much. I knew that the farm would do right by him if his condition worsened. My condolences to Erin and Karin, and the rest of the staff at Akindale Farm, as well as to the Firestone family who originally owned him. When I visited the farm for the first time three years ago and heard that he was a son of Secretariat (my favorite racehorse of all-time), I just had to see him. I’m glad that I was able to visit him again before he died. I cherish the pictures that I took of him and the time I spent feeding him carrots (which he loved) and an occasional mint. D’Accord, you not only live – in my memory of you – but in your offspring too. You won’t be forgotten. Here’s a nice article by Barbara Livingston on D’Accord’s 32nd birthday this year: http://www.drf.com/blogs/daccords-32nd-birthday-party
Congratulations Awesome Feather – welcome back!!!
RIP Steve Jobs and jockey Jose Osorio.
A speedy recovery to Gary Baze who was injured in a training accident at Turf Paradise.

I was having dinner tonight with a friend and at some point the conversation turned to Zenyatta and her pregnancy. My friend is co-owner of a company that produces top of the line, custom drum kits, I am a former sound engineer. Long story short, being huge music fans we came up with a few names we are proud enough to post. First off, “Driven to Zen.” My favorite Police song, “Driven to Tears” just happens to be off of the album she was named after. “Zen Driven,” not my favorite but worthy of a mention :) Last, but definitely not least…”Zencronicity”…just sayin’ ;)

@Rosemary McCauley – LoL, Good response to Terry Crow!

@Judy B – you’re missing today, hope all is ok.

I’m saddened about Steve Jobs gone, and too young. I remember seeing the Apple II when it was new, at a Santa Monica College computer fair, reading about “Jobs and Woz”, and thinking they & their computers were “way cool”. Lot of history, since.
Vicki B.
“Jobs and Woz” actually formed Apple Computer on April Fool’s Day in 1976, EXACTLY 28 years before the incomparable “Z” was born. Little could they know, what an important day April 1 would really become!

Hi Zenyatta,
You’re looking beautiful in your autumn wardrobe. Hope that Kentucky blue grass lasts into the winter. Thanks for the great picture, Sarah, and thanks to Zenyatta’s families for always sharing. Love and hugs, Suzanne G
@ALL–INDIAN TALE–GOOD NEWS! She is scratched today from the 1st race at Belmont. She finished 3rd at Parx on Monday, 2 days ago, in a $25k Claiming race. Unfortunately she didn’t get claimed away from Dutrow.
