Good Morning,
I can’t believe that it is October 4th already. There are so many wonderful things happening in our sport. The first round of Breeders’ Cup prep races are now in the books and the balance of them will take place this weekend. It is really getting exciting now!
I am doing MY very best to keep up with all of the racing activity around the country as well as my own duties and responsibilities as an “OFFICIAL HOSTESS FOR THE BREEDERS’ CUP. I actually have a ‘CALENDAR’ which keeps track of all of the appointments I have
with sports writers who are doing articles and promotion for our SPORT! Needless to say, I am very happy to help.
People are really getting excited about MY PARTY. Leonard, who is working with Dottie on all of this, said that people from 26 different states and Canada have already purchased tickets. This is fabulous! Also, today is the first day that Breeders’ Cup will be going public with the ticket announcement. How much FUN is this! My Team is really getting excited!
Amidst all of my other activities, I also want to keep up with my philanthropic work. I am pleased to say that a visit with ME was recently auctioned off at the Crystal Boots and Silver Spurs Event—to benefit MS. The final bid was $6,219. I am so, so pleased that I am able to help raise money for this special charity!
Yesterday, I met with Anna Ford and we are planning an activity for NEW VOCATIONS which is a horse adoption charity. Then on October 17, The RIDING FOR HOPE AUCTION winner will be coming for a visit. LUCKY ME! I really feel so proud that I can do my part to help.
It is also important for ME to keep in touch with MY FAMILY. “E” is training nicely at BARN 55 and getting into a regular routine. She has breezed 3/8ths a few times and is moving forward. MIKIE always stops by to visit her…and I know that MY JOHN and Mario give her HUGS from ME all of the time. I’d know those ‘ears’ anywhere. I guess they run in the family!
Hmmm! Wonder if BABY Z / B’s ears will look like mine? I hope so!
Have a terrific Tuesday!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z
Come to my party!

@Especially Horses, What a great horse Saint Ballado was!! I got to meet him and pat him…A big handsome Stallion. I agree with you that these old family lines are vanishing or have vanished. Breeding for speed now which makes these horses all the more fragile!!
Jeanne from Texas
Oh Zenny…..i’ve downloaded many of your pictures that roll on my computer every day. And you are the only one that rolls thru. After seeing Mike on E above, it rolled to the one of Mike giving you a big 2-armed hug after one of your races. You can’t see his face, just that little bald head loving you. I would give anything to give you a hug like that….you are my superstar!

That is a great picture of Mike and “E”…yes, love those ears and I hope your baby will have them. It is wonderful how you can help with so many charities…wow, keeping up with your calendar must be a heck of a job. Dottie does a fantastic job and us fans sure do respect and love her. Hugs to you Z….

Seeing Mike up there on E made me miss seeing Zenny race SO BAD. But, E looks amazing and I would love to see Mike ride her to victory the way he did with her big sister. Love love love everything about Zenyatta and her team. Thank you for all your hard work Dottie!

Dear Especially Horses:
WOW, St. Ballardo’s line really had a number of tragic losses. Don’t recall another stallion that lost so many offspring in accdidents and illness. St. Liam was one of my favorites. Who knows how many more successful sons and daughters he would have produced. So sad. Hugs, JB

Zenyatta,
You are such a philanthropist. :) E is totally georgeous and feminine looking. I think she looks like her daddy, but has her mommy’s ears.:) Mike and E look good together. Stay happy and healthy Big Mama.
@ Denise in AZ, Wishing you all the best with your new mare and her baby. Good luck to your hubby in finding a good job..

Dear Zenny – I am really so proud of you. You not only have thrilled all of us in your racing career, but your after racing career is certainly flourishing. E is very pretty – just like you. I can’t wait to see Baby ZB. I am sure she will have your ears. I can’t wait to see the first picture of you and the baby – too cute!!!
Hugs and kisses beautiful girl.

@Denise in AZ–thanks! I’ll try to find the pictures. You have a great heart, and I’m praying for your hubby to get that job he needs!
@JAG–thanks for the great link.
I’ve said this before, but I feel that LOVE makes an animal even more beautiful. This appears to be true with Ebby too!

Zen, thanks for sharing the photo of your baby sis. I’m sure there is no comparision for anyone who was involved with you, but I am curious to know what similarities Mike may have noticed between you and “E”: personality or otherwise. She is a nice looking horse, that’s for sure.

Dear Zenyatta I love the picture of E. She reminds me of you. Just beautiful. I love her ears and YOURS. I hope the sun came out for you. It did here finally. I am following some of the races. Mistletoe has a pal in the Champagne Stakes called No Spin. I am hoping to watch it on TVG. I am cheering for No Spin YEA!!! Zenyatta you have taught me so much and now I am following different races. I am still learning. Yesterday in class the children and I played social studies games and each team was a different horse like Secretariat, Zenyatta, Mo, Mistletoe. They loved it. It made it fun. They worked as a team. I just want you to know that YOU are so important and have taught so many of us different lessons. I also like the way you are always helping others. I wish more adults were like YOU. Have a good night sweet girl. I love you. Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO

Dear Zenyatta,
I haven’t posted for a quite a while but have been enjoying your diary very much nearly every day. Today, seeing this gorgeous photo of E with Mike in the saddle simply inspired me to write again. All of us who love you are waiting and hoping for your little sis to find success. Like you, she has the BEST team in the world caring for her and training her.
I had an amazing vacation in Saratoga in August, including Travers Day. Such a beautiful place, and the track is just as you imagine it to be from all the photos. Saw some great races.
We also visited Old Friends at Cabin Creek (about 20 minutes away from Saratoga)and spent the afternoon meeting the amazing staff and wonderful horses who are lucky enough to live there. It’s a very special place.
I have always dreamed of going to see the BC in person, and now that you are its official hostess this year, I am even more sad that I cannot go this year. I hope that there will be coverage on tv, and pray that attendees will post photos and blog entries with lots and lots of details.
As always, you and your team inspire me with all the creative and generous things you do. God bless you all, as well as all who visit here!

Fantastic picture of Mike & ‘E’. I hope Mr. & Mrs. Moss will consider giving Mike the option to be her regular rider when she is ready for the races. That would be really neat!
Tessa
When is E going to race? She looks just like you, Zenny. I can’t wait till she races. Love you and your baby! Love, Tessa

Lil Sis is a beauty. Can’t wait to see what she’s made of! Love you always, Z.

“The Grade I Lady’s Secret Stakes was taken in dramatic, off-the-pace fashion by Zazu, under Rosario. It marked the fourth consecutive victory in the Lady’s Secret for owners Jerry and Ann Moss, as they had won the previous three runnings with the great Zenyatta. Zazu is trained by John Sadler and paid $5.80 to win and got the 1 1/8 miles in 1:41.59.”

Dearest Z, It’s lovely to see your sweet half-sister E.
@Denise in AZ—How wonderful of you to take in the two horses in need—I will pray that hubby gets that perfect job soon!
@Kimberly Potter—Have you checked on the Internet to see if there is a rescue group near you? Also feed stores sometimes know of people who need help with paying for hay for their horses—maybe you could help somebody close by with their expenses, and also give their horses a little extra TLC. Let us know if this works out for you. Meanwhile, praying still for your daughter-in-law and grand-baby-to-come.
@JAG—I like your “Ebby” for Eblouissante–nice connection to “ebony.”
Debbie G
“E” is just like you, Zenny. She is too cute! I love you, beautiful girl! :-)
Savvy
Can’t wait to see how good E races, but hope they give her the time she needs, like they did for you, Zenyatta. Zen, I love ya. Take good care.

Hi Zenyatta – A bit of early winter rain today in So Cal…. Just a drip or two though. Your sister is an amazing looking filly, and yes, the ears tell the story of family ties! Too cute. (Can’t see the cotton balls though) It’s easy to see Mike is so happy on her. Thank you and Dottie for all you do for the equine thoroughbred groups. You are amazing in your retirement.
@Denise, You rock and I know good things will come in the way of a “perfectjob” for your husband. God Bless you all. Would love to see the pictures on facebook. What is the name to look for? (in case you check back on today’s post)

@Yvonne Lentini in NJ—Nice to see you posting here. If you would like to be in e-mail contact with a couple other NJ Z-sters, Barbara Grimaldi and Linda in NJ, you can e-mail me at trinambn@yahoo.com and I can forward your message to them. Maybe sometime you’d like to get together at the track. Several SoCal Z-sters and I had the pleasure to meet Linda in person when she came out for the Hollywood Gold Cup. She will be laid up a little while when she has a hip adjustment on October 26, but there’ll be no slowing her down after that.
